Remember when Itachi told Sasuke he and Madara were the only ones to ever awake the Mangekyou Sharingan. This genuinely makes me wish we had a badass female Uchiha protagonist.

Actually it's not really that much of a plothole, at least in manga, Itachi told him "including myself, there will be three people who can handle the mangekyou sharingan", meaning at this moment. Sasuke even brings this up at the beginning of SxI fight saying that if they were supposed to be 3 MS holders left, then the third one also has to be traitor. He didn't say there were 3 during entire history. Also other thing, Izanami and Izanagi are NOT mangekyou abilities (don't know why so many people get it wrong, when literally Danzo used it 10 times on standard sharingan eyes). It's mostly anime only thing were they spam so many mangekyou eyes, hell lore-wise even basic sharingan is relatively rare, not something every Uchiha has. For example aunt/uncle from the OG naruto were Uchiha, but didn't have sharingan, that's also why Itachi/Tobi massacre of whole Uchiha makes more sense, because they didn't go against hundreds of sharingan users, but maybe dozens. The only thing that is iffy is timing, since you don't need to have mangekyou, it could have happened before unification. But since anime wanted to give them mangekyou then it had to be after unification, because Madara and his brother were the first one to awaken mangekyou, so anime creators were just filling another plothole. Even then it could make sense if it was shortly after unification, then it could still make sense, that clans would fight individually on battlefield / follow their own laws and traditions. At least until village gained official police force during 2nd hokage times formed from Uchiha clan. Also technically I think ?Itachi? mentioned to Sasuke during one flashback that "Uchiha clan has grown smaller over the time"... Guess now we know why :D It's sort of curse of Uchiha, that they have the biggest potential to be super powered, but getting the power comes at the cost of huge intra-clan cannibalism.

I think with the Mangekyō Sharingan thing that Itachi said, he was referring at that precise moment (Shisui and the other Uchiha with Mangekyō were already dead).

I think iitachi said that because there where only 2 ppl alive with the mangekyo, whixh is itachi and tobi(ofc itachi thought it was madara, thats why he said madara instead of tobi

the only plot hole is the leaf shinobi head band, I think its just a art mistake during animation since they did not have manga material to rely on deciding on the costumes etc... black and white represent old era but they forgot to take into consideration of leaf headband because the "all knowing" episode which substantiate the timeline was a further ahead of this! And the thing about mangekyou is really old, since Indra was the first to awaken it with the influence of kaguya leftover stuff!

About chronological order. Initial fight with random clan is actually against Senjui clan. U can see Thier unique armour later shows in Madara story. But Izanami part is after formation of Konaha. So we can assume this Izanagi issue was causing for very long. Even we saw it as small thing.

The Izanagi and Izanami wouldn't even be a thing if there weren't more Uchiha with the Mangekyo Sharingan. Because otherwise, nobody would have been able to discover that Jutsu. And if the Jutsu was never discovered, then how can it become forbidden.

Really showcases the sorrow and tragic nature of the Uchiha. The song is so damn good too. It’s especially great when it continues to build up to another verse when it already felt like it had reached its ending verse lmao.

I don't think Izanami is supposed to be a Mangekyo jutsu at all. Izanagi isn't (Danzo used regular sharingans). The animators should have just drawn regular sharingan eyes and there's no plot hole.

I don't see a lot of people saying this but it is not a plot hole because for 2 reasons: 1. Danzo had normal sharingans when he was using izanagi he never used shisui mangekyo sharingan for that 2. Itatchi was lying to sauske when he said he would be the third Pearson because at that time not counting himself he knew of 3 other people that had it (4 if Fugaku having it was canon) the first was madara the second was his brother and the third was Shisui because at that time he already had his eye so not plot hole just another lie told to sauske that night

I think you can forget about what Itachi said "You will be the third person who's awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan" because I think Itachi was just lying to Sasuke about this. Itachi also did lie a lot about Mangekyo Sharingan to Sasuke during their fight. Or maybe Kishimoto just scrap this whole "third person" things and change a lot of plots during writing Naruto. Because later in the story we knew, Madara, Izuna (Madara's Brother), Itachi, Shisui, Sasuke, Kakashi, Fukagu (Sasuke's father) and "he" who shall not be named also has awakened Mangekyo Sharingan. That's mean all of what Itachi said is just a lie or Kishimoto just changing the plot/scrap the initial story. And about the Izanami and Izanagi backstory, yes the timeline is confusing and didn't make sense. Because it is totally a filler added in the anime which did not exist in the manga. Some fillers are great but I really hate the filler when it contradict the plot (in this case, it mess with the timeline).

Sauske genuinely believed that he'd NEVER see Itachi again. Even it technically wasn't physically him, that was still Itachi in there. And Sasuke was so obsessed with hearing the truth and the prospect of having his big brother back, he never actually processed what "Stopping the reanimation jutsu" actually meant until Itachi said it. Sauske is completely unprepared for this moment, and all he can do is yell, and get angry. He just can't accept that this is really the end of their story. This is Goodbye forever (until Sauske dies too)

The timeline for the non canon stuff could make sense. Remember that there were 3 Great Ninja Wars after Madara and Hashirama formed the Leaf Village. There was more than enough time for it.

With the whole plot hole thing I look at it as Itachi just lied to Sasuke about the amount of people who had the Mangekyo Sharingan. And as far as time goes I'd imagine that it was after Madara lost considering they were vying for power at that time. The Hokage may not have gotten involved because of the Izanagi being such a ridiculous jutsu, and that may have been one of the reasons the 2nd cracked down on the Uchiha so harshly in the way that he did. It's iffy, and I'm probably missing a bunch, but idk. I always thought this part was really weird anyway

having the blade guards is kind of inconsistent, right? because it is assumed that when it was formed only Madara had the manguekyo. Another thing, the Izanami and Izanagi are techniques that are acquired with the manguekyo or sew can you perform with the classic sharingan? I ask because Danzou used it with the eyes of his arms that were common sharingans and Tobi used it with his right eye.

it should be during the first ninja war or second ninja war, cause what they fought looked like shinobies from stone villages. and TBH it is unknown whether you can use izanami without mangakyou or not but anyway itachi was wrong to say that cause if you look back at the episode where tobi tells naruto about the sage of 6 paths' sons. you can see that the one that formed the uchiha clan has a mangakyou that looks like uzumaki clan's symbol, even izuna (madara's brother) had mangakyou and shisui

Shisui had Mangekyo as well. Seems like it was a more common occurrence then that original Itachi scene would imply. That would make sense considering the activation requirements for Mangekyo (which is deep trauma, not specifically murder) are more readily accessible to people who live a life in war. Is it confirmed in the subs and the original manga that Itachi said "you will have been the third person to awaken the mangekyo sharingan, including myself", as in the thrid EVER? Not "you will be the third to currently possess mangekyo among the remaining, living Uchiha? That would make more sense canonically, but if it was a dubbing error or Kishimoto decided to retcon that particular information to make the Uchiha cooler, I could see that happening. Also yes, I would have preferred if the studio had not animated the Uchiha from the Izanami backstory with Leaf headbands. Woulda made more sense for those particular Uchiha to be from the Warring States period. That was when they were at their most savage, after all. They also seemed to be organized as a clan not a leaf unit. Also, they didn't have the jackets at this particular time. Good story, cool addition, just needed some touch-up here and there.

You missed the major plot hole in izanami, obito said izanagi requires senju/hashirama cells+uchiha powers and that it is a six paths power but in this ep , everyone in the flashback uses it

Itachi in the manga did mention to Sasuke he would be the third person to awaken the Mangekyou Sharingan, Sasuke even brought that up when he fought Itachi in the Uchiha hideout. Right after Sasuke stabbed him in the back when Itachi was sitting on his throne he asked who was the third person with the Mangekyou Sharingan, Itachi asked why concern himself with that, and Sasuke said he's going to kill him knowing "Madara" helped Itachi slaughter the Uchiha clan. Furthermore, when Itachi said Sasuke would be the third person to awaken the Mangekyou Sharingan he meant it as in he would be the third person still alive after the Uchiha massacre to have the Mangekyou, the others being himself and Obito (who he thought was Madara at the time) so it's not a pothole whoever mentioned that on Patreon completely misconstrued Itachi's words.

The plot point of more than 2 Mangekyo Sharingans was already changed by the time we knew Madara had a brother that also had obtained the Mangekyo. That could be a reboot or Itachi hiding information on purpose. Also for using Izanami and Izanagi I think you don't need a Mangekyo, maybe I'm wrong.

Izanagi and izanami are usable with the normal Sharingan, so the Mangekyou is not needed

Izanami and izanagi can be used with base level sharingan you don’t need the mangekyo because Danzo used izanagi with base sharingans in his arm, but it is a plot hole that more than three people have the mangekyo because there’s 1) Madara 2) Izuna 3) fugaku (sasuke a dad) 4) obito 5) kakashi 6) itachi 7) sasuke, etc there’s lots of uchiha who have awakened the mangekyo, but you don’t need it to perform izanagi or izanami

It doesn't need the magekyo sharingan to activate the izanagi or izanami, just regular regular ones, but the true plot hole is that you need the Hashirama cells because the izanagi is based on how the sage of the six paths create anything out of nothing, and because the senju clan and the uchiha clan are his descendants, one need the Hashirama cells and just regular sharingans ( just like Danzo with 10 sharingans in the arm made of Hashirama cells)

I REALLY dont like this backstory for the izanami and izanagi, it's just a massive plot hole. First off tobi against konan already confirmed that the izanagi REQUIRES both the uchiha and senju chakra to perform it, as it's the creation of all things jutsu from the sage of 6 paths Also do remember that the uchiha were one of the BEST clans in the world and these were people with the mangekyou too (which is questionable aswell). The idea that such people would get caught so easily in novice traps like a pitfall or a log substitution fake out and throw away their eye sight so readily is just laughable. There are plenty of non uchiha's who've taken worse traps and just walked it off
