Fun fact that I'm sure most fans are already aware of: Willem Dafoe actually had to BEG Sam Raimi for an audition for Norman Osborn because Raimi at first didn't think he fit the role. During the transformation to Green Goblin, Sam allowed Willem to basically "do his own thing to enhance the scene", and Willem obliged in the most amazing of ways.

Watched this in the theater the weekend after I graduated high school, with lots of family and friends. Everyone loved it. It is a great coming of age film and made me feel like taking on the world.

One thing I love about this trilogy is how much character it has. Raimi really nailed the aesthetic and the feel. I also love the camera angles. Shame he didn't get to continue directing them.

Saw this in theaters with my parents, and we loved it! Sam Raimi's SPIDERMAN blew my mind! He will directing Doctor Strange and The Multiverse Of Madness for a 2022 release.

Honestly, I'm fine with the "cute outfit" line. Spidey knows that Bonesaw is the typically insecure masculine figure, and implying that he isn't straight would get him mad and make him lose his cool. Pete at no point says it's a bad thing if he's gay, he just lets Bonesaw's personal biases infer the negative connotations.

Really enjoyed this reaction. My wife and I saw this movie during our honeymoon back in 2002 while we were in Hilton Head. The theater lost power about half way through so we had to come back two days later and rewatch it. The movie still holds up today and I agree that Spider-Man 2 is an amazing movie. Keep up the great content!!!

What’s funny is that for the 89 Batman movie, Danny Elfman did the music, he also did it for the entire raimi trilogy. The black suit theme in spider man three has a similar part to the Batman theme, it’s very cool

I think Jen’s reaction was EXACTLY how I remember audiences and critics reacting to this film when it came out, on just about every point. I think that’s pretty fair, especially given how much Holden hyped it and how many other excellent superhero films she’s seen that came out since this film was released. And she’s suitably excited for the sequel, what more can you want :)

Different times in filmmaking. Spider-man 2 is the best of the three Raimi Spider-man movies. I go back to Sam's Evil Dead days as a fan of his movies and television series. So bring on Spider-man 2!

See this is what I really liked about the Spider-Man 1 movie that at the end of the day Peter accept who he is and he grows from it he knows that Mary Jane is going to get hurt so he decides not to go with her and keep his identity secret for the greater good for the people he cares about but in the Tom Holland Universe he can't stop telling people his secret identity and he really never comes out growing from his movies

This is the movie that not only got me invested in Spider-Man, but superheroes as a whole. I was very young when this movie came out and I watched it non stop. I used to have all the toys, masks, web shooters, video games, etc. Having grown up and actually read the Stan Lee and Steve Ditko original comics, my love for the first 2 Raimi films was solidified. They have the same heart, tone, comedy style, and cheesy feel to them. This is still the most accurate Spider-Man in comparison to the original version of the character from the 1960s. I love both of the other actors as well for different reasons, but Tobey is still my favorite for this particular reason. It's my favorite interpretation of the character outside of the classic comics.

So glad you’re getting Jen to see the trilogy! You should totally watch the TASM movies together before No Way Home releases.

A lot of people hate on the campiness of the Raimi movies without realizing that it's intentional. Raimi was purposefully trying to evoke the campiness of the Silver Age era of comics, which is not only when Spider-Man first debuted, but is also the era that Raimi is most familiar with.

Honestly this movie still have the best spider-man villain for me across three versions. Never been outright terrified of a villain before. Also I hope you do a trailer reaction after watchint the trilogy!

OHHHHHH THE RAIMI TRILOGY🔥. What a wonderful can of worms you just opened my friend👏

As someone who loves the Raimi Trilogy and thinks Spider-Man 2 is still the best superhero movie ever made, the biggest problem with this first one is theme. All of it's themes are great ideas, but not all of them carry through. It gives the film an unfinished feel. Like the Norman Osborne as Peter's Dad bit at the end. It should be a gut punch, but we have only had them together for a few minutes. The movie never capitalizes on that relationship as much as it wants to for that ending to land. But again, I still love this movie. Hands down the best origin of any hero told on film. Not only is it a near perfect recreation of the comic version, adding Peter smiling in the elevator is just a brutal. It wasn't just that he let the criminal go and got some sort of cheap revenge, it is that he was proud of himself because of it. It freaking gets me every time I watch it.

I grew up with spiderman comics, and waited through all the 80's and 90's with talk of trying to make this movie, and in 2002 we finally got it. To me, this was the movies series that started the whole marvel boom. I still love these movies!! Thanks for sharing Holden and Jen.
