The Best Banana Cake
( Double Recipe)
1 cup butter
3 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 cups sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
4 cups ripe mashed banana ( about 8 smaller bananas or 6 large bananas )
Spray the pan or use cupcake liners
350 degrees
20-25 minutes for cupcakes
40-45 minutes for bundt cake or 9X13 pan
Darn Good Chocolate Cake
1 package Devil’s food cake mix
1 package chocolate jello pudding mix ( 3.9 ounces)
4 large eggs
1 cup sour cream
½ cup warm water
½ cup vegetable oil or avocado oil
1 ½ cups chocolate chips
Spray pan and dust with cocoa powder
350 degrees F 45-50 minutes
Cream Cheese Buttercream Frosting
1 8 oz block of cream cheese ( room temperature)
½ cup butter ( room temperature)
2 tsp vanilla
4 cups powdered sugar

Advice from a fellow baker... spray your bundt pan, then dust with flour. Then add batter. Helps it to come out without sticking.

As someone old enough to be your Momma who has been baking since the 70s, i highly recommend letting your muffins and cakes rest and cool before popping them out of whatever you bake them in. Way better chance they will come right out instead of breaking or sticking. Great recipe ideas!!❤️❤️❤️

I have only just found your channel ❤ I think that you are amazing, I have been a lone parent for around 12 years now, no help from my ex, just me, 4 children all teens at the time of the split. You've got this girl 👍 stay strong. I live in the countryside, in the UK. Small community, I feel very alone sometimes, I have a good cry, I throw things in the rubbish ( garbage) , scrub the kitchen floor. Baby steps every day. I will say a prayer for you at Church this evening 💕

I have severe food allergies and my doctor strongly suggested that in place of oil in baking to use equal portion of unsweetened apple sauce instead of oil. Ex: 1 cup vegetable oil is the same as1 cup of unsweetened apple sauce. It's healthier and is makes a moist cake. Thanks for sharing your recipes! The cakes are my favorite!

Love the milk glass serving platters. Back when I was younger, Moms brothers would visit once yearly. In and out, constantly cooking, loud talking, telling stories, which I should have listened. Those days are gone. Enjoy.

If you prefer not to use a non-stick baking spray (works everytime), you can make your own cake release paste. It’s what we used when I worked in a bakery. It’s a diy mix of butter (or shortening), oil, and flour. You mix equal amounts until it turns into a paste. You brush on the paste in all areas of the pan and it works like a charm every time.

Put water in the empty muffin cups when you don’t have enough batter to fill the whole tin. You’ll get a more even bake. Water also evens out oven temperature-no more hot & cooler spots-as it evaporates.

Miss Violet has matured so fast and with ALL her brothers interacting with her, she will thrive faster ❤. My preemie is 15 years old already, born at 6 months ( 1Lb-7oz). Prayers up, blessings even higher.

Lauren, you were making a lot of delicious treats !! The boys have been lucky with a mom that loves to bake. My mom used to make us kids all kinds of stuff, you are creating some beautiful memories for the kids. It’s been 120 (F)+ where I live now temps have dropped to low hundreds 106-110 . We are in Monsoon season which gives pop up thunderstorms but mostly humidity! We are a dry climate so it’s hot and sticky weather! No baking and no oven! But come fall I’m all about the baking fun 😊

Love watching you bake!! I learned a muffin trick recently: to get a nice high top on the muffin, increase the oven temp 25 degrees for the first 5 minutes. Works every time!

I always wait to grease my bundt pan right before I pour in the batter. Also, I use Crisco rather than baking spray. My cakes pop right out of the pan every time. Never had even one cake fall apart. This method is tried and true!

When measuring flour you need to put your flour in a dry measuring cup. The glass measuring cup is for liquids.

When I had many kids at home or a function where I needed lots of muffins, I had a recipe that used a whole box of raisin bran, four eggs, oil, quart of buttermilk, cinnamon, sugar, vanilla, think that's it. Mix it all up, refrigerate it overnight, and you could keep it for up to 6 weeks in the fridge and bake as needed. 6 weeks never ever happened at my house! Thanks for sharing.

1 (15 ounce) box Raisin Bran cereal (Flakes , about 9 cups) 3 cups sugar I don't use this much. We like our breakfast muffins less sweet 5 cups flourI use half whole wheat 5 teaspoons baking soda 2 teaspoons salt 4 eggs, beaten 1 cup vegetable oil 1 quart buttermilk 1 1⁄2 teaspoons cinnamon DIRECTIONS Mix cereal with raisins, sugar, flour, soda and salt in a very large bowl. Add oil, eggs and milk. Allow to rest overnight in fridge before use. Store in a covered container in fridge and use as needed. Fill muffin tins 2/3 full and bake at 400 degrees for 18-20 minutes

Forgot to add about a teaspoon of vanilla and I usually add an extra cup of raisins. 😊 Haven't made these in a while because my husband and I are full-time RVers and we don't have room in our fridge. Sure were good though! Makes about four dozen medium sized muffins.

I found out the secret of getting cakes out of Bundt pans is to butter, flour, and then let the cake cool COMPLETELY before flipping it out. Works every time.

As a home baker I loved this video! Also as a Mom of six kids ( all grown now) I remember a bit of chaos when baking! Your house seemed very calm! ❤️ I have a question about your mixer that is Not the Kitchen Aid. What is it please? I’m hoping to get a new mixer soon….my kitchen aid is really old….still works, but needs to be refreshed I guess. Anyway ….the very different mixer….do you like it as well as the Kitchen Aid?
