There are a handful of plug-ins I go to each and every time I open ProTools. I walk you through my favorites and demonstrate ways I might use each plug-in in my productions and compositions.

I have a very similar A list especially the soundtoys stuff, although instead of alterboy I now use Auidiothing's Texture which is dirt cheap but does a much smoother job of adding some highs.

very nice video - we can´t be reminded too often that all we need is ONE reverb, EQ, delay etc... to get the work done. the time we spend dl free or other plugins when we already have everything steals time to be creative. having said this, I now will look at my new plugings I dl while watching this vid and which add to my 1.468 other ones...

Great video as always Jon. The perfect balance of 'cool, I never knew that' and ego supporting 'I knew that'. The Waves issue is interesting. Personally I build the update pricing into the price paid for the plugin as they seem to be running a perpetual sale these days. That said, I need to research the 'maximum upgrade price ceiling' as it always seems more.

When I first started producing music the Waves plug-ins were my bread and butter. I still use their limiters and compressors from time to time, but I agree that over time Its frustrating to have to continue spending money on them for (what seems like) no reason at all. UAD plug-ins are amazing and I’d be interested to see what your opinion is on the reverbs from them. Capitol Chambers is my current go-to, it’s amazing!

I tried out a few UAD reverbs recently. They were all impressive, but they did not move me enough to replace what I'm already using. I feel like I get the sounds I want with Valhalla Vintage Verb and Room, TSAR, FabFilter Pro-R and sound toys Little Plate. The UAD verb I'm most interested in at the moment is the BX20 Spring Reverb.

hey, I'm working with some ambient pads from piano book for an electronic track but they take too long to build and decay to fit into the rhythm of the track, they start falling behind because it takes a little while for the next chord to start even though the midi is programmed in the right place. I tried adjusting the sample start time and this didn't help. Any tips on keeping it locked in with my beat?

Generally speaking, I find in that situation that the best thing to do is pull the MIDI data forward until it sounds good to you. If the decay is then a bit messed up, try manually adjusting the setting so as to ensure it fits nicely!

Nice video idea, but I find it a bit rushed and more of a plug for your own libraries...

Hey! Would you still recommend/ do you still use the Api 2500? Is using this enough to make my mix sound good? I have huge problems trying to get my music to sound acceptable, does this help?
@JonMeyer
@JonMeyer Жыл бұрын
The 2500 is great, but there are plenty of good compressors out there, many of which are free. There are no magic compressors, unfortunately.

@@JonMeyer LOL. I spent much of the last 2 years deleting hundreds of plugins. Scaled back from about 700 to about 200. Still need to scale back more. LOL
