Long story short: Continental PremiumContact 6 or this tyre for 245/45/R17?

I have found out that the air pressure is changing noticeable in order to the temperature. So, the air pressure is often not ideal for maximum performance. I have a heavily understeering front wheel drive car. The tyre is struggling with low air pressures. You could try to put a tiny bit more air into the tyre. This helps my car. It feels more dynamic. But keep the breaking performance in the wet and cold in mind. I have bought a very precise digital tyre pressure tester for bicycles . The thing at the gas stations shows different numbers. I've also bought a temperature measuring device to check the temperature on the surface of the tyre. Very interesting results are coming out, and it helps understanding the tyre and how it feels. You might need a more sporty tyre. I don't believe you would be happy with the cup2's or any other semi slick. They're useless in the wet, and they need temperature. I've bought the nankang ns2r. Surprisingly good in the cold and in the wet. Incredible. Aquaplaning is hitting more aggressive. Just go slower. I've also realised how good the goodyear was. Of course the nankang is a significantly stiffer tyre. There is no bouncing or deforming. It is stiff af . Surprisingly good damping. I'm curious to see how the grip is going to get when the tyre gets temperature. I don't know yet. But the nanknang made my car very nervous and they sound like a worn bearing. I believe the ps4s or the potenza sport is the tyre to go for people like us. . Stiff and sporty but usable for open road.

The eagle F1 IS more sporty and dynamic than the PS4. You’re just comparing a worn tyre with a new tyre which you can’t do. The PS4 and even the PS5 are more comfort biased. If you want even more sportiness, you should look at the eagle F1 supersport, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport, the PS4S or maybe wait a little for the Pilot Sport S5. Cup 2 are very much track oriented and would probably feel pretty bad on the road especially in the UK.

driving Asy6 for 1 week now. Dry grip is very good, wet grip is very good, noise very low, steering very fast and easy, comfort very good. BUT: I own a M240i and it has so much grip that it is sometimes boring ;) You can go to the track with the Asy6 but it may overheat, I can't testify about that.

Hi Sam, don't forget you're comparing new goodyears with worn michelin PS4 here. I doubt you can recall what the PS4 felt like with 8mm of tread block on them 5 years ago? Doesn't surprise me that the Goodyears feel softer with the 6 or 7mm of extra tread. I have PS4 on my car and I'm looking at the GY Eagle asym 6 next as Jon on Tyrereviews said they felt more dynamic and sporty than the PS5. On looks alone the PS5 wins but I'd prefer to have the best sporty tyre for the money than care about how they look. Did you consider Bridgestone Potenza Sport Sam? Supposed to be more sporty feeling than the two we've mentioned.

Having lighter steering isn’t necessarily a bad thing and ‘less dynamic’. These cars don’t really give any real steering feel which makes it hard to judge tyres, but TyreReviews says that these are sportier feeling than the PS4/5 and I tend to trust them. Cup 2s would be pointless unless you’re doing a lot of track driving because they’d just feel terrible on the road in most situations. If you want something sporty but can handle the UK road conditions and weather, the Continental Sport Contact 7 or Michelin PS4S are the ones to go for

I've had these on the front of my Mk8 Clubsport for about 8-10 months (replaced original Bridgestone S005's) and they are very good tyres, although they seem to be wearing very quickly. I'll be interested if you find the same. That said I would definitely buy them again for the reduced noise and the compliant feel.
