Good vid as always. You're a great ambassador for the sport. It's hard to justify upgrading every year unless it's your job or you have money to burn. Currently I have a Hero 4, 6 and 9. The stabilization was a game changer. I also use the Stuntman and have started wearing it under my shirt and attaching the Gopro via the ball socket over the shirt. I think it looks Stealth.
@TheOutsiderMTB

Right on - I've been thinking about trying that. Just ruin a couple shirts for mtb life ain't so bad. Cheers!

I guess I'll have to replace my shirt with an Outsiders Jersey 2.0. Maybe something in black so you don't see marks left by the clamp.

I currently use a simple GoPro mount on my helmet but after seeing your footage I'd love to see my bars more so I think I'm going to buy a harness for my chest.
@slomtbr

When I bought the Hero8 and ditched the gimbal, I found I could attach the camera right-side-up on the Stuntman using the ball joint mount. There’s less leverage for the camera to jostle the chest mount in the rough stuff.

I stopped using the windcover and switched over to the dead cats. The windcover lost its tightness over time and it would encroach over the lens. Also it would allow more wind to get in as it got more loose.

Yep doing the same - good call.

I am still a fan of the wind cover but that may be because I still use the 9 and 7 and the cover for the 7 fits well on the 9 due to the size difference essentially being the external cage the 7 uses. Only real issue I have run into on the 9 so far is when using external power in the warmer seasons it tends to overheat, which is annoying and has cost me footage but in the end I can always buy a couple extra batteries...but in the fall/spring/winter this is no longer an issue at all.
@TheOutsiderMTB
@TheOutsiderMTB 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never had the issue. Thanks for the heads up.

thanks -> Great video - couldn't resist and get the 10 for Christmas - Great camera, but confirming that recording 4K at 60fps drains the battery pretty quickly.

Same experience with me, my Hero 8 I like better. The windslayer works much better on the 8. Also the front screen on the 10 will drain your battery pretty fast if you have it on.

I may toy with 24fps over 30fps. Do you feel it's still adequate if you want to show anything in slo-mo? I've been using 30fps just in case. ✌🏼🤟🏼
@TheOutsiderMTB

No good for slo mo. That’s the compromise. I use another GoPro for non pov shots at 60fps.

couple questions: is an external mic a reasonable thing? Also ... is editing and rendering in 4k a super slow thing, or do you have a mega machine, or care to share?
@TheOutsiderMTB
@TheOutsiderMTB 2 жыл бұрын
Yes but I’ve never used it. I’m keeping it simple. It’s not that slow but does depend on your machine. I have a new MacBook Pro, so it does good work of it. But I was using an air before. Just takes a bit longer.

how is the maxxis assegai rolling ? i now have bontrager xr4 on front , i try xr5 but after 30km (18mi) ridingis feel heavy. maybe i will try maxxis assegai MaxxTerra for the front , in past i have dhr2, the mic on the 10, more clear sound and more sensitive.

That windnoise you were hearing is side wind. It's the same for the hero 9 and 10 it's easily fixable and the foam windscreen is no longer a good option for the 9 or 10 if you want perfect audio. But honestly once you have it figured out, the audio is really really good.

I'm surprised you use WB of 6000K, I personally use 5000K which seems to look very realistic for daylight recording. Have you tried different WB?

I have and good catch. Because it’s so sunny and hardly any shade down here it seems like 6k has done ok. But I’m always down to test things out especially with the new camera.

Your WB is giving your video that yellowish look. You should have ISO at -.5 or -.1 cuz most rides are pretty sunny already you’re adding too much light and color in post. I used to use sharp low and color flat but eventually went back to full sharp and GoPro color. ISO helps and I usually don’t go higher than 1600 iso usually at 800 tbh(on typical socal sunny days)
@TheOutsiderMTB
@TheOutsiderMTB 2 жыл бұрын
Agree to disagree on this one. 👍 I don't trust gopro color in every setting for a second. I accidentally used GoPro color in this video actually.
@iamjmp

All good but iso settings are important with light amounts coming in(affecting exposure and contrast) and WB for tint/warmth IMO. C U on the trails 🤘🏼
