Yep, good catch. Definitely merged vanilla AC and +R for a minute after talking nonstop for nearly two hours lol. But agreed, takes basically nothing from the character.

even the top 5 sees debate sometimes, It's definitely not a solved game and it's also a game where everyone is good and is capable of taking tournaments which complicates things even more

@@jonnysac77 I think it's interesting to compare how 3rd Strike is very complex and open with it's system mechanics, but it's mostly been solved, while +R hasn't been as of yet. It really goes to show much popularity of a game affects the speed at which the game is solved.

most consensus is that Testament and Zappa are in S/S+ tier then you have like baiken, dizzy afterwards. As well as Robo-Ky being in the bottom

The reason why +R doesn't seem solved yet is because it came out damn near almost simultaneously with the Xrd announcement. A lot of people just overlooked it, especially after playing AC since 2007. They just felt like this game shouldn't have existed.

Super fair analysis, I feel the same way but it's hard to get every point in when you're 90+ minutes into talking about characters so i definitely overly simplified the explanation for sake of time. I agree though, her offense on a character with minimal defense would be good, not oppressive, but good. The combination is what makes her terrifying. She can be so hard to crack open despite her low health, and she can crack back off a stray counterhit for extremely high average damage. She's never truly out of a fight and that's a scary opponent to stare down in +R

Bottom tier in +r is still a good character. There’s a reason it stops at B+

I'm assuming you meant picking up +R ^_^ to be honest: play anyone who you think looks fun and interesting. +R is a wild game and everyone in the cast has their own unique mechanics and quirks to get used to while learning them. Finding out who works well for you or who you think is fun is way more important than worrying about who's the most approachable when just starting out.

Having FB skull against potemkin has saved my ass so many times playing against him. He's a scary character, but you're right that his movement makes him pretty exploitable by anyone with effective options to control the screen.

By that logic Faust and Kliff should be banned as well due to their RNG. Zappa is strong, he's not unbeatable and the RNG can absolutely roll against him, it's just part of his kit, +R is a wild game, saying anyone should be banned from the intended cast (EX/Shadow/Gold characters obviously do not apply) is frankly, nonsense.

Zappa also has to do something, either using summon special, or getting knocked down. Again, this is +R, advocating for a character ban over a random summon is nonsense.

@@klaige i mean someone getting knocked down is kind of just an inevitability, you can't really expect a lot of characters in this game to just not kd ppl hahaha totally agree that its ridiculous to say he should be banned but zappa sometimes getting free summons is kind of just "why is this in the game" to me also kliff doesnt always have a chance to throw out his back anyways

Kliff doesn't always have a chance to throw his back out, and Zappa doesn't always wake up with a summon, saying anything needs to go based on RNG is a giant slippery slope in a fighting game, especially one as volatile as +R. Is Zappa getting a random summon that might bail him out on knockdown pretty cracked? Absolutely, but +R is a game full of cracked characters, it's part of what makes it fun and makes so many characters viable.

@@klaigeno offense but I could care less if you’re the best player in the world. Playing a game well and understanding it on a more analytical level are 2 different things. If you truly think venom is above May and Sol you don’t understand the game as well as you play. Sol and May don’t have any glaring weaknesses regardless of what you said. Many of Sol’s moves in his kit aren’t just unga bunga moves but can be used on reaction as a hard answer and convert into huge damage and this goes for a more mid range game as well. His tic throw setups have a disgusting risk reward factor, he has very solid reversals. Venom on the other hand should be around Bridget ky and robo ky. He has too many glaring weaknesses and gets destroyed by several problem matchups that he simply doesn’t have answers to solve. His risk reward is regularly an up hill battle against most of the cast and requires winning neutral much more, he has no reversals, and characters with strong force break reversals even with “lower mobility” like Slayer (I put in quotes because ironically Venom struggles against several lower mobility characters because he has no reversals or means to hard challenge other character’s toolkits which leads to his back always being against the wall even at mid to long range where he likes to be) just invalidates most of venoms only strengths. At highest level Venom’s handicaps are an actual problem while Sol and May actually do have a balanced tool kit in addition to their above average damage which is in itself a major leveling card in this game

@@klaige Alf's pretty active on the +R discord, I've talked to him a few times. He's amazing at playing Testament and has a lot of insight into the character. What he says about disabling traps is true, as well as the fact that Beast OTG was removed in the transition from AC to +R. That said, it was rude for him to phrase it that way. Just don't want to let the legit explanations about how testament works get buried, props on the great video.
