This is a full rundown of my guitar collection. Timestamps and Sweetwater/Thomann links are below. Unlike a lot of other videos like this, I am only showcasing the guitars I paid for and that I'm invested in. I don't believe in hoarding guitars for the sake of it and I only keep what I play and enjoy. This guitar collection features Gibson, Fender, PRS, and more!

Shane, as a fellow lefty player I subscribed to your channel 4 years ago and you are still my touchstone for all things guitar related. I know how much work you put into this channel and it shows in both your attention to detail and your passion for both gear and music. I too have the same mantra...once I get to a certain number of guitars, I have to sell in order to justify keeping a new one. Only keep what's being played. Period. Thanks for all your wisdom and cheers from California!!!

“I don’t have any acoustics..”I thought that was a very interesting comment. So many players have acoustics that are hardly played - but there is a need to have one to have that base covered. I’m impressed that you are so definite and single minded. I have a lovely Martin that is a beauty but it is not used a lot. I’ve got a lot of money tied up in it which I could free up to purchase another nice electric - I’m just not brave enough to let it go.
@kevinjohnbetts
@kevinjohnbetts 3 жыл бұрын
I've always had a nice acoustic and even though I'm not much more than a strummer or a barely passable vocalist I got saddled with running open mic sessions about 25 years ago. Now I have a very nice Martin which barely leaves its case because I'm scared it will get damaged or worse! Damned if you do and damned if you don't! 😎😁

About a year ago I bought a 1978 Yamaha SA700 Super Axe….I love it so much I sold my 4 SGs my R8 and an old Tele. Stuck aged hardware on it new boutique PAFs and now wouldn’t swap it for the world…. Having two grandsons I couldn’t have one without the other so bought a Tokai ES224…… beautiful guitar but just doesn’t beat the Yammy…. Had a McCarty PRS in my cupboard for 17 years……Just loved looking at it it but hated playing it….. Sold it to buy the Yamaha and a second hand Tweed…… Best thing I did in 40yrs of scratching….

Shane - love your show. I’m yet another lefty, been playing off and on since 1956 (!). I have 15 stringed instruments just now, incl. a ukulele and a “cigar box” slide 3-string. The rest are guitars - one acoustic (an Ibanez), the rest electrics. My oldest is a ’62 Strat, bought it in ’68. The rest too boring to list here, but I love them all. Keep up the good work - I’ll be watching from here in Weimar, Germany.

Rickenbacker Guitars are one one of my favorites. I like the 1973 360-12 , 330, V69 381 6 and 12 string. I like thin neck guitars. Unfortunately the Neck on the Rickenbacker Guitars are probably too thin for you to play comfortably. I also like the 1970 Gibson SG Standard, 1983 Carvin DC160 (Gibson Les Paul Jr Clone). The Carvin TL60 (Tele Clone) with the Hot single coil pickups is awesome sounding. The only drawback about the Carvin TL60 is that it has a wide neck. I also like the Japanese Fender 62 Sunburst Tele Custom reissue. It was a very good choice that you made having your guitar refretted with Stainless Steel. That is the only way to go. Wish that all the new guitar manufacturers would only use Stainless Steel Frets.

Great collection Shane. I'm exactly the same way! If I buy I wanna play it. I am not a guitar "collector" but a guitar player. I do not own any acoustics either. You have a thing for Tele's like I have for Strats. My 89' American Strat Standard I will never sell. I had it refretted a few years back with stainless steel wire. The luthier who did it by appointment in Chicago say that the neck has many more miles left and he could tell it was my favorite guitar. I also own two PRS SE's. Phenomenal guitars. So in short my rule is the same" if it won't fit in the cupboard then I need to sell one first. Thanks for sharing! ✌️

Great collection Shane, thanks for sharing. I've always loved your channel, never seing anything useless or dishonest here. Even though your 52 Telecaster is my favorite i want to shoutout to your 50's strat. Not a SSS strat player myself, i always love its sound, had a couple over the years myself but once i get one it just doesn't work for me and i end up selling it and yours just sounds amazing. For whatever reason it also look amazing with the cover on bridge, which i usually hate on any guitar 😀 I realised while watching this and the other collection video of yours is that your guitars, being lefties don't give me G.A.S 😀 you're absolutely right about guitars taking dust, when i started playing again (after some unfortunate events and experiences in my life) i decided that i wouldn't double up and buy only what i like and most importantly what i need. After a couple of buying, selling and swapping guitars i came to conclusion about what i was looking for as guitar shape, style and wood, i decided to keep one humbucker, P90 and Telecaster guitar. I don't jam with anyone and this way i have time to play with each guitar every week, they don't collect dust. Once i was sure of the guitar's feeling and wood but not pickups or even the finish in one case, instead of selling and buying again i had them modified to my liking. I personally hate humbuckers split too, when i was getting my guitar customised they offered it but i declined saying "no thanks, they suck split" 😀 i love vintage tuners but really don't like the vintage frets. My tele is rosewood with vintage frets, i thought of getting it re-fretted but since i prefer maple neck and fretboard i decided to buy a new maple neck with medium-jumbo frets instead. My limit is 4 guitars and i'm very cautious about the 4th one that i'll get, not in a hurry in anyway 😀

I have tried many fender custom shop strats, but none of them sounds or feels better than my MIJ strat and a USA strat from 1991. But that being said, the best guitar i ever tried was a fender custom shop nocaster. But didn’t have the money to buy it, and when i did it was sold😢 but I can’t be to sad about what I don’t have when i have a collection i am pretty happy with😎

That's an awesome collection. I've always been trying to keep my collection slim. I feel the more guitars one has, the less they're played, and the less creative you're forced to be with them. I peaked at about 11 guitars now I'm down to 6. I often find I am uncertain about selling a guitar, but once it has sold, I don't really miss it. I sometimes see people post their guitar collections on reddit and they have like six SG's, seven LPs, 4 flying V's. Seems unnecessary to me and I feel I'd just have guilt all the time for not playing every one of them all the time haha.

I’m in Melbourne, not too far from Shane, but have been to 🇨🇦 a couple of times, and been greeted with extraordinary kindness and love in that beautiful country on both occasions. And I’m now emulating living through the Hip’s album releases - I’m up to Fully Completely. Good to ‘meet’ you on the ITB channel!

G’day Steve, Dr Ric here. My wife and I and our 3 kids lived in Palmerston Square, The Annex for 6 months back in 2007. We all still ❤️ 🇨🇦 and have been back to T.O. several times over the years. I know T.O. was hammered by SARS back in 2003…really hoping that you’re getting there in the battle against Covid19. Big ❤️ from 🇦🇺 mate!

Thanks, Aaron for the kind words mate. I always feel like I have too many but there's nothing that I want to get rid of for a change, so that's a good thing. :) It's the Saramonic Blink 500 Pro. I did a review of it on my other channel. It's my favorite pack for audio quality.

Beautiful guitars. Love the white Strat. I had one years ago and wish I still did. No hollow/semi hollows?

I have a 52 reissue telecaster......the pickups kick ass..... I built another and put Joe Bardens in it ....great pickups but would never think of changing the original pick-ups in my 52 reissue

@intheblues I know what ye mean about white guitars. I used to buy almost exclusively black, red or burst guitars. But after being forced to get a "white" guitar (actually tis aged to a cream colour) that turned out to be great, I dont turn nose away from white guitars. Altho to date all of the "white" guitars I have has turned color because 4 of them are 80s guitars that has shaded to between light parchment to rich cream. The 5th white guitar is 2003, and even it shows faint evidences of changing tint too. I'm tempted to change my 2003's OE white pearl pickguard to a white/black/white version after seeing your white Strat.
