Here's an outline and some further details for newcomers: Note: If you don't know how to read music, if you don't know basic scales, arpeggios, modes then this won't make sense to you at all 1. 0:35 Note Finding. Find all the notes across the board 2. 1:05 A minor scale (aeolian) in 6 permutations and play styles. If youre familiar with the a minor scale that's basically it. Instead of playing the notes in the same order rearrange the order but don't change the note you start and end on. Play in a different style each time. Legato is a guitar playing technique where we try to keep our fingers on the strings as much as possible. Alternate picking: this is huge and many guirarists (especially me) are used to mainly downpicks. With alternate you want to pick up, pick down as much as possible 3. 3:00 you want to take the technique used for A minor and switch it to C Major 4: G Major scale, you'll want to play this descending order going down the fretboard 5. 4:30 A Minor sweep picking. Sweep picking, sweep picking when you're aiming to pick more than one note quickly as you're playing. In this case its downpick, basically, instead of picking one note at a time you're going for as many as you can 6. 5:20 palm muting picking excersize for 3 minutes anywhere on the guitar, basically just try to perfect your picking in this excersize 7. After this you'll practice playing whatever you want, Mango then goes over stuff she's experimenting with however you'll probably at this point want to come up with your own licks I hope I helped make this clearer for some people

• 5 minutes: note finding 0:44 • A minor variations 6 permutations of this A minor scale (legato and other day alternate picking) 1:39 • C major legato 3:11 • G major legato going through the hole fretboard 4:02 • A minor picking exercise (?) - A minor scale through the hole fretboard 4:28 • Palm mute 5:09 • Break time playing whatever u want for 30 min🤝5:40

It's cool to see people doing similar exercises. The note finding has been so useful, I can't believe it took me so long to incorporate it.

The sweep picking scales and arpeggios are a great tip. I've just been using the modes recently to practice playing in a key around the guitar while using the trick to find the root notes. I only would just play songs b4 so this is all very helpful.

You make it very clear, that practicing is actually fun... and meditation. It is good for you. Keep doing what you are doing, and concentrate on making perfect movements at slower tempos.😊 Your ear will catch up in time.

Top tip to learn the note positions on the fretboard. I wish I had been told this 40 years ago. It makes life easy almost immediately.

Okay this actually rules. I'm mad yoinkin some of these to add to my own. Also as an additional tip that doesn't involve the guitar but will massively improve your playing/longevity; do an extensive tendon stretch routine on both hands before sitting down for a session. Your fingers will not only feel 10x faster and smoother your tendons will strengthen and loosen making playing easier for longer. I suggest looking up guitarists to learn proper stretches and just doing them before every practice/jam session

Nice video. It's interesting to see how other people practice. I don't think I've seen one before. One tip. I notice you run through a whole succession of techniques (maybe it was just to show us). If you want to perfect a technique, stick to one thing and repeat the same pattern for 10 minutes. You should notice a distinct improvement over the 10 minutes. Keep doing this for some days, the improvement will also feed into other patterns that you haven't even been practicing.

Thanks for the routines! They are refreshing. One thing that struck me while watching you play is that the fretting pinky and middle finger are doing a lot of work. There's sympathetic tension going on when fretting the index and ring finger. This makes the middle and ring finger bridge a longer distance than necessary when it's their turn to fret. It doesn't happen as much on the low strings as it does on the high ones. Hope you don't mind me pointing this out. Thanks again and good luck!

This is " your practice routine" which obviously works good for you! As a guitar player, you must find what works for you, and it evolves and changes. Guitar is a personal journey for a life time of enjoyment. So I find many comments very silly, because they seem upset, your not doing it ,their, way. Just how stupid is that? aeolian is not a scale, it's a mode. a mode can be only applied to a melody or a harmony-less music piece

This is all and good Mango 🥭 but for me when i practice it’s always at a time when I would rather just take a nap. Usually, I come home from work, take care of the dogs 🐶, eat, shower, then I practice. But by that time I would rather take a long nap. But I don’t, because I have this “show must go on” mentality so I grab my guitar and practice.

Yeah …love guitar ,wish i could be good at it…its not gonna happen ,cause though im lost on some of these exercises i know theyre good and important to be well rounded and im not gonna do most of this …started late in life ,already have aching arthritis so im trying to concentrate on songs,riffs …and sadly fail at most of that ….id suggest anyone under 40 ,maybe even 50 to have a practice regime like this to some extent ….maybe pick whats important to the music youre currently working on and create your personal routine . Though im old ,and suck soo bad , ive been trying long enough to know you need certain skills (physical and mental ) to get to any level of competency. Be ready for days when it isnt all fun and feels like work if you want to progress

These all look like great exercises, and I commend you for your self-discipline and congratulate you on your improvement. However, there are some important things missing here. The entire routine is oriented toward lead guitar, and while it’s less sexy, rhythm guitar is more important and not as easy to do well as it looks. For starters, chord voicings, triad usage, grooves in styles you’re interested in, repertoire, the music theory of chord progressions, etc. Best of luck!
