That’s the first question I’ve received on my scarves. I got lucky with my red, cotton scarf. I wish I could replace it. The others are mostly just silk wild rags that I’ve purchased. Those are good questions and I wish I had the answers... Unfortunately I rarely run across any detail as to what an individual carried for their overnights in the wild. I would like to get an oil lamp eventually and an oil container because as you said, they’re accurate to the time. It’s the same with a ground cloth. I have only seen pictures of wedge tents for small tents. I don’t know if they carried ground clothes or not. I believe in the CW it was common to put their gum blanket/poncho on the ground first. And same with salt. There’s definitely multiple ways to carry it. I haven’t had a problem using a poke sack and it can’t break so I like it. Maybe I’ll get another “store-bought” type container eventually just to show other methods. Do you have any thoughts on those questions?

@@OverOnTheWildSide unfortunatly I have no answers. I take a small UCO candle lantern with spare candle (not period correct), sea salt in a bottle/cork and a 3ftx7ft oilcloth to sit/sleep on... I am looking for a larger gum blanket now, something like 5ftx7ft (that will add up wait also)

@@OverOnTheWildSide You never showed it. Char cloth was only if they had or wanted to cut up their clothes or had old clothes to use. Most of the time (from what I understand) it was charred punk wood.
