True Dyson claims the airstraight won’t cause heat damage because it uses warm air to dry your hair instead of a normal straightener that uses a really high heat but it still will cause damage no matter what definitely don’t think it’s worth the price

Is it advised that you apply a heat protectant to your hair while it's still wet? I'm curious for those who use this multiple times a week. And does it get hot?
@alishiahampson33519 ай бұрын
I had a friend who tried this on the not wet hair setting and yes it gets hot but doesn't get that hot on the wet hair setting as far as she could tell you can use heat protection spray on wet or dry hair the rules for it are slightly different though I use the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth, and if I'm using it on towel dried hair I spritz it through but if I'm using it on dry hair I'm meant to do 6-8 about 5 inches from my hair, I find spraying it on my brush then brushing it through my hair works best though as it gets spread through my hair better
@summer6518 ай бұрын
It doesn’t get that hot but if you switch it to dry mode and your hair is a little wet I did see steam 😂

Yes always use a heat protectant! Use a blow dry specific one like the Kendra blow dry mist

Please use a leave in conditioner some heat protectant in it and it'll leave your hair sooo soft and minimize some of the heat damage!
@Maqueling6 ай бұрын
Heat protectant is the last product you apply to your hair before using a heat tool. If you use hair serums and leave in conditioner, those come before your heat protectant. If your heat protectant is a spray, you need to blowdry it first. After it's dry, you can proceed with a hot tool like a straightener or iron if you want to. Heat tools should only be used up to 2 times per week with 3-4 days break in between them. Anything more than that is too damaging to your hair. If you already have damaged or chemically treated hair, the frequency of using heat tools should be even less, around once a week. For the people saying they wash their hair too often to take such 'long' breaks: you're damaging your hair and that's the end of it. When styling your hair, there are two ways it changes shape: it either dries into shape or cools down into shape. If you style your damp hair in a specific way like braiding it, the style, in this case curls, appear and stay after the hair has dried completely. If you treat your styled hair with heat, the style will appear and stay after it has cooled down. A tool that reaches higher temperatures or is super hot doesn't equal more damage. If you want to use a heat tool, heat is required to shape your hair. Yes, there's a line to not cross since you don't want to literally burn your hair, but 140-200°C is fine (most people use 180°). When aiming to damage your hair the least as possible with this kind of blow dry and style in one step products, you need to watch the temperature of your hair, not the temperature of your tool. First of all, it can't be dripping wet so you need to blowdry it first. There's no such thing as 80% dry, stop drying when your hair starts to become frizzy. Then you can go ahead and use these 2in1 tools on your hair. Multiple passes are necessary and treat both sides of the hair strand you're styling. After your hair strand dried and then becomes warm, it's done so stop and move on.

one thing i’ve learned as someone who uses heat literally everyday on her hair is that hydration is key. heat damage will happen no matter what, which is why using heat protectant is “solution” no. 1. you should also invest in hydrating products, maybe get a trim, and heartless hairstyle to help you bounce back from damaged hair
@pinkblueberryyy8 ай бұрын
It’s heat protectant meant to be applied only on wet/damp hair? The instructions always say that but it irks me bc i only curl my hair when it’s dry so will the heat protectant still be as effective
@Maqueling6 ай бұрын
Hair isn't skin, hydration makes your hair more susceptible to breakage which is why it's moisturizing over hydrating. You need to lock in the moisture and create an occlusive layer, not walk around with humectants in your hair. They'll just dry out your hair, create frizz and make it brittle.

Fun fact from a licensed cosmetologist: dryer brushes and “air straight/curl” is meant to be used on 70-80% dry hair as a finish. NOT to be used as the whole blow dry.
