Fantastic video on your horror anthology collection, Bryn! I absolutely love it when people talk about their horror portmanteau movie collection, as I have always loved this genre and never get tired of talking about it and hearing other people's opinions on these movies. You have quite a few there that I really must get for my collection, especially NIGHTMARE CINEMA, SCARY OR DIE and SCARE PACKAGE. In terms of other horror anthologies which you might like to check out yourself, I would highly recommend THE HOUSE ON TERROR TRACT (which has a great framing story starring John Ritter as a dodgy estate agent, and features a real creepy tale of one of the most malevolent monkeys I have ever seen in a horror movie!), TRILOGY OF TERROR 1 and 2 (who could EVER forget that vicious little zulu warrior doll?), FROM A WHISPER TO A SCREAM (starring the late, great Vincent Price), DEAD OF NIGHT (which has that utterly unforgettable - and oh so creepy - story BOBBY) and THE DEVIL'S MESSENGER (which stars the late, great Lon Chaney Jr. as Satan in the framing story). Couldn't agree more with you on the Amicus horror anthologies. They are my special favourites, and I always love revisiting them. Recently got a great book on the studio too, which I reviewed in a recent video.

Great stuff man. Some ones I recommend Tales from the Hood 1 is the best part 2 you can take or leave it. Part 3 is pretty fun. Trilogy of Terror 1&2 are both good. Dead of Night from 1972 made for TV and one of the segments was remade for trilogy of Terror 2 Monsterland is pretty fun. Zombie World oh man the first segment and the last segments are insane

Really love a good anthology. Totally agree with you on Creepshow, a complete let down. You can't go wrong with Amicus - Asylum, From Beyond The Grave, Tales From The Crypt - love them. For me, it doesn't get any better than Dead Of Night, a stone cold classic. Great video on a great subject 👍

As with your entire movie collection, this was darn impressive. And a ton of great movies in this one. Of course I agree with you on the Hammer and Amicus stuff. Hands down the best the genre(if anthology counts as a genre) has to offer. That being said, I don't think I've seen Asylum. I will add it to my list asap. And you are right...it is tough to beat The Raft. Great life lesson in that one too. Never taunt the slime monster. I actually saw Deadtime Stories at the theater as a kid. On a weeknight too. Same with Night Train to Terror. I'm a big fan of that one. I even managed to track down one of the full length films that was edited down into one of the skits.

This was a long video so thank you for watching! I nearly taunted a slime monster once but it just happened to be a delightful misunderstanding.

To be honest , the thing I remember most from The Monster Club was all the bands that played between the stories. I think Night song The Stripper might have inspired the video for Robbie Williams song Rock DJ where he rips all his flesh off while dancing.

Hi Bryn. Happy New Year. A heavy hitter I’m surprised you didn’t mention was Mario Bava’s - Black Sabbath (inspiration for an excellent band 😜) i would urge you to check it out if you haven’t already. The Amicus Anthologies are all so good. Trick R Treat was a decent one from the last couple of years. Keep up the good work mate.

I do love a anthology horror movie but it’s very hard to get one that they are all great. The abc of death is a very mixed bag but has got some good moments, Not seen the sequel yet. Body bags is so much fun and one of the best. Creepshow 2 I love and the best out of the 2. Ghost stories has good moments but like you I thought the ending let it down. Tales from the dark side I used to like but watched it recently and was not as good as I remembered. I used to love the v/h/s films, hopefully they will do more. Loads in here I have not seen as always and will have to go on my list. Great video and Take care bud.

Thank you, mate. Yes, there’s only a few where I like every segment. I haven’t seen ABC of Death 2 either. Tales From The Darkside was not as good as I expected

Oh wow man, thanks for the shoutout bro, that made me cheer! 😁 Great video, best this year easily 😏 Full disclosure, I think you know that I adore Brit horror from the 50s/60s/70s especially the amazing anthology output from Amicus. Those are in a class of their own and would dominate any top 10 list of anthologies for me. One I noticed that was missing from this era is Torture Garden which was written by Robert (Psycho) Bloch and has the brilliant Burgess Meredith as Dr Diablo and the ever fantastic Peter Cushing. Check it out when you can Bryn, you’ll be entertained. I’ve written down a few films to check out : 10/31 ABC’s of death part 1 (I have 2 already and that’s a mix of being nuts and bloody brilliant) Body Bags looks like a great premise so might have to get that. I’ve just ordered Dead of Night today (along with non anthology, Peeping Tom) so really looking forward to this. So I will let you know what I think of them when I do. Cannot fault the VHS films, especially the first two. If the first segment of the first film doesn’t make a bloke wince then he’s not paying attention! 😟 All Hallows’ Eve is awesome. I really wish there was a follow up to Terrifier. Hopefully another anthology. I felt Creepshow was such a missed opportunity with such big names. When you said Ghost Stories I expected the 2017 film.. which is actually pretty good! Saw the stage play it was based on and that made me jump out of my skin. Thanks again mate, this has given me lots of films to investigate! Take care bro and see you in the next one! ☺️
@horrorhands8793 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed your video! :) Amicus are definitely the best for anthologies. It seems I missed a few from my collection including Torture Garden, I have it and it's really good so apologies for forgetting that one. I really hope you enjoy Dead Of Night, I'm sure you will. That was the 2017 Ghost Stories lol! I enjoyed some of it but I thought the ending was weak. I'd love to see the stage play though. Thank you so much again for watching!
