Hi guys!
We have always wanted to have our horses in one group so decided to put Chase and Antares together for the first time. They where very good at the end but there was a small accident when Chase slipped on the grass whilst galloping and I decided to leave that out. it was a little disturbing to watch and it wasn't the point of the video.

I understand you reasoning for censoring the video, but horses fall all the time, there is nothing graphic about it (Well deepens on the fall) but in chases case, they were playing and the horse slipped, that would like like you and your new friend playing around and one of you slipped and got back up with no problem. I dont see any need for the censor, but I understand it.

@Annabel Hawksworth I agree with you. Horses just being horses and as Matt said it's normal and natural. They're not as fragile as some people think and the likelyhood of a serious injury is very low. We can't molly coddle them. Infact horses that are molly coddled with a lot of human interference are the most miserable horses. Because humans stop them doing what is most natural to them. Like rough housing in a field and living natually in a herd. Stabling also causes conflick in the field too, as every day hierarchy as to be reestablished after being seperated every night. I undertand not everyone has the luxury of lots of land to turn out in a herd 24/7 though. But it shows horses have a great tolerance of human interference. I love introduing a new horse to my others. The way they prance, display and gallop around is funny and beautiful and it's usually over in a few second and the pecking order is established, harmonly returns.

Annabel Hawksworth he doesn’t want his younger viewers to get upset from the footage. He did the right thing for the sake of his viewers. Very very disturbing things, such as leafs falling from trees in fall. Have you seen all the dead leaves in autumn? Have YOU seen them? All yellow with death and red from tree blood? THE TREES DIE A LITTLE *gets triggered* GETS PTSD*. Oh my god, a horse falling? Better shelter yo wife and yo kids from watching Tom & Jerry then, you'll traumatise them with cats slipping on banana peels and falling flat, you evil creatures.

This is so great example of two horses with dominant tendencies communicating. How Chase pretty quickly starts to appreciate the other horse and doesn’t go to his space without his permission and backs away giving him space whenever it seems like there could be conflict. Horses are smart and they will find their place in the hierarchy.

As a trainer and breeder the kicking part is a lot scarier to me than watching a fall. I’m assuming from the position the horse was in the thumbnail that his legs went out to the side whilst turning and he landed on his side. I’ve seen horses fall like that hundreds of times (especially the babies). I’ve even fallen like that with horses a few times in a jumping course if I took a fast tight turn on slippery footing. While it might look spectacular, never once have I seen an injury from that, besides scrapes and bruises. However, I’ve seen severe injuries, even broken legs from one horse kicking another horse.

Maybe you could post an uncensored version but change the settings of it's visibility somehow so that you can only see it if you click a link in the description? I don't know if that made sense but Vet Ranch does it so KZfaq doesn't demonetise the videos because of the surgeries. I only suggest this because a few of us are actually wondering what happened, and to be fair you even titled your video "My Horse Falls Down Whilst Galloping" but we saw none of it and the thumbnail even shows a pic....so an uncensored version would be nice, not just clickbait. Just saying :/

Introducing dominant horses is always difficult. A trainer told me to take them both to a neutral pasture that neither one consider “theirs” and put them together. They will need to sort out their dominance but not feel like they need to protect their property. Yours did great and you did great. Congrats on getting them together and you appeared cool, calm and collected.

Would have definitely been interesting to see the footage. After spending about 45minutes just grooming my hormonal mare the other day - I tacked her up and walked her out of the wash bay. As we were walking her down to the arena she reared up behind me so naturally I let go of the reins and jumped to the side. Her rearing up suddenly actually caused her to slip underneath herself and she fell over - to which she got up and then lay down immediately after. Shocked out of my mind - I tried to pull and push her up, worrying that she'd popped a hip or broken something.... I undid her girth and tried to get the saddle out however one of the stirrups had come loose so it wouldnt slide out. I noticed her tongue going a bit blue so I massaged her pallet and decided to take the bridle off. As soon as the bit was out - she licked her lips - realised there was no bit and proceeded to stand up and SIMPLY WALK AWAY. Tried to catch her again to check her over - she air bucked and started galloping around the field. Never buy a mare. GO GELDING! xD Hormones are strange things for THB Mares xD.

I love that you understand the process of horses getting acquainted and establishing order without interference or losing your cool. You did good safety measures but you also know that horses are horses and it’s all instinct. Of course supervising is important but 99.99% of these things happen quickly and without major incident. My horse slipped once too it’s so scary luckily those things are fairly uncommon. It kills me how people do think this is wrong or unnatural I’m like what do you think they do in the wild? They establish the order and must accept if they want to belong. Any herd or pack animal does this. Concede or leave. You let them work it out, it’s cool you put out educational videos in addition to competition and riding.

You keep doing just what you are doing and never mind what others say! Safety first is a motto everyone should adapt. There would be far less accidents this way. I applaud you for caring so much about both horses safety. Again, more owners need to adapt your way of introductions. Thank you for being so kind and caring.

A fall can be very scary to someone who has never been around horses but, it does happen. I’m glad you left that out for the sake of of young riders who may watch this. You do such a great job at explaining you methods and techniques that a few nips and kicks with thorough exam afterwards should be okay for anyone. My granddaughter loves to watch you. Kez Platt lol me too! It's not rude. I thought that was what the video was about. Saw the horse laying on the ground. And the longer he waits to put them together again, it's going to be that bad again. I would have left them in together longer. Chase got the message. He knows who the dominant one is. They were finally starting to settle and get to know one another.

For viewers that are a bit younger( remember kids etc who may love horses and dont get to be around them, or who haven't seen anything like this before) I feel like he did the right thing. We all want to see what happened, but knowing he is looking out for not just his adult viewers but for his younger ones as well shows he is being responsible. He can't control who watches his content but he CAN control what they see and what he feels may bother some. Even with the fall blicked you still saw everything that happened which was nice:)

I think the introduction went really well though. At first they had to establish who was higher and at a certain point they both accepted that Antares was higher and was able to move chase’s feet. Also great that you did it in a big open field. One tip is to put piles of hay as something to keep their minds on instead of eachother.

I've been watching some of your videos. I've been so impressed with your horsemanship, your curiosity and your level head that I had to comment. Been wanting to see more of your riding! The riding I've seen tells me you have soft hands and a natural seat. When I see a rider in dressage with hands like yours, I just want to watch more of the dance. That real connection and partnership, the magic... I do believe your going places, kid. Your really on the right track, IMO. How about a vid of a warm up or work out or maybe a lesson? I do believe your on the verge of light bulbs.

Please get his back checked to be safe , I looked after a 17.3 ex race horse that fell in full gallop and he ended up with kissing spine he had a massive operation. This horse is worth a lot of money and means a lot to him there’s no way he’d not get him fully checked out by an expert vet thoroughly with any and all necessary checks being carried out. You can tell from his videos he’s an intelligent horse person who knows what he’s doing and this video is testimony to that there’s a lot of idiot horse people on KZfaq who wouldn’t get them checked but don’t think he’s one of them. I’ll also add that whilst the fall of your horse didn’t help and may have contributed in some way to kissing spine the condition is more often than not caused by other factors and sometimes is the genetic make up of some horses with short backs the biggest worry with a fall like this would be tendon/ligament strains and damage along with any fractures of the withers, back neck ect.:)

Next time maybe it can help to he with 2 people so if things get too rough you have an extra hand. Love how much you care for chase.
