Let me know if you like this concept! If so I'll buy a microphone etc for it so you can't hear him moving around so much 🙄 (and I'll hopefully get better at telling stories and talking in long format in-front of a camera and for the audio only listeners!! 😅)

Oh no, poor Pinot !! His tail definitely looks cut rather than chewed….I would be fuming 😤 . Hannah your horses are always in tip top condition and so well cared for, you shouldn’t have to defend yourself to anyone ! Loving having your vlogs again ❤️🥰

I am so sorry about Pinot. His tail was cut-this happened to my friend’s top show horse. That was an accident with a camp kid with scissors got away and cut her horse’s tail by mistake. The ruthless people are just want to be know it alls, proving that a little knowledge is a terrible thing. They don’t consider many factors. I’ve worked extensively with ottbs in my life and ones as big as Pinot will never be ‘beefy’ without work. They are just huge, need a ton of food and will still look lean. Though he looks beefy to me! Hugs to you and well done in standing up for yourself!

I love this concept! As a shift-worker I (and the dogs) appreciate the background noise and chatter of music and podcasts. I vibe with the casual-aussie conversations, makes it much less lonely. Carole is probably the same lady that abused me, calling me cruel, for not putting a rug on my mare when it was 10 degrees 🙄 I went out to check her and she was TOASTY 😂 People are so judgemental! Aaargh. So irritating. I think someone cut his tail. It's STRAIGHT so a dead give away. Really creepy. Must be so stressful knowing someone can just walk in. 😵

Not only is it cut straight, Flume and Pinot are not close and on top of that it happened overnight, which is I think a big sign that someone cut it 😓 Edit: oh and there was no hair around the paddock as well

Baby horses can be super sneaky when they chew tails! I have seen babies with older horses that HATE them and they still manage to find a way. They often can’t feel when their tail is being chewed so he might have been extra sneaky 🙈 haha

First of all I love this!! I'm a huge podcast person so I would be thrilled if you made these into podcasts on Spotify or the like. Forums can be brutal. I have a policy of never telling someone what to do, always saying what I would do or what I have done. And also only answering the question they asked about! You're doing a great job so screw Carol and her opinions.

I've got a yearling colt in with a couple geldings. He has chewed their tails off. Neither of them looks like that. That honestly looks cut. If you found it with some longer, uneven strands and then evened it out yourself, it was probably chewed.. but to be that precise.. that's scissors/knife. He doesn't look underweight, just under muscled--for a show horse--which he isn't right now. Anyone saying otherwise needs to go outside and care for their horse instead of sitting on ass getting snarky online.

My mare is on paddock rest and looks way more feral but still a pretty girl, your Pinot is cute. She also came to me on the truck with no tail and had no idea why, hers looked very uneven and obviously got stuck on something. It's crazy what people can do to others horses, it's a dark subject that should be brought to light.

I had a similar situation happen to me with a horse the I was leasing, I avoid posting things like this on Facebook purely because the keyboard warriors take things out on context and make other people fell like shit when they truely have no idea about you or your horse. Even tho we know we are doing our best and we take care of our horses it does make you feel bad and it’s just crap. People can be so nasty and at the end of the day you can’t let those things get to you and generally if I absolutely need advice I go to people I look up to ect like instructors because atleast those people know you take care of your horses and will give helpful advice. Loved this little chit chat type video 😍

People think they know what they are talking about however what they don't know is that each horse is different and have a different body shape and have different needs. Obviously Pino is a retired lanky thoroughbred that loves his retired life and that being his with his size and shape that's just how he is. People should focus more on the idea rather than the hate and go by the theory if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all. BTW love the chit chat idea very entertaining!😊

Buy Hydrophane Cribox paste and put it in his tail, if it was Flume he won’t do it again!! We would do that in every single horses tail at the stud farm I worked on to prevent chewing. It also leaves a horrible spicy, burning residue if you touch it so would discourage people from cutting the tail if that was the cause

We both have big horses that were bought as projects and are now paddock ornaments. Some years ago, a showie had her horse's tail cut. In that case, the thief had a really good pair of scissors and cut it clean off. She was given permission to use a false tail at Sydney Royal (back when that wasn't allowed). I would have been massively creeped out if it happened to my horse. I think I will call her Karen.

This same thing happened to a young girl's pony at a performance stable I was agisting my horse at, full of beautiful high level dressage horses and one morning the pony was found with as little tail as your boy! NO traces of tail anywhere and was kept in an individual yard too. Had very blunt ends and looked hacked off by shears, the girl's father was convinced it was done by someone trespassing and that they got the wrong horse... which was a terrifying thought. Just so disrespectful, was so sorry to see the same may have been done to Pino

He looks beautiful. Most horses in my area are too fat. They get lush grass and not enough exercise. My gelding tends to be leaner as well, eating tons, in light work. It’s easier on the horse to be a bit slimmer than overweight. ❤️

He looks like he belongs in one of those old thoroughbred paintings with his short tail! It does look like it got cut, but I've never seen a chewed tail before either. Patchy manes, however, those were abundant at my old barn. Too many flies combined with allergies caused many a mane rub on the fence...

There was a lady at my old barn who had two horses whose tails had been cut one night before she moved to my previous barn. They both where friendly horses and would walk up to anyone in turnout so that is why theirs were taken most likely. People cut them for fake tails. This was in the US at least so I am not sure about other places. I would bet that happened if he is friendly in turnout.

You are right in what you say because only you and you alone know how your horse feels and reacts to certain things so only you have a right to criticise yourself do not listen to other people unless it is helpful criticism people in the equestrian world are just to brutal sometimes and jump in with both feet before thinking about what they are saying and about the people they are saying it to I think he looks great for a thoroughbred so thank you for being honest and I would get cameras on your property if you can because chopping any horses tail is not right especially if it not your horse if that is what happened

Cattle and goats are pretty good at nibbling off tails. If your horse is pastured where they can reach your horse, they may be the culprits.

Me side-eyeing way too many people keeping their horses too fat because they know perfectly well that an overweight horse will never receive the same scrutiny as one that is slightly light. People will eviscerate someone for keeping a horse unrugged in natural conditions and with friends, but not say a word about someone over-stalling, over-rugging, and depriving their horses of all the basics a horse actually needs, as long as it's fat and shiny. Our standards of what makes a happy and healthy horse have become so distorted. A lack of muscle is not a big deal. Slightly lighter condition is far better than the obesity many owners strive for. Mud doesn't hurt them. For what it's worth I think he's about perfect weight too. He's not even light.
@TKDDLJ09
@TKDDLJ09 3 жыл бұрын
First off. That picture you posted of his tale, looked like he was resting his hind leg, so naturally it will look bad. Second off. He is not even remotely undersweight from what i can see on this video, yes he lacks muscles, but like considering he isnt being ridden, its actually pretty well in the muscle department. Also how are you supposed to get muscles on him when it hurts him when training. He looks great. His coat looks great and his condition is great. People have gotten so used to horses being to fat and taken its as the normal, but if you look at top horses in eventing you wont see the chunky horses that you see home in Caroles yard.

He looks great. I had the police and humane people after me because I had a yearling gaited, mustang, in a field of aged quarter horses. They were halter breds and chubby. Navada was tiny and straight from the BLM pens( Bureau of Land Management). He was very sick and took two years to fill out all he would. Later he was used at a festival to teach people about thin horses. It was discovered he was overweight and needed work to develop muscle. I had him 24 years. His last year he go fat!
@hannahwalker4060

He literally looks fine. Horse people are seriously the meanest people, both in person and on the internet. Idk why people freak out when they see mud on a horse. They're not made out of tissue paper and sugar, a little mud won't hurt him! This whole trend where people treat their horses like fragile little things is super annoying. What's also annoying is all the people who over feed their horses and make them fat. I'd rather see a horse slightly (key word being slightly) under weight than over weight. Obviously both are bad, but being over weight is worse imo. I worked for a trainer for a long time and the amount of morbidly obese horses we got in for training was awful. My boss joked that he liked it because they got tired more easily so they wouldn't put up as much of a fight😂 Also IMO, his tail looks cut. I've seen plenty of chewed tails, and there is no way another horse that he doesn't let near him could do that over night. Best of luck from the US!

The people that have nothing nice to say and judge you when they no nothing about the situation (but think they no everything) probably sit there all day hating on everyone because it's the only way they can feel good about themselves. People are ruthless and judgy online. They sit there behind their keyboard and live vicariously through you and your horsey life. They feel free to make negative, rude, ignorant comments about everything you do. Your horses' tail was probably cut off by some a-hole who wanted to sell it online. Yes, that actually happens. Or, more likely since it was only one horse out of a few, it was probably some jealous idiot who harmed your horse to spite you. You're doing well in your videos, don't give the trolls the satisfaction of a response! Block, ignore, delete!

Horse people can be so rude. I've had people tell me that my horse had done a tendon, had a chest infection, pin worms etc etc from my insta stories. But in reality: fetlock swelling was actually windgalls (horse is 18 years old and used to jump 120 tracks so always has puffy fetlocks - also not at all lame, gets treated with pentosan and regular physio), chest infection was actually a cold that was ALREADY being monitored by my vet, pinworms was actually my horse having itch in summer (he's orange and super sensitive). It's really hurtful when you know the horse, you know the history and you're providing the best care possible. People see a photo, or literally a 10 second clip and suddenly become veterinarians, nutritionists, and animal scientists. 🙄🙄🙄🙄
