Jacob and his wife worked hard to succeed in life and to buy their dream home. And nobody has the right to take it away from them. Why is it their success needs to be spit on and given to someone else? Like being successful is some how a crime now. Also why did Jacob's sister have so many kids that she cannot properly care for? Why do Jacob and his wife have to take responsibility for sister's choices? But on top of all that Jacob and his wife offered to help his sister. But his sister tried to take their home instead of growing up.

I guess it depends on the people involved. My mother is a great example of why trust can never be rebuilt. I am 68, and she is 89. I talked to her the other day and it wasn't more than a minute and a half before she was lying ang trying to manipulate me, gaslighting me that the incredible abuse I endured that caused me c-PTSD was never real. That I had a great childhood because she taught us kids how to behave. I'm still sick to my stomach for having reached out the other day. You can never trust a Narcissist.

It’s sad but sometimes family can see your success as something YOU OWE. How dare you succeed! Any thing that smacks of monetary success is something you should share with your family. However when times are bad and you are broke no one comes and demands to take a bill or that you accept financial gifts. It’s always one way and it never stops. No one should have to justify good fortune or success nor do you owe anyone anything.

The problem with that story? In the end mother came back...without Sarah. Maybe mother got also problems in her relation with Sarah and was afraid of being completely alone. The story does not tell this but it could be reason she came back after that long time. I could forgive her especially because she regrets her actions ....as the Lord tells me to do... But trusting her again would take much longer.

It's wonderful that the mother came forward but where is the sister is she denying her role in this and her harassment, there can never be true peace unless the sister also apologies for her role in this. The guy should reach out to his other sister and ask if there is anything that they can do for her if she reaches out than it's a start for peace but if not then simply walk away and continue seeking peace with the mother.
