KAITLIN, from New Hampshire, has recently faced a lot of judgement after revealing on her social media that she was in a relationship with her dead husband’s brother. Kaitlin was married to her husband Aaron for four years and had a son together. They both developed a drug addiction which made their relationship unhealthy and caused troubles in their marriage. When Kaitlin went to rehab to get clean, Aaron sadly passed away in 2016 from an overdose. While grieving, Kaitlin found comfort speaking with her husband’s brother Rory, which was a surprise as he wasn’t fond of her when she was married to his brother. While grieving, the two became close and fell for each other. They were hesitant to let their families know about the relationship and when they did, there was a lot of shock at first, especially from Aaron and Rory’s mother, who never thought Kaitlin and Rory would be close or get together. After sharing her story online, Kaitlin received a lot of negative comments on her videos, with many people calling her 'sick', but it doesn’t bother them. Rory told Truly: “Something bad happened to her and something bad happened to me and we ended up finding comfort in one another so the negativity doesn’t do anything to us." Kaitlin and Rory have now been together for seven years, have two children of their own and are raising their children from previous relationships together.

I know a woman whose husband was killedin a tragic work accident. They had two little ones when he died. His older brother started helping her with house stuff, mowing, maintenance, doing stuff with the kids. Eventually, they married and have been together over 40 years. I am good friends with the sister of the brothers and she told me no one in the family batted an eye when told. They knew theirbrother would be at peace that his wife and children would be taken care of.

My mom died too. Would I want to be raised by her sister and my dad instead of my single father alone? No. Absolutely not. That’s my aunt. That’s just disturbing. I’d want her in my life as a mother figure not in a relationship with my dad. That is disrespectful to my mother even though (she was also a drug user as well who succumbed to the lifestyle so similar circumstances) I guess we all have different perspectives but this just seems so disrespectful and wrong to me

He moved in to help raise my son and split bills.he had his own room.noone understood our pain. We cried together.we fell in love. We were happy. They didn't cheat by starting a relationship behind Aaron's back. Aaron chose to continue to use, declined rehab and ultimately died due to that decision. Was she supposed to be a single mom forever? Aaron's brother said he wasn't even that fond of her back then. Is it OK if she moved on, just not with the brother? They are consenting adults and have found comfort with each other.

This is actually not unusual. In certain tribes in Africa this used to happen. It used to happen in the tribe that I am from. It is called an inheritance. When one sibling passes another marries and takes over responsibility of the siblings wife. The reason it happened was to insure that children and widowed wives were looked after.

The only weird thing to me is the brother saying to his nephew ‘I know I’m your uncle but I’d love you to call me dad’ I think it’s a leading question for a young grieving child and they shouldn’t be encouraged to say it unless they naturally move towards it the self. Just feels like they’re edging out the memory of his real dad…

Bottom line, they were both Addicts, she got clean he didn’t and left his son without a dad. Then for the lass who got clean after finding out her child father died of an overdose. What do you thinks gonna happen when the brother comes round every day to check on everybody? Everything for her just feels familiar which is why she probably felt safe. Sure it’s different, but I very much doubt if Aaron who is still alive, she would’ve gone anywhere near the brother. Ultimately, it’s nobody‘s business as long as they have a healthy family with healthy relationships, who are we as outsiders to define what healthy relationships look like? What’s good for me may not be good for them, and what’s good for them. May not be good for us (as the viewer) but it’s their lives and their respective kids and the kids they have together seem to be happy enough, isn’t the kids all that matters ultimately and that they’re happy safe and well taken care of?

Let me tell you something...people cam judge but until the man you love who gave you your first child dies and you realize you have no dad for that child..do not judge. His baby mom and his brother loved him more than almost anyone so they have that in common. Also the uncle feels obligated to raise his brothers son and this is a way to do it. Its better for that child to have a stable two parent home life than a single mom who is grieving and struggling. I pray they stay together thru the judgement they face.

There are many things in this world that people have decided are wrong or immoral or that God has told us are immoral, but this marriage between these two is not one of them. Once her husband passed away, she was the wife of no one. There is nothing anywhere that says that this widow can't marry her husband's brother, except for minds that dream up problems.

It's so easy for people to judge... walk a mile in soneone else's shoes before judging them too harshly... you don't need to accept their relationship, all that matters is that the kids are happy and their mom got better instead of going down that same path her husband did...

They literally hated each other when Aaron was alive. Because she was destroying his brothers life. You are very ignorant obviously. And you have to live a bit longer to gain the kind of wisdom to understand the dynamic. Your view is from a toxic, unhealthy mind apparently. Your thinking is presumptuous and happens to be incorrect. Maybe KNOW what you're talking about before you make a fool of yourself. Take care and do better.

My aunt passed away due to drugs. My uncle and her have been together my whole life. I loved them both very much. My uncle and my aunts best friend are now together. At first I was mad and confused and I didn’t understand it. Now when my uncle and her come around the family I couldn’t care less. It honestly doesn’t affect anybody and it seems normal. I’m happy I can see two people that loved her very much a little less sad. This is a common thing that happens with death and people getting together tho. I miss my aunt ❤

If I tragically left behind my husband and child at a young age, I would be 100% OK with my sister helping my husband through it and being with him afterwards. I simply wouldn’t want my husband to be alone or my child to be motherless and if my sister can find love in the process, even better.

People so weirded out by this need to go visit some cemeteries and look into some genealogical records because its not anything new. It makes sense for some people. The familiarity, the things in common, looks in some cases. It doesnt seem impossible to me to have a relationship develop between 2 people who had love and memories with a mutual individual. The brothers probably had similar qualities that attracted her and she had qualities they both liked. Her son is being raised with the same family he would have otherwise, the setup just got changed around on everyone. He's never going to replace his brother as dad but he can fill the empty shoes and probably love the kid even more because its his brothers and the last bit left of his little brother. Hes seen everything this woman has been through and watched her grow and mourn. I dont think they deserve hate or to be told they are gross.

Theres 8 billion people on the planet...and she chose his brother..theres just too many questions to be asked why and how it came to be. You dont just meet someone and know them for years and not like them or find them attractive and one day wake up and do a complete 180. It just doesnt work that way, so i dont buy that at all. People talking about different cultures or back in the old days etc are delusional because that isnt the time period now or what their culture embrace. In todays time and in american culture it is looked down upon. That is just the truth. Some things you just dont do.
