OMG! These are called Monte Cristos! I had this many years ago and haven’t thought about it for a long time, they were served with a little syrup. The ingredients for the filling was ham and Swiss Cheese. Thank you for this video, brought me bank to a very special time,

Substitute chicken, turkey, or beef for the pork & I'm all in. (Some of us don't eat pork.) I love grilled cheese sandwiches. Kind of like a marriage of French toast & grilled cheese with meat. Yum, yum, yummy.

I make something similar but use turkey slices instead of ham I then use two slices of Tomato. Just like you used two slices of cheese Absolutely delicious 😋

Looks so good!! Is there a reason you didn’t dip the slices in the egg mixture before layering (just one side as you did with it all together) Seems like that would be easier - didn’t know if there was a specific reason?

Baked grilled cheese (plus). I've never tried this, but since it seems like when I fry them, I usually burn them or don't cook them long enough, I should try it.

But seriously, like I'm always telling my wife, recipes are just a springboard for the culinary imagination. Take an idea and make it your own. I'm honestly curious as to how you would make it. I'm thinking about three pieces of meat like an Italian Trio with the same amount of cheese they used.

I do recommend that in between dipping the sandwich in the egg and adding extra cheese, take a moment and do yourself a favour and dial for an ambulance. It'll save you precious moments when your clutching for breath....

I don't care for the processed, chopped and formed ham that's being used in this video, I use han carved right off a smoked ham shank. I like your recipe and it's very similar to my recipe. Thanks for sharing. ❤

now there's a blast from the past. That's not a new idea. My mum used to do these for me and my brothers and sisters for breakfast and that was in the 1970s. Think nearly every family did these back then. I'm nearly 80 years old and I still have them for breakfast. They so dam scrumptious tho. from 🇬🇧 an old cockney gal. 😄👍👍
