AD200 Description:
The AD200 TTL Pocket Flash Kit from Godox is built around a unique flash light source that has a standard speedlite head and a bare bulb head that give you the option of 2 distinctly different qualities of light. The kit comes with the 2 heads, lithium battery, charger and carry case.
The speedlight head outputs the standard look of an on-camera flash that can be modified using an optional softbox, beauty dish or umbrella. The bare bulb head features a removable flash tube and produces 360 degrees of soft, bright, nearly shadowless light. The head uses optional reflectors that focus the beam angle and give you directional control. The AD200 has impressive core features such as 200 Ws of power adjustable in 8 steps from 1/128 to 1/1, recycling from 0.01 to 2.1 seconds and flash durations as short as 1/11,300 sec. The flash runs on a removal rechargeable lithium battery that will give you up to 500 full power flashes and thousands of lower power flashes.
The AD200 has 3 flash modes: Manual, TTL, and Multi (Stroboscopic). Manual outputs the user's choice of power, modeling light, first or second curtain sync, etc. Multi controls the stroboscopic rate up to 90 times (90 Hz). TTL takes advantage of the flash head's built-in X1 receiver. Optional X1 TTL transmitters are available for Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic and Fuji cameras. They will also detect a separately purchased LED head. The 32-channel wireless system controls flash mode, first and second curtain sync, High-speed sync up to 1/8000 sec, power level, modeling lamp and ready beeper at distances up to 328'. Firmware updates are obtainable on the Godox website.
Built-In 2.4 GHz Wireless X System
Built-in wireless receiver: control triggering power level, alert beep with optional wireless transmitter. Compatible with Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic and Fuji TTL.
Bare Bulb and Speedlight Flash Heads
Bare bulb and speedlite flash heads are included to vary your quality of light. Color temperature is a steady 5600K over the entire power range.
Large Capacity Lithium Battery Pack
The 14.4 V / 2900 mAH battery pack gets 500 full power flashes with 0.01 to 2.1 sec. recycling.
AV Panel
Easily readable digital panel displays your adjustments
Accessories
Barn Doors, color filters and diffusers are available to personalize your work.

Flashpoint introduces the next step in the evolution of the outstanding R2 Family. The eVOLV 200, with the heart of the world famous Streaklight 360 TTL and the soul of the ever popular XPLOR 600 TTL, compatible with R2 Canon, Nikon and Sony. A compact and efficient solution for travel, easy setup and the reliability of the R2 Wireless System. Never before has off camera lighting been so user friendly and masterful. It will change the way you harness your camera’s technology.
The new eVOLV 200 is not just a 200 watt second fully cordless TTL strobe, but an amazing miniaturized modular “SpeedMonoLight” system with interchangeable flash heads. You can snap in the best of traditional speedlite style Fresnel heads at GN170 (ft) or chose to use to the barebulb parabolic reflector head at GN 196 (ft) with super even spread, just by plugging it in. The incredible amount of power and control in these compact and lightweight flashes, make this design a first choice of professional photographers with an eye for flexible multiple light set up. The eVOLV 200 is the next evolution of the Flashpoint R2 radio system, totally compatible with the Canon, Nikon and Sony systems, for remote power control and shooting. With a focus on portable lighting, the R2 family frees your camera to go out and shoot at will.
The rewards of experience and innovation brings you an amazing miniaturized modular R2 2.4GHz wireless 200ws lithium powered TTL “SpeedMonoLight” with a max recycle time of under 2 seconds and enough energy to cover at least 500 full power shots.

My only concern with my design idea: Using the existing AD-B2 would require using the pins, and if the head had to be the same size, then it would stick out way too deep in a modifier. I think an AD-B2 (V2) would be better suited, with the round head recessed and directly connecting to the AD200s, rather than being adapted.

You have a great catalog of content. This video is still very relevant nearly four years later. After shooting video almost exclusively for the last 7 years I am going to do more quality photography. I already have a client base, cameras, LED lighting and a studio. All I need is flash. I'm pulling the trigger on Godox equipment, due almost exclusively on your videos. I've watched guys rave about Profoto and other equipment, but there is something about the way you simplify needs that sold me on Godox. I also feel like your tips, setups and accessories will work for me. Thank you. You probably saved me a lot of money.

Spot on again Robert! People started loosing it when they saw photos on Facebook stating “round is better” then posting images of bare flashes placed ten feet from a white wall in a dark room. It’s simply not a real world instance and a pure marketing thing. Do us a favor and debunk those images by placing those two different heads inside a light modifier (7” cone, umbrella, octabank and a rectangular softbox) and photograph a model against a white wall in a dark room.

Agree that the barebulb produces better light inside a softbox. I love your idea - it would definitely make it super easy to use gells, which I love. Pretty much the only time I use the Fresnel head is when I am using Magmods, which is surprisingly often. Magmod should be the ones making such an item and I noticed that they have some softboxes coming out next year that use magnets (of course!). They should be able to reap the rewards of their innovation for a little while longer before everyone rips them off.

This isn’t the first magnet mod for the ad200 the barn door attachment for the fresnel head has magnets to hold the gels in place, although sometimes the tiny magnets work their way out of the mounting holes.
@michaelbyz23
@michaelbyz23 6 жыл бұрын
Magnets are good for small modifiers that need speed and portability. Any softbox bigger than 60*60 will be too heavy for magnets to hold them firm enough not to be knocked out by wind when you're shooting outdoor. So yes, magnets for smaller and lighter modifiers.
@rickymcc8624
@rickymcc8624 6 жыл бұрын
Agree magnet attaching is a good way to go which will likely gain currency. Don't see it totally userping Velcro which, whilst not quite as fast, provides a stronger attachment than 'small' magnets. Big magnets couldn't work well without an electro switch function - as big mags for really strong hold would likely be too heavy and hard to separate. Do like your idea for AD-B2 mod using 400 Ws head that could take fast gelling. Aside from gelling it's hard to see how adaption adds much to 2 bare bulbs save possibly robustness and convenience at extra cost - if made would likely be a minority interest. How about a gellable dome adaptor for 600 Ws mono head?

You know the metal bulb protector cover you can buy for the ad200? - surely godox could just release a range of coloured plastic covers that you'd just slide on before popping on a bowens modifier
@rickymcc8624
@rickymcc8624 6 жыл бұрын
godsakes, now that does sound like a neat idea. Yet on reflection I cannot see it ever happening on a commercial scale. Given range of gells, modest cost of gells etc one can see why it's unlikely to happen. Bayonet fit in plastic would be point of weakness. High cost of plastic tooling moulds would likely make it necessary to sell at a premium which probably makes idea unviable. Finally from end user perspective it is too bulky to store more than one or two..... So neat though it initially seemed IMO I can't see it ever getting to market.
@godsakes
@godsakes 6 жыл бұрын
Well try a variant of the idea - A thin plastic cover similar to the metal protector with a stencil to cut a piece of gel to shape (a rectangle with a smaller circle kinda shape - which folds into a cylinder with cap) which you just slide inside the plastic cover

Benjamin Leavitt understand the desire but it's almost certainly never going to happen. Chinese companies aren't traditional corporate collaborators they seem to prefer to copy (or steal) good ideas found elsewhere, leveraging price for competitive advantage. Harsh generalisation but often true. Also it's generally competition that drives innovation and consumer benefit. Amalgamating competitors is generally working against consumer interest.

Do you think its better to use AD200's bare bulbs with and softboxes (36x36'') OR brollies. I used two AD200 with 47" brollies on a large 12 person family shoot and got a lot of shadows on the wall (admittedly they were too close to plain wall) then switched to fresnel heads and there was less shadows. I much prefer to use bare bulbs because better spread of light. Do you think there might have been too much 'spread' ?

No I never experience misfires. Typically it's due to : EFCS on, not being in fill flash, inproper seating of trigger, or firmware issues. I know some users recently reported the most recent Sony firmware causing misfires. I haven't updated my cameras yet to avoid that.

Here is my ldea,for AD-B3. why they wouldn't put 3 bareball lamp in a bowens mount adapter and use 3meters cord to switch it to 3pcs of AD200 units(such as H1200 for ad600) And so on we will get 600w\s power source in 1 light weight adapter with generator or 3 gifferent power sources

I do not really understand the use of this round head : Modeling lamp ? 4.3 watts o.O With modifier ? We lose bare bulb and the light is modeled a first time, like for any internal tube. Without modifier ? Which difference with AD-S2 ? Behind the plastic, this round head is really similar, quality of light too i presume. So ?

Forget magnets. If you have a round-headed unit, like the A1, then the filters and other accessories should SCREW onto the head like filters screw onto lenses. The attachment would work better and add less weight. People complain a lot that the A1's accessories fall off easily, and a threaded mount system would eliminate this problem completely. And yes, your modifiers would no longer grab onto every metal thing in your bag and equipment closet.
@robhallphoto
@robhallphoto 6 жыл бұрын
I think they avoid that because it would conflict with stacking on some designs.
@JCNY718
@JCNY718 6 жыл бұрын
I have two A1s and I've used my friends ad200... a1s are much lighter, better designed, and also recycle much quicker. The AD200 is way more powerful, like a lot... Everything has its pros and cons, buy the best in your budget and shoot cool photos.
@robhallphoto
@robhallphoto 6 жыл бұрын
I'd consider the A1 more on par with a V860II as oppose to the AD200.
@robhallphoto
@robhallphoto 6 жыл бұрын
Also, as a matter of being thorough, the A1 does not recycle faster than an AD200. You have to equal their light output to compare their recycle speeds. At full power, the A1 recycles at 1.2s, the AD200 at 1/2 power would still be more light output than the A1 and be at 1s recycle time.
@JCNY718
