I just want to thank you a lot. I regularly followed your videos and dreamt one day to work at McGill. Last month my dream came true and joined as a Clinical Research Coordinator at MUHC Glen for Oncology Research, now everyday saw those words outside Royal Victoria, Dream Big 😊

Hi Faria, truly informative and comprehensive video. I will be shortly joining McGill as Research Associate; a Level-4 Employee. The offer letter states that Salary will be Base Salary + Benefits (25-28%). Could you please explain how much Salary I will be getting in hand ? Will it be " Base Salary + benefits - Tax" = Salary in hand per Month ? If possible, could you please elaborate with an example ? Thank You
@thebrownfeministcanada
@thebrownfeministcanada 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks a lot for your comment. When I joined I had the same thing written on my contract and I had emailed my department/faculty's HR unit to ask about it. At the time they had told me the "benefits" portion is not paid out, but is rather reserved for when needed. For example when you go on vacation, they pay your paid vacation days, or if u go on medical leave, they pay u out from that fund etc. so, all i receive is the salary minus taxes and deductions. The taxes for QC were higher than ontario (where I moved from). So, you can check online how much your income tax deductions will be.

@@liviyabags You are eligible for medical and dental at group rates. So, it comes down to be very cheap ($12-$20$/paycheck). It's an extensive plan at Manulife. I am not sure about tuition and would recommend contacting HR. Good luck and welcome to McGill :)

Hi. Thanks for these videos. Ive been working as an RN (nurse clinician) at the Neuro for a few years. Been considering trying research nursing but its quite a mystery to me as an outsider. How much of your work requires you to speak french? Is the job you are discussing here part of the MUHC RI?

I would recommend a pgd -post graduate diploma in clinical research. Since you already have a lot of clinical knowledge, you just need training on the research side of things. The rest depends on where you want to live and work.

@thebrownfeministcanada
@thebrownfeministcanada Жыл бұрын
Hello. It would depend on your other academic background and work experience. A certification in clinical research is helpful but it alone may not guarantee a job as a CRA as you need at least some experience through placements, internships etc. But for entry level positions if u have a science/health science degree, that in combination with a certificate may be enough. I am not sure if u meant u are a US Citizen and want to work in Canada or not? I did not understand that part of your question.
