Thank you so much doc. Regarding the AMC, is it compulsory to write the part 2 once one passes the part one? Secondly, I wish to know if the part one makes one eligible to practice, and if yes, as what? A general practitioner? And then the part 2 qualifies one for residency training kinda? I appreciate if all these are responded to. TIA

Hi Dr Harry, Your welcome. To answer your questions, no it’s kit compulsory to pass the part 2 exams but however they do help you secure a job over the other applicants. With part 1, you can either apply to hospitals with with WBA or RMO roles with level 1 supervision. You are eligible to practice as a RMO Ina hospital or as a GP through the PEP pathway but requires you to do the PESCI exam (similar to the AMC Clinical exam but more so and interview). You require Part 2 or get general registration through WBA to enter any form of training except the GP pathway . Hope this help Kind Regards, KP Balan

Hi Dr Cong, Orthopaedics is one of the tough and competitive fields. You can definitely apply for it but you will need to work on your CV. Have a Masters and Phd. You will also have to satisfy the eligibility criteria of the college if that is what you like to aspire for. Surgery in general is very competitive and can be a long road. The alternate pathway would be the specialist by completing your fellowship in UK/ Canada. Hope this helps, KP Balan

Hey Dr. KP Balan : Would be grateful if you could please answer these questions: I am kind of confused whether AMC 1 score matters or its just pass/fail? How possible is it to have workplace based assessment after passing AMC 1? Can you work straight after AMC 1 or it’s an hoax? At what level would you be allowed to do locum? Can we possibly do it after AMC 1? How much time would you suggest preparing for AMC 1 and AMC 2? Sorry for the long list! TIA
@imgguideinaus
@imgguideinaus 7 ай бұрын
Hi Dr, 1. Honestly speaking with the current job market the main importance is to pass the exams and not the score itself. A good score does help in terms of when you are competing with other candidates with just AMC 1 for the same position. 2. Regarding WBA, you have to secure it in a hospital that is accredited for WBA and usually work there for 6 m to 12m depending on the hospital, area and the position (i.e. RMO/Reg). 3. Then they approach you and ask if your keen for WBA after assessment of your performance. You can definitely work after AMC part 1 given that you are able to secure a job. 4. Depends on you personal and time commitment. Full time commitment with no other responsibilities, AMC MCQ - 5 months and Clinical 6 months. Again this is just based on my experiences and my opinion. Please do realise in the current circumstances there can be variable opinions. Hope this helps, KP Balan

Hey Dr. KP Balan, an aspiring psychiatrist here from India, I have a few doubts, I'd like it if you could help me out:- 1. What do you do after general registration? Can you directly apply for specialty training? 2. Who is an RMO? 4. I have confusion regarding who is a resident and a registrar in australia. 5. Can you directly apply for specialty training after internship, or do you need to work as an RMO/Resident for 1 or 2 years before getting into specialty training. (if anything like this exists) 6. How and when do you apply for visa and what kind of visa in order to get PR? Please look into my questions, I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Hi Dr Certamen, Well once you have completed your speciality in orthopaedics, you have to work couple of years in the field. Once you have completed the years, you can apply through the specialist pathway and see if you get a job here. Unfortunately, unless it’s a fellowship, the training back home is not recognised. So your only option would be the specialist pathway and then join the fellowship program here. Hi Doc, Not true at all. It depends on what residency you would like to join and what your qualifications and experience is. Certain fellowship programs require PR/ Citizenship which you might be eligible once you pass the exams. The best way to get into a fellowship program is to clear both the exams as soon as possible. Any other route may take longer. This is subjective to how fast you pass the clinical and MCQ exams and when you give them. Hope this helps Kind Regards, KP Balan

My questions are , as you mentioned in the video that after AMC 2 you got the job offer after 2 months ? How did you apply for it ? Did you got to Australia or was it a online process ? 2. What job position you were offered ? As a intern PG Y 1 or PGY 2 ? As you mentioned you already had a one year internship so I am assuming the job offer you got was PGY 2 3. After how many year of work ( job ) were you able to get in the desired Residency program, or for any other IMG after how many years of work they will be allowed to apply for the desired specialty residency program ? 4. Is it hard to get the job offer just with AMC 1 and English test ? Is it possible if I opt to do the AMC 2 after I get job? Which will help me get the best. I know it’s a long list of questions but I am really confused with the process. Looking forward to your kind response. Thank you

Hi Doctor, Thank you so much ! 1. I applied through all the online platforms. At the time the job market for doctors were tough. I had also approached the hospitals and had chats with HR. 2. PGY2 as i had receny of practice of less than 2yrs as well. 3. I had tried out other specilaities before I settled on ED. It depends on what specility you want and the eligibilty criteria. e.g. Opthal/derm/surgery are tough and require couple of years to get in. ED at least 2 yrs. Some specilaities - depends on your PR status. 4. It is harder and hospitals prefer with AMC part 2 to offer a job but not impossible and candidates do secure jobs. Definitely completing part 2 will help you secure the job at the earliest. Hope this helps

Hey Dr. KP Balan, I was wondering if it would be okay for me to start preparing for the AMC while also doing my 2nd-year MBBS? I want to make sure I am adequately prepared for the exam because I want to take the exam right after I complete my MBBS, but I also don't want to overwhelm myself with too much work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Dr I believe 2nd year would be too early. The best time would be internship if you wanted to have ample time. Most of the questions in the AMC Exams are from your 3rd and 4th year subjects. Hope this helps Kind Regards KP Balan

What should I do to get a internal medicine residency training program after getting general registration and how much time it takes to get permanent residency (pr) after getting general registration?
@imgguideinaus
@imgguideinaus Жыл бұрын
Hi Dr Atwal, PR depends on the point system and when you get a job. If you are eligible, can take upto 12-18m. So it’s hard to say when you will be eligible. For BPT training you don’t need a PR. Just need to satisfy their criteria for eligibility. So that will depend on your registration, research and audits you have done and your experience. Once they accept your CV and application, you will have an interview process to enter the program. Hope this helps, KP Balan

Please why does the AMC 2 have slow pass rate? And is it only IMGs that are required to write the exams?🤔
@imgguideinaus
@imgguideinaus 8 ай бұрын
Hi Doctors Yes, it’s an exam exclusively for IMGs. It requires a lot of practice and it’s a subjective exam. It requires good communication skills and organisation of cases to complete the task in time. Also making sure you don’t miss life threatening conditions and common conditions in your differential diagnosis.

its true but also you need safe doctors on the floor. We get a variety of doctors from various backgrounds. There are multiple aspects to it including communication skills and knowing the Australian medical guidelines. Even though the pass rate is 30% we have more applicants and the number of people passing have also increased. @@okoroifeanyichukwu8762
