Violet Evergarden is the story of a gardener who only grows purple flowers. Actually that makes her a florist, doesn't it? I think you can be a florist while also being a gardener, it's like one of those titles that has more specific ones depending on your niche. I don't know, I'm not very botanically inclined. I'm a little stupid if you couldn't already tell.

I like how throughout the series they let the audience know what Gilbert meant by “I love you” by showcasing different types of familial (parental/caretaker) bonds in each episode

VE is an absolute masterpiece. I love this series so much. Seeing Violet grow over the course of the series was so incredible.

Without question my favourite anime. One of the only 3 shows in all of existence that I can say is more that just a great show. This anime is an indispensable *part of me.* I legitimately don’t know what my life would be like without it. This show & character mean the world to me. It’s great to see people still making videos in it in 2022

The soundtrack, animation, and character development in this anime are absolutely amazing and I love how each episode had its own story. I really enjoyed your take on the show and how deeply you analyzed it. Definitely one of my favorite anime.

@@Totaraum agreed. That’s something I will always love about this show. Heck Kyoto I’m general. The animation is always overdone but Evergarden just blows it out of the park.

Ah, one of the few pieces of media that I can safely say broke through my cold, stony heart. Episode 10 hit different. Real ones know. I shed manly tears.

@@Totaraum It's one of the things that sticks with you. I met one of my little nieces a year back (her mom died during childbirth, and her dad is an asshole), and I remember her clinging to everything her mother ever owned (Clothes, blankets, etc)... and it was actually one of the moments that inspired a great deal of change in me. When I saw that episode... I dreamt of the day I'd be the man I wanted to be. I see one scene from that episode, and it breaks me. Completely.

This show is so beautiful. And it was perfect for me, because I love stories about empathy and communication. Something that Kyoto Animation has done many times before as well. Most notably to me, A Silent Voice.

Took some work for me to get into it and sometimes missed the mark for me but when it hits, it hits hard and left me thinking. The credits song would hit so hard after some episodes. Def one of the best things I've seen but you have to be willing to have some feels and not be shut off to them to really enjoy it. Violet was so well written in her mannerisms and body language I totally felt like she was 100 percent real and not just a drawn and colored character. Superb show

I subscribed for "The clips I'm showing on screen are currently having sex with your eyes" and stayed for the excellent review. You haven't yet reviewed the movie yet, would love to hear your thoughts on it. I personally thought the reunion was Gilbert was totally unnecessary and kind of undermines Violet's arc through the main series, but I like how the movie still made Violet earn her happy ending and how the world goes on without them

I’d have to finish refrain first, but I do plan to cover little busters in some form in the future. There are 4 or 5 songs from this ost that I absolutely adore so I want to use them whenever possible

ok this one, this one. as much as I would love to just like put a random comment and then go about my day as usual. this show.. man I have very mixed feelings about this one, on one hand the cynical side of me is being like "this show is fucking mid and slow as hell" while on the other, I don't think I've felt anything like I had before I first watched violet evergarden. and I mean it does get you, if you're prone to crying while watching something then gg, but like i said once a time ago it really does overstay it's welcome, i wish it was 10 instead of 13 but whatever it does it's job and it does it well. good job kyotoani

That's super interesting, I can kind of see where you're coming from. For me the show peaked at episode 10 and then the whole train thing was just falling action to bring violet's arc to a close. They definitely could've condensed that into two episodes instead of three

finally got to watch this! saw this pop up on my phone at work and well i couldnt exactly watch it there due to not beeing able to focus on it. it was well worth the wait! As for Violet itself, i cant even stress how much its done to me. Now i havent experienced alot of loss, i had my grandfather die when i was quite young, and my uncle me, and our family as a whole, was close to. Now i wouldnt concider myself really stone cold or lacking emotions. But i also have a hard time really getting emotional, until i watched Violet. Violet struck a cord with me i cant even explain, ive rewatched it countless times, it hits me as much every time, and the opening scene of the whole show gives me shivers every single time. One thing i really like is how they dealth with PTSD and guild. Sure she came to terms with her actions and events somewhat quickly in ep 9. But it wasnt until ep 13 when meeting Gilberts mother that she fully came to terms with everything, getting to hear the mother say "its not your burden to bear" was something so emotional. (Examples to see she isnt fully over her guilt and PTSD is in ep 11 when she apologizes for not beeing able protect Aiden) As with this video, i cant wait for the upcoming "sequels". Sadly i cant for now support on patreon but ill hopefully be able to soon, you've definately deserved it!

I'm happy to hear it was worth the wait! And yeah, meeting gilbert's mother was a really nice moment. It reminds me of that scene in Good Will Hunting where Robin Williams' character tells Will that everything that happened to him wasn't his fault. Most of the time that's exactly what these kinds of characters need to hear. I'm also looking forward to tackling the other VE content. Also don't sweat it about patreon, it means so much that you even considered it!

@@Totaraum i cant obviously know if its fully true, but concidering you still have the movies and OVA to watch, how do you feel for the potential announcement of a new VE project beeing greenlit? i saw a picture of this, and well, it looked authentic, but hard to know without any actual evidence

@@TheMakushimirian that sounds a little bizarre. They wrapped up the story with the most recent movie so I assume if they do something else it’ll take place before that film. I think that’d be a wait and see kind of show because it’s going to need to justify its existence with something substantial

@@Totaraum my guess (and hope) is that if its true, itll be the events from a bit before she was found, focused around when she was in dietfrieds custody and following testing (killing of all those prisoners we saw flashbacks to) and maybe ending around the time of battle of Intense

The anime was extremely beautiful. It's a great shame it ended like that in the movie. It felt so rushed and inconclusive

@@Totaraum yeah, but it's the conclusion for an entire series that could have lasted so much longer. Even if the movie was slow paced, the ending as a whole felt rushed. Or I just wasn't expecting the whole story to end like that

@@fromant65 ah, I gotcha. Yeah, I wasn't expecting the series to end there either. I guess they could make more content out of violet living in that village with gilbert, but I don't think I'd want to see more from violet after the way it ended
