Dawn Sabean presented “My Journey to a UC Diagnosis (2018) and Beyond” at the SCDROCKS Conference 2023 hosted by the Specific Carbohydrate Diet Association.
Dawn is a busy wife, mom, and a full time middle school science teacher. Shortly after being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2018, Dawn decided that she wanted to heal her gut with diet and her research led her to The Specific Carbohydrate Diet. After beginning the SCD, Dawn experienced a reduction in her symptoms almost immediately and that gave her the energy she needed to take her health and fitness to the next level.
In July of 2022, Dawn competed in her first bodybuilding competition where she won three first place trophies and was awarded a professional bodybuilding certificate. She was able to build her body with the help of a coach/personal trainer who helped Dawn continue to follow the SCD while building muscle and losing fat at the same time. Her health and fitness journey has inspired her to help others and Dawn is now a certified personal trainer teaching fitness classes and training individuals one-on-one as well.
Dawn knows that nutrition is a key component to overall health and wellness and is currently working on becoming a nutritionist with an ultimate goal of helping others nourish and heal their bodies through a variety of foods.
