She just repeated exactly what my husband and I were saying today about what we have noticed in the Mennonite/AnaBaptist groups is the Strong since of community, service, and walking in consistancy. We can not find that in other denominations and feel led to go to a Mennonite church because we long for a family in Christ. People we can grow with and become family with.

I’m a traditional Roman Catholic, so obviously we disagree on certain things, but I would like to sincerely thank you for the respect you show to those with whom you disagree. It isn’t often that you find that. Also, I greatly admire your modesty and simplicity. I’m saddened by the lack of modesty in modern Catholic women and I pray that it will change someday soon. I’m not an anabaptist, but I’ve been learning about some of the founders of it, and man these guys are almost as hardcore as the early church fathers. Talk about living up to what you preach!

I was raised Lutheran but after I got married had our son, I was beginning to see things in the church being allowed that were not biblical. I joined a conservative Mennonite church after contact and encouragement from neighbors. What a blessing to have godly contact right next door! That was 15 years ago and my son and I have a wonderful Christian family and I am so thankful my son chose to become a member also.

Just been to Zwingli's birth house yesterday. As you know, he was in conflict with the Anabaptists in Zurich. However, my respect goes out to Anabaptists everywhere. I wish I would have your courage.

I also was raised Catholic and when I reached the age of 21, I joined the Mennonite church. I married and raised my children in the church. Quite the journey.... I could write a book.

I was born and raised Roman Catholic. I disagreed with several doctrines. I got the belt for asking questions. Forced into confession and I had to lie. I did not know that a person could join Mennonite faith. I was married at age 17 sadly it's been a very rough road. My mother was so pleased to get rid of the youngest finally done with her kids. Sad she didn't teach me basics of menstruation, sex, etc. I would have loved a simple life with wonderful family support. I envy you ladies. I grew up in skirts below the knee and never changed that.

Thank you so much for this video. I have grown so tired of the double standards Samantha touched on at 7:47, and have so respected the Mennonites for coming out from among them and being separate. Yes, we are the light, but do not have to condone what the world is pushing on us. In separating myself from the standards I will not compromise, I find myself very much alone. When she said that they are consistent outside of church, I got excited at the idea of connecting with Mennonites. Just at the very thought, I don't feel so alone in my journey anymore. Very happy to see ever-evolving outreach from Old-Order Mennonites. I think there's a balance but it can be quite precarious. In a sense the Mennonite and, much farther, the Amish faith are extensions of childhood. Not to be meant as an insult, many people in the world would benefit from the realization that they are in fact essentially children to an infinitely higher being. Yet you have children idolizing bigger children on T.V. or elsewhere from entertainment to politics. Traditional Mennonites and Amish do a great deal more to idolize God without the many distractions of the modern world by subjugating themselves to guidelines of elders. You're supposed to be raised to love God. That doesn't happen most of the time for most people. If it did you may not need the protection and the isolation of various communities. And if you're very gifted you may be able to be the one righteous family among the wicked. Without the community, one would suffer greatly on a Godly path. This is where they have it right. Other Christian communities struggle to keep a community together. I bible studied quite a bit with Mennonites but I regretfully find them extraordinarily judgmental from leadership positions. Doctrine-wise they are not perfect. I believe they're 'good enough' for people following God but they're not perfect and their radical positions put them at odds with other Christian sects. I fully believe their doctrine would become harsher if other Christian sects began encroaching on their's. At times they seem to come full circle from the old Jewish religious orders of Jesus' day to the point it's more about following rules than a matter of the heart. One person can handle a television set in their home and perhaps another can't. You don't need to outcast someone over such a matter but without such rules the distinctions become blurry between a follower of Christ and a heathen. At worst, it seems like they virtue signal Godliness at times. I regret very much that they essentially shun myself and others for not fully committing to Christ as they think it aught to be done. I don't see the scripture commanding this at all. If it was there would be contradictions with that in multiple places, which there wouldn't be. This is the problem when you look at the bible as a legal document and don't strive daily to set your own heart straight first. God is not going to give you a checklist that you can accomplish but if your heart is straight first you would be able to fill out almost all of it without ever seeing it.

I just ran across this channel the other day. I come from a smaller conservative denomination myself, although we don't do head coverings, etc. What I really like about the Anabaptists is their authenticity, humility, and kindness towards those with whom they disagree. I would absolutely love to have Anabaptist neighbors with whom we could have long conversations over lunch. We may not agree on everything, but if two friends agree on *everything,* then one of them is unnecessary. 🙂

My husband and I both are more than happy to relocate with our 4 children. I want to learn to sew my own dresses and for my daughter. I too want to start wearing a head covering. I've attended church most of my life as a Babtist. I want to grow in Christ and with a community of fellow believers who do too. I've spent 2 years trying to find the right Church for my family. Orginally from Indiana i know there are some Mennonite Congregations there. I don't know how to reach them. Please if anyone could help us to find a Mennonite Church, we would be forever grateful.

Last year I started a journey of trying to follow God and was convicted of my dress and head coverings, but where I live I couldn’t find a church the way God wanted me to worship. I’ve been in the Pentecostal worship since 1985, but I slowly walked away from that and stop going to church. When I rededicated my life last year and I started to change the way I dressed and did my head covering, I felt so blessed by God, but it came with a price, my family could not except me the way God was leading me and I had no one to lean on because I can not find a church with same convictions so I stopped everything. My heart keeps telling what I need to do but I need a church such as the Anabaptist to lead and guild me. Do you know of any such church in WV?

My girlfriend is catholic and I've been to her church many times and even gone to their Rcia classes but always felt like they didnt truly understand what they were learning or in some cases were contradicting things in the bible

I become tearful when I think about how long I have searched. Now, it is clear to me that I have slowly become Anabaptist in as much as I understand what that is? I've been Baptized several times, once in the River Jordan in Israel. I can't attend a Mennonite church because my life is a wreck. I notice that there is a video that says "Street Gang to Pastor". My sin was perhaps deeper than that, and would be too much for you, I'm sure. I am intersex and lived 50 years of my life as a male, though there was much trouble and many thought I was gay. Since 2004, I have lived as a woman, and most don't know unless I tell them. I wish I could go back and start over. I can be Mennonite in my heart, but that is all.

I am also Roman Catholic. I live amongst and hang out with Menonites up in Northern California. As long as you keep Christ at the center of faith all of us cristians need to stick together. ⛪️

Apon growing with Jesus, I see now why I have never truly agreed fully with the other churches I have been to. Both me and my husband see how some denominations are right but how others are wrong. Interesting video. I wish I would have watched it when it first was published. I just want to comment that the young woman interviewed was never Catholic, as she was never baptized into the Catholic Faith. Just because her parents may have been as infants, she was never baptized in the Faith; therefore she was never Catholic.

I was not raised Mennonit .I left the church world 4 years ago. I always felt the way of the teachings and so much more did not line up with the word of God . But I do stay in my own studies with the Bible and teachings online with God's guiedence. I am interested in seeking this religion because from what I see it seems to line up with my beliefs.I love the discipline it practices and would be willing to heed to that . I'm intrigued by mennonites. I have recently left Mormonism and am attending a non denominational Christian church. Here in Utah we have a group of polygamist that dress similar to mennonites. I don't come from the polygamist group but I do come from the mainstream lds church that once practiced polygamy. If I'm not mistaken mennonites don't practice polygamy. Is that correct? I have often wanted to stop and talk with people of your faith but have never had the courage. For the most part are you all alright if someone approaches and wants to talk? Respectfully of course. Having left Mormonism I have been very interested in other Faith's.

When you study the bible try reading slowly, asking yourself, who's talking and to whom? You might be surprised about Jesus and what he told his disciples where to go or not to go and who to go to. It was all Israel. So you might miss some important information.

I think conservative mennonites are quite different from the rest of the mennonites. Personally I love the conservative.

I am sad that the closest conservative mennonite church is an hour away.

What is the difference between Mennonite and Church of Christ (non denominational) Christianity? Have you read Traces of the Kingdom? It sounds like Mennonites have biblical beliefs but Paul reminds church members not to follow a man or a name except Christ's. The only churches in the Bible were church of Christ or church of God. I think lack of education isn't a fault of my church but perhaps your parents lack of attendance is why you didn't know the rubrics of catholicism. We do practice modesty in the Latin Rite. Very nice presentation of your experiences.

men never wore pants in early church times. they all wore robes so the idea that girls shouldn't wear pants doesn't compute. my mother and grandparents were german mennonites. no such rules existed for women.

Why is the video called my Journey to the Mennonites and not my Journey with Jesus. God doesnt care about church Denominations at judgement. Different Denominations are actually bad in the sense that we break of with Christians if we all are allegedly saved why do we not all come to together to praise Jesus.

But just because they never taught you the truth doesn’t mean the Truth is not there. And a big problem is going by your feelings when it comes to truth. You just stated yourself not to go by emotionalism. I pray you continue to seek the truth. Perhaps sit in front of Adoration. God is not the author of confusion, and this why the Bible was created. God's truth was never abrogated nor lost. If we all strive to gain understanding from the Scriptures simply through reading it ourselves, not through the private interpretations of people who take God's words out of context and put them into their own context.... then we are on the right track. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. - 1 Peter 1:24-25, KJV God does not abrogate His teachings and His words, but Islam and Roman Catholicism does. Joseph Smith (founder of Mormonism), Charles Taze Russell (founder of the Jehovah's Witnesses), and Muhammad (founder of Islam) -- all claimed to have rediscovered the lost truth (which was never lost to begin with). Even when the Roman Catholic institution was created, there were Bible believing people who did not bow to the pagan religion of Rome that had a veneer of Christianity. The counterfeits have no saving power.... and the popes and the bishops of Rome cannot give you God's Holy Spirit. There is no mediator to Jesus but Jesus Himself. Sacraments cannot save, but only trusting in the sufficient sacrifice which was made once and for all through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on our behalf is sufficient for salvation. What was impossible to obtain through our own works, was made possible only through Jesus Christ. Salvation is easy to obtain, but it is by no means cheap, because Jesus paid the highest price for our redemption, with His own priceless blood. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. Only God is good and without sin, and Jesus is He. Jesus said if you have seen Him, then you have seen the Father. I and my Father are One. Trust in God alone and worship Him alone. Those who trust in their own hearts are fools, says the Bible - and cursed are those who trust in mankind. But if you place your trust in Jesus, He will not fail you, and He will keep all the words that He has spoken, and everything that is written in the Bible which reflects His will and His testament. Salvation is a free gift for any person who calls upon the name of Jesus in truth and in sincerity with a humble heart. God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Romans 8:9 says that if we don't have His Spirit then we don't belong to Him. Jesus said, "marvel not that I say to you, that ye must be born again." God alone is the Source of Goodness, Truth, Love, and Life. The Bible says that we are born naturally at enmity against God, and we cannot please Him. But what Jesus does is always pleasing, and His perfect works are credited to our own account, if we will receive Him. Once we receive Him, we receive the Spirit which won us our victory, and has overcome the world. Our sins were as red as scarlet, but He has made them as white as snow.... blotting out our transgressions, removing them as far as the east is from the west, and remembering our sins no more. Blessed are those whose sins are covered by the blood of Jesus, and blessed are those who trust in their Creator above all, and cling to Him and His words, as His words give life to our souls. God is His Truth that He has revealed to us. We must accept God as He is, and trust the words of His mouth, and not be like Adam and Eve who trusted in the words of another entity over the Lord. The Bible is the highest and final authority over the followers of Jesus, and we can only call ourselves followers if we are followers of His teachings.

i’ve gone from a baptist missionary kid to roman catholic. and have been blessed by the catholic church and mass and rituals greatly. i’m sorry this lady didn’t get a proper catholic understanding or education, but you WERE christian as a catholic if you believed in christ as a catholic. so you didn’t become a christian, you became a protestant. there’s a difference. i have a seminary degree from a baptist seminary but was disgusted by how aberrant the baptist’s are from the foundations of the church. i’m really sorry you had to go to such an extreme group to find a home and i feel your catholic parish failed you or maybe your parents did. you didn’t have to cover your head and wear skirts to be a christian...... that’s really sad to me.
