iammyantinerd I use RO for 3 years mixing it a 5:1 ratio with tap water in gallons to lower my PH. My RO I buy is in the 7.2 range while my tap is 8.8 mixing my water lowers it to a 7.6 and driftwood does the rest to get it down to 7.0 in my Amazonian tank.

Thanks for a, yet again, superb video! Just bought your book, and made a overhead sump from a planter box, for my sons 250 l tank. I modified it though and added a trickle tower to it. A lot of good ideas in that book! My creation works as a charm but I need to work at the looks... Now I need to build something else for my 540 l. I recently came back to the hobby after a 20 year pause, and your channel has really boosted my love for it. Thank you! Greetings from Sweden, P.

Great vids and keep up the good work. They are highly informative & inspiring. Just a quick question on the return from the sump to the aquarium. I see that you took a lot of safety steps with regards to the aquarium overflow. What if the sump return pump fails? I don't think the sump overflow pipe would be able to handle the extra volume.

I know this comment comes late, but when you mentioned running power to the other side of the room to run on your lights for the space and the aquarium I thought I'd make a suggestion for your future projects. Since you seem to be a lot like me in that you change things in your environment often, I would suggest you check on some smart home devices like those made by Insteon. These devices are easy to install and allow you to turn on your lights and devices without having to install traveler wires. You're using digital signaling on your AC line to control micro devices installed behind your existing switches and fixtures.

I am curious to see a video about how you made the top glass piece and individuals lids for this tank. Do you already have a video that covers this? If so, please link it. Great videos and you've certainly convinced me to build my own show tank to save TONS of money. I'm looking into the direct injection method of applying silicone for an all glass tank at the moment. Have you experimented with this method of applying to silicone to your glass tanks? A video on that would also be great for the community. Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing all of your experiences and knowledge.

Does the drip system cause just the fresh water to be the main water draining out the overflow, or does the circulating pumps take care of that ? Also, what would be the smallest tank that could effectively use these types of circulating pumps ?

Can you make a video explaining the process of curing and readying a piece of driftwood collected from somewhere in a video? I'm looking to collect a piece of driftwood, but have little clue where to start (what type of wood makes good driftwood and which to avoid, what to look for in potential driftwood [already assuming it's good for use in an aquarium, what things would make it useless for use in an aquarium - e.g., bugs, debris], how to cure and ready it for an aquarium, etc). Thanks!

To be fair I wondered about the door too... I think what puts people off, is doors are normally mounted on a typical door jamb, and a door always opens in the direction opposite the jamb. so if it was a normal store bought door frame, not seeing it would imply the door opens into the room, and if it opens out you would expect to see the door recessed into the wall, and the walls of the jamb would be visible. Amazing videos, I look forward to catching up on them.

Have you considered a swirl filter for the solids before the sponge? It could be as simple as just turning a valve for a few seconds to clean the most solids. You could even make the overflow for the drip system grab the solids from the bottom to automatically empty it for you. Disclaimer: I have only followed you for a few months.

You can remove one of the heaters if you want to. I have never used more than a fifth of wattage for every tank that I ever had and I never had a problem with heating, even during the coldest time of the year. And my tank doesn't even have a lid on it. My tank is 300 liters and my heater is 65 watts. Works perfectly.
