Your reactions to having these well sought after ARCs and having no idea what to do with them is funny to me because it reminds me of those like Antiques or Auction TV shows where people get their random stuff they found in an attic priced by experts and stuff and the persons always like "Yeah I just found it in my basement while moving I was gonna just sell it for like 5 bucks" and the expert is ALWAYS like "Uhm yeah this is a super rare antique worth thousands"

Just a thought: possibly in future you could have a specific bag or box for unhaul, and when it gets full include the unhaul in your monthly haul video with the twitter sale type thing (or donate or whatever obviously), so that you have a smaller pile to deal with at a time. Like I said, just a thought. :)

Your un-haul videos always inspire me. I watch them specifically for that extra nudge to keep pruning my own shelves 😜I like your approach as far as keeping only what you really loved... that philosophy cultivates a very emotionally satisfying shelf

I've been unhauling books recently and wow, does it feel good! I was proper ruthless and probably unhauled a good 40 books. Lots of "book tube darlings" including, Cinder series, Throne of Glass, Court of Thorn and Roses - felt so good!

I also just went through all of my books and did my first major unhaul! Got rid of around 70 books, the majority of which were YA contemporary and YA paranormal that I'll never reread. Feels amazing to finally have them gone!

I am always here for an unhaul video! I always donate my unhauls to one of the nearby libraries because they do monthly book sales. No sales last year because of COVID. Not sure if there will be any this year either. So we'll see if I unhaul anything this year!

I always add a few more books to my unhaul pile whenever I watch your unhauls. I do need to get rid of more books because I'm also moving soon, but a lot of my books are in storage and I'm more ruthless when I have them in front of me

Congratulations on your soon to be move and unhauling all those books. I think the last time you did an unhauling I was able to unhaul a couple of books that no longer served me. Truly appreciated it and I have learned also to DNF books that just aren't for me and I shouldn't feel guilty about it. Happy moving! 😊❤️❤️❤️❤️

I'm currently doing a big unhaul as well. It feels good to see other people doing it too. It actually pains me to give so many books away, but like you, I'm trying to have on my shelves only what reflects me as a reader. Oh man, I have a beautiful arc of Ninth House, UK edition. The one you have is also very beautiful! I think Arcs are very valuable for most people because they are very hard to get. Especially for small Booktubers like me... If I ever got the chance to have many arcs, they would probably seem less of a precious thing to have. But who knows.. For now, I still value them A LOT.

I unhaul quite frequently because of lack of space. Always books I've given 3 stars or less and know for sure I'm not planning on giving them a second chance

I find hard cover books way more annoying to read than massmarkets, my preference goes e-book (unless the book has foot or end notes, is illustrated, or is a collection of poems/short stories/essays etc), mass market, trade paperback, then hardcovers.

The only one of yours where I was like 'huh', was The Time Traveller's Wife, but I think that's only because I utterly love that book and my copy has broken into three pieces through re-reading. I moved last summer and there was something incredibly therapeutic about unhauling a book I hated, I only kept it because I paid full price, but even seeing it on my shelf annoyed me, so the act of unhauling it was almost like a visceral relief.

I love your channel. I love books but I feel like even if I didn't I just love your energy and feel like we align in a way that means I enjoy your content beyond the books. Does that makes sense? Haha. Have you considered donating to schools? (The YA) my sons school asked for donations thats why I thought of it. It may not be doable during covid and you might not have the time for - time is precious - but it was just a thought

I either sell them on twitter or used bookstores, or just donate to charity shops or sometimes libraries accept them

Your unhaul videos always leave me feeling inspired to go through my shelves with a more critical eye. I'm curious, how are you handling your HP books? Mine are currently relegated to a lone corner of my shelves because they hold such sentimental value but, at the same time, looking at them puts a bad taste in my mouth. :/

I'm keeping mine because I already have them and I value the editions I have more for the cover artist and the story than the author. But I totally understand wanting them to be out of sight.

@@ThoughtsOnTomes That makes sense, I like that approach. Some of my editions were purchased while traveling so they have that value/special memory attached to them and it’s hard to let them go. And I definitely feel better that I’m not putting money in her hands now.

I demoted mine to a lower shelf because I already have two full copies of the series. I have a lot of memories tied to them so i think i will hold on to mine but definitely not putting more money there. You could get custom jackets so you dont have to see the authors name possibly?

"But this coffee table book of horses is soooo pretty"....... I don't have a coffee table and riding horses scares me. hahaha I gots book hoarding issues

Can't say that I'm shocked. Is about how I go throw my books as well. About to do a big move as well, and have been making a point to cull the herd of books I've acquired. Have always done away with books that were "eh" or "just alright" after reading them. Generally only keep books that would be 4 or 5 star for me as I'm more likely to reread them. Do wish I was able to get through Kingdom of Back. Love music and this sounded up my ally. Sadly it turned out to be a real negative trigger, so I had to DNF it.

Sam! I have a question. Is your edition of Skyward the paperback one? It looks like the paperback but I'm not totally sure. The hardback of that has been out of stock and I've been trying to get my hands on a hardcover but they're so expensive on third party sites. I didn't want to get the paperback bc I didn't think it'd look as nice but seeing yours it actually looks really good so I might just bite the bullet and order the paperback edition.

The Bronze Horseman bit made me ugly laugh. Oof. You know, I'm pretty good at unhauling (I have a HUGE to-donate pile when lockdown is done) but you still convinced me to get rid of some stuff. I preordered all three books in the Kingdom of Grit trilogy by Tyler Whitesides and read them as soon as they came out. But I won't reread them---and if I do it'll be the first one, which I have an ebook copy of.

Oh I "unhauled" a large stack recently myself! Including books 1&2 of Their Bright Ascendancy which I bought bc of your love & got rid of bc of your disappointment. Passed it along with Shades of Magic to a friend. A lot of YA fantasy from like 2016 & earlier that I kept holding onto bc I wanted to understand the hype but I'm sure I've missed the point of my life that I'd enjoy them. Cursed Child & R*wling's mystery bc the first wasn't great & while I liked the mystery I don't wanna support her. Most of my YA romance as well for basically the same reason lol. Bunch of Rainbow Rowell again bc I don't wanna support her. I did keep my copies of Fangirl though. I'm holding onto my copy of Anna but I suspect the next round of unhauling I'll be saying bye.

@@ThoughtsOnTomes AH I dont wanna be the one to be like omg yes read it and then you hate it BUT I personally really enjoyed it, the first two books follow lara and aren (after that it follows other characters so their story weaps up in the second book). Its got a solid political conflict ans world, I really enjoyed the settings: first book is in a jungle, second in a desert and its funny with solid characters who just stay consistent with their personalities (the couple also bickers and banters constantly which is a plus). But I do think the second book is the best of the two, it makes the first book even better if that makes sense

I every time like my ebooks and audiobooks more because I can have thousands without taking up space in my shelves. And they are also better for the environment because no paper is used.
