Omg the description, the feelz. At least I'm not the only one. I used to play him alot before his W rework. Took phase rush and swiftie boots. Don't know what riot was thinking with these reworks. He was perfect when they launched him. Such a unique kit. Such a fun playstyle. I'll also have to play him before he's gone forever. A moment of silence for all the Asol mains out there.😢

Why did you have to write such a sad description man, I liked playing asol a lot too, but I also knew he was too niche and difficult to play so I choose to main TF instead. I loved the roam potential aurelion had and TF was the closest champion to his playstyle for me, but I would lie if I told you that I didn't enjoy my fair amount of Asol from time to time. Hopefully this rework makes him justice and makes more people play him.

Aurelion Sol is probably the most affected champ by the mobility meta over the last couple years. They honestly killed him in a way that almost seems intentional.

In the LS interview they mentioned (the dev) that they wanted him to be more of a battle mage than burst. Not sure if it's the same thing but it's essentially the idea of why the W is like that. Along with other abilities.

I started playing LoL at the start of covid, and got ASol in one of my first ever ARAMs. It went horribly, but I loved his kit so much I bought him immediately and started looking up videos to get better and that's actually how I found your channel. Been an ASol main and a daily Pekin enjoyer ever since. RIP Aurelion Sol.

6:53 : I'm a game designer who has studied LoL since early beta. It actually makes him easier to balance by basing things off of Champion level. It gives more levers to tune and to better scale values to fit the intended goal. The reason why ASol was tough to balance is so much of his kit is based around his rotating stars and it is fairly binary against some Champions, especially those with gap closers. ASol also has very unique gameplay with very high mastery cap. It is like how Singed is difficult to balance and is very binary because he can completely counter certain things and requires a different playstyle. Overall the problem with ASol, and why they changed him, was that he regularly scores as one of the most interesting thematically, aesthetically, and narratively, but one of the lowest in gameplay because of his high complexity. When they removed his W toggle they hoped he would be more popular as he became more akin to other burst mages gated around cooldowns, but with some unique flavor and his E roams. But that didn't happen so they wanted to completely rework him. His new kit seems fun but removing the rotating stars and zoning/sustain gameplay around them makes him seem more like other mages even moreso than before. We'll see how it lands, but I'm hesitantly optimistic. P.S. An old hero in DotA-Allstars (old Shadowfiend) actually had rotating orbs that could extend like ASol. When I talked to RabidLlama, ASol's original designer, he said he actually wasn't inspired by that though. The more you know!

I think it would be cool if they kept the meteors and the ability that makes them faster, and just add the flamethrowing q and the new R. You could collect stardust whenever your meteors hit opponents. That seems very thematically pleasing to me.

I main Asol because of watching Pekin. The upcoming rework, while visually pleasing, look very basic point-and-click. I'm worried that they took the unique play expression out of my star dragon and turned him into an ordinary control mage. :(

Aurelion Sol was my first main, before Zoe. Both of them had such unique playstyles I fell in love! But then they changed Asol's W and removed RoA and I stopped playing him entirely. I hope his new kit will play better than his "reworked" state, it still looks unique and fun, but not as unique as the battlemage playstyle he had before... RIP Aurelion Sol!

I played asol only a dozen times or so and i thought he was ok. unique for sure. I see this new rework and its way more interesting to me. You lose the orbs which sucks i think they couldve kept that as a passive but his lazer beam gravity well and mapwide r just seem cooler. Also stacking champs are dope. I found the stacks a good balance on champs like syndra to invest in a playstyle as well as knowing how to fight against it.

I do hope they bring the spheres back on another champ. But actually have the kit focused around it. Makes no sense to give Aurelion spheres as his visual Identity but then make him a roamer with his QE and somewhat R. They kept the roam and sacrificed the spheres, so maybe one day we'll see the spheres on a new champ, maybe a hive swarm queen bee, where the Q E and R are more synergistic with spheres

Pretty devastated from the upcoming ASol changes. I'm not ready to see him go and will never be, it's so depressing. Been following him from the start and I wouldn't trade his unique playstyle for anything, but it was just too unique for Riot Games. I'll probably still enjoy the new ASol because control mage, but man will I miss this one. There'll just be nothing like it anymore

pekin we need you to play supp zoe with relentless hunter+waterwalking+celerity, rush boots, get 420 move speed (without mejais) and just perma roam buildpath: spellthief > sorcs (could go ionian if you have 1000~ gold first back) > shadowflame > ludens > situation (void or morellos usually, you dont get enough for dcap)

Hey everybody! Strangely enough your old ASol video popped up yesterday and I watched it and commented on it. Did you see that? Anyway, great stuff and I miss ASol's toggle W too. Wish they kept that in the new rework and removed the flying. But instead they are having flying and no rotating stars. Oh well. The super unique gameplay is officially dead. EDIT: The description for this video is epic and I have the same feelings. =( RIP unique space dragon. You will be missed.

I’ll give new asol a try but having a 1,000,000+ mastery on a champion and then they get aatrox’d really puts a damper on my will to play. Bad call rito, just an ult rework would’ve sufficed.

*Every Asol player* change the W back and we'll play him again! *Riot* so we've decided to completely overhaul the character

there are few mages can do what live asol does at the moment, a true god does not need to wait till 40mins 6 items to 1v9 the game but a clean 6/0 early dominant snowball can also feel like a god asol is weaker and weaker each every patch and season as his difficult champs increases as well. while riot punish for early snowballing, making players from the losing side come back a lot eariser than before...plus solo que throw envrionments... I will miss my thousands of games and hours on him...

riot is just messing up the unique champion we have. if they really want to just make a new champ, without ruining the most beautiful champ in the game . wtf
