Puerto Ricans also will skip over letters, especially the letter s whenever it's in not at the beginning of a word. Puerto Ricans will also mix in English and Spanish, they mostly speak a Spanglish variation. Mexicans, we do drag out words, Fluffy is right!

I'm half Cuban half South African. Talk about a wild mix. lol tell me your dad was military without telling me he was military. The coffee and the way they talk is so true. My dads dad would freak me out, sounded pissed even when he was happy, or being nice. Coolest dude ever. I miss my grandpa so much. Gabriels Cuban voice sounded just like him. The Cuban Coffee thing is real. My father had a Bday party a few weeks ago(march) and his coworker came. His coworker is Cuban and with a Italian dish, he was drinking Coffee, black. I remember Fluffy's bit and was just thinking it and asked later if he was, sure nuff he was Cuban.

I totally freaked out my daughter's Spanish teacher a few years ago like this. My daughter told her that I spoke some Spanish but not a lot. When I met her, she asked me where I learned to speak Spanish and I told her, Panama, Spain, southern California and south Florida. She asked me what I thought the difference was and I told her the accents and flow. She told me there really wasn't a difference and I told her that her Central and South American Spanish will get her treated like the cousin nobody admits to in Spain. Spaniards, at the time, really looked down on Latinos back then. To say the next 6 months was fun is an understatement. Kid would come home speaking what the teacher taught and I would correct her. Teacher was NOT happy about that. Kidlet finished up with a C and I was asked not to come back to the class ever again.

It's important to understand the affect/impact using a different dialect in a place it isn't from will have. While using Latin American Spanish is Spain may get you looked at as a country rube or "the cousin no one talks about" by racist Castillian locals, using Spaniard Spanish in the Americas is not only impractical, it has entirely DIFFERENT connotations, that will ALSO get you in trouble. Latin American Spanish is the more useful Spanish for anyone in the USA or the Americas and Australia/New Zealand. The fact that you would want your child to make a fool of themselves with the local latinos asking for juice and calling it "thumo" instead of "jugo" just to be pedantically correct is mind-boggling. I married a Cuban American man who has cousins that are Miami locals, but since their mother is a Spanish import and forces her kids to speak Spaniard instead of Spanish. Those cousins have been ostracized by the local latino community. It marks you as an outsider, and possibly a fake or (if you're REALLY good at it) a pretentious prick. Like using/affecting a British upperclass accent in America, lol. Hope this clarifies things!

I am impressed. You actually know the difference. And to call it "Castilian" shows how much you do know the difference. As to 'racist' Spaniards, they have been like this since the days of exploration. They referred to the Latinos as "The Conquered". While traveling thru Spain, if asked, "English?" answer, "No, American." Spaniards still don't really care all that much for the British. If I have to explain the reasons why, maybe I give you too much credit. But by all means, keep trying.

The Spanish and ENGLISH have a history of rivalry and war. Ever heard of the "Spanish Armada". British "Privateers" raiding Spanish shipping, we would later call it PIRACY. Same reason there are still some French and British rivalries still today. Also, the English basically pushed the Spanish out of Eastern Norte America during the 1500's. Study history. you will be amazed at what you can learn.

2:02 it's actually pretty on spot. 🤣 I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina (but left at age 4.) we tend to speak FAST with a weird accent that's part italian-type accent with a smoother Spanish typical accent. Other areas of Argentina have very different accents. 6:00 he's nailing it! I can tell the different rhythms, the specific dialect differences are well done. And the coffee thing is so true! In Argentina we have the same thing going.XD

How to make Cuban coffee at home: Add an 8oz jar of instant Folgers to an empty 1 gallon milk container. Add water to top. Shake well. It creates a 7x concentration. My friend made this once without realizing it and served me 16oz. I made it halfway before I knew something was off, did the calculations and realized I had consumed more that 600mg of caffeine. Dumb bunny dumped the rest... that was the best coffee I ever had. XD

That is the same way they serve coffee in Italy too. I made the mistake of getting a few of those coffees all at once the first time I was in Italy. Wont do that again. I was bouncing off the walls that night like a 5 year old that just got into the Halloween stash without their parents knowing about it. Black Cubans are apparently more common here in Mexico. For many years the only black people (like dark black) was a cuban baseball coach. Also, nearly all Black characters in pop culture here were Cubans.

That's the truth about Cuban coffee. Had it once and went from half asleep to hearing colors in about a seconds. Tried to add milk and sugar to cut it down. NO effect or change in color. Pretty sure it ate part of the spoon.

i did the same thing at a Mexican place when I told them it wasn't spicy enough. they brought me fresh jalapenos and watched me eat them but Im used to ghost peppers so I really shocked them XD
