Im not sure about pre aged guitars or the price point of real aged guitars sold looking like they came out of a hoarders garage behind a rusty metal shed filled with animal carcases. I love the fact you wipe yours down and keep it looking as fresh as the day it left the factory albeit it light wear it is getting on the neck. The mods look natural and factory. Specifically the tuners. You my friend, know how to treat a fine instrument. 🤙🤘

Yes Larry! Your guitar and action should be exactly the way you want it. Anyone who says "it should be like this or do it this way" is usually just wanting your approval. Super fantastic video. I fully understand such an issue with the guitar and it's great that you have a girlfriend who understands and supports you and that you have common passions. I've had a very long break from music. A long time ago (I was born in Poland.. in the cult capital of Polish blues) In the old Polish times (PRL behind the Iron Curtain) of my art education, I had 4 guitars, which I later sold because no one understood me and my passions were not tolerated.. lack of understanding. I blocked myself and even then, living across the ocean in NY, I couldn't buy a guitar (mental block...) After many years, music came back to me and is in the first place an important element connecting my other passions, film, photography, acting and travel. I recently bet and bought an LP from the 70s at an auction. I was lucky. Take care both of you, best regards.

It is a 59 rounded profile. In the 90s there was no option for 50s or 60s on the standards. The classics had the slim taper neck, the standards had this rounded profile, which is unfortunately not available anymore on us production guitars. I have a 97 standard in honeyburst (the same guitar actually), and I love it. I recently played a 60s and 50s standard and this rounded 59 is between these 2. Very comfortable.

The plain top is my favorite. All of this flame is out of control. Don't get me started - too late. My old flame top burst is so faded you cant really see it. You are so right about dark guitars. All the youngsters think treble is a bad thing. You have to cut through the mix. The first thing I do when I plug into a Marshall is turn the base all the way down. Rory Gallagher used a Strat, a Vox, and a treble boost. Page said he say Rory live and went out and bought treble boost the next day. I have a set of early 60s Gibson PAF's and some other nice ones, but my favorite are cheap MIK PAFs, also Maxom super 70s. They are amazing. You just never know with pickups. The standard Gibson 490t and the otherone are the worst pickups I have ever owned. Thats my rant. I feel beter now. Good day.

I played a second-hand '98 Heritage H150 for 21 years now, great LP style guitar, made in the original Gibson factory in Kalamazoo. Just recently got a Gibson Custom shop 60 anniversary ,1960 V2 "tomato soup burst". At only 8.1 lbs, my shoulder loves it, a lot. It is so authentic the reflectors fall out of the knobs just like the real ones did!

I was on holiday last weekend in Scotland and watched this and a couple of your other videos with my fiancee who is recovering from pneumonia. We both loved it and Kate could barely catch her breath through laughing... in-between coughs. Being a s4d b'st4rd I actually took a screenshot of the serial number of your guitar a couple of weeks back, so I knew yours was a 1998. I have a 1996 and have gone through similar upgrades to take mine back to more of a Custom-Shop spec. IMO, there's a load of hype around the 'good-wood era', but in my limited experience my 96 is now sonically as good or better than anything coming out of the Custom-Shop... although it's also edging up towards 10lbs. Love your channel.

Little known fact - 1998 (and 2021 - the year my LP was made) were the only two years Gibson used titanium zircon nubbed saw blades in the factory to cut the body and necks of the Les Paul. Titanium Zircon nubbed blades are known as "tone blades" for a reason - they've been used to cut the wood of some of the most famous instruments in time - dating back to the late 1200's when they were used for Harpsichords used by the famous Roman musician Tiberius Satriani. So well done my good sir, well done. And of course it's always a special day when the lovely Gab makes a cameo appearance in a Sped video.

Wow! One of, if not THE, best video I've ever watched on KZfaq. I've always loved this guy's humour and this was to perfection. I like movies like American Psycho and Nightcrawler but this was better. Brits are good at this kind of humour, I guess it is an British invention, to be over the top serious about something. And it works best when it's so close to how the artist really feels. Perfect. Just perfect. 👏

@@SpedSpedding Probably 13-15. I've owned two. I have a LP clone with SD 59's in it. A Stanford CR Marquis, I think it is. Perfect out of the box, but proper pups lift it to a higher level. It is quite light, which is good for my old back. It's probably half the weight of your LP! I also have a Stanford CR 35AV, a semi-acoustic a la ES 335. Again, I put SD 59's in it. The Stanfords are a subsidiary of Maybach, who do clones. Excellent guitars. My Strat has Hot Noiseless Fenders. My Gretsch 12 string is stock, as is my old Ibanez ST-50. One of my LPs...the action was too high. Lowered it, got the inevitable buzzes. Got it set up by a proper luthier. No change. Asked him to do a re-fret. No help. I sold it at about a 50% loss. :(

Still, bet I could pay a lot of rent for the original. If I still paid rent. The 80's wee tough. Hey, I was recommending you on a Shut Up and Play live stream the other night. Only mods - 50s wiring of course, vintage-taper neck volume pot, Seth Lover PAFs, Tusq nut and medium-medium frets (about 1/4 less wide than yours). I put the same wire on my Strat- my fingers aren't very long....I seem to trip on jumbos. Make the guitar your own, and it will give you magic!
