We gain rare access inside the Jenin Battalion, a new Palestinian armed group that’s formed to fight back against Israeli military raids in the occupied West Bank.
Fighter Abu Aseel, not his real name, takes us through Jenin and shows us how the brigade is training and preparing to defend the city for the next time the Israeli army enters.
Like many young men in the impoverished refugee camp, Abu Aseel feels he was compelled to take up arms, driven by witnessing decades of violence and oppression against his community.
Israel’s new far-right government has accompanied a surge in violence with near-daily military raids across the occupied West Bank.
2023 is on track to becoming the deadliest year in decades for Palestinians.

how do so many miss the obvious point of all this? The mother said it clearly. These guys have chosen their own paths born of hatred and anger which was brainwashed into them since their initial indoctrinations as children. Hamas / Islamic Jihad is 'an' issue but 'the' issue is actually the ideals these people hold true to themselves. Thie senseless death will continue until they are willing to live peacefully and integrate into Israel as have their brothers/sisters of current Palestinian Israeli peoples (i.e. not the West Bank / Gazan Palestinians)

Every freedom fighter in history was labeled a terrorist at one point. Mandela was on the US terror watchlist until 2008, with Obama running for 1st office… A man labeled a hero by the world was still called a terrorist. When you are living under constant oppression, you have no choice but to fight for freedom. Those who ask, “Do you condemn so and so?” let them respond first and condemn themselves and their allies for placing people under oppressive forces. I did not mention any of the crimes committed by Israel recently, such as the use of white phosphorus on civilians after bombing their homes under the pretext that Hamas was hiding underneath them. They not only bombed their homes, but also bombed hospitals and schools and ordered them to be evacuated until all the patients inside died. Even journalists and doctors are not spared from their attacks, as they try to kill everything that exposes them. I also did not talk about the Palestinian athletes who are being killed one after the other, or at least being sniped in sensitive places like the hands and feet, so that they cannot walk again, so that everything that is Palestinian is erased from history. I also did not mention the torture that Palestinian prisoners were subjected to, including being denied water and food, physical torture, and being monitored 24 hours a day by cameras in their cells.@@fwelsa

I'm a westerner - I used to despise these guys. I've since learnt the full history since 1900 and now I feel I understand them much better. What choice do they have but to resist - in fact, their right to resist the occupation is enshrined in UN law. The IDF is no better. Whitewashing hamas or the IDF is not going to bring an end to this conflict. What hamas did to innocent civilians is not in any way resistance. Two wrongs don't make a right. It's not hard to understand why people fight back and resist. He said it here, the whole video has shown us the reasoning of these men. They basically just people like us, wants peace, wants to get married have family. But if you born in situations which you saw people around you, your family, the weak get oppressed. You will grow up like him, rather die fighting back than seeing it happening over and over and over again. I always told people, this conflict isn't a complex one. If you go re-visit past and see the moment one of their parent were killed cold, even opposite side got same issue, The problem is when everything is going okay someone bring the attack from past wounds. Palestine was never a state until the UN partition plan. Understandably, the plan was met with alot of resistance because it gave most of the land to the jews but Isreal gave many compromises that heavily favored Palestine that were shut down because they were greedy and wanted all of the land. The only time that it was Isreal that was rejecting a compromise was at the Oslo accords because they wanted East Jerusalem which Isreal had controlled for 40 years by that point. Most of this stuff is on wikipedia so perceive that source as you will. It wasn't and isn't their land by any means.

This is the difference between Palestinian fighters and IDF. For Palestinians, a dead soldier isn't just another casualty. They proudly celebrate their martyrdom, every single day, long after they're gone. No matter how many die it doesn't deter them. They're not afraid to share their pain and loss. They gain strength from the dead who fought for life itself. IDF on the other hand, cowards as they are, hide their losses behind their hubris and false claims of victories. They know well that they have nothing to fight for, no moral base instilled in their soldiers, so the very thought of dying would shatter their fragile morale. For them, a single dead IDF soldier is a threat to their massive ego. A weakness to their cult of death.

@@thatguy3000 Indian involvement was mostly passive. Active intervention didn't happen until December. India would've helped Bangladesh anyways. It's a move based on pure geopolitical interests. The division of a Muslim Republic worked in their favor. Palestine has Iran's full passive support (they have a mutual beef with Israel), Yemen is actively aiding them (still unclear why). Some of Israel's allies are starting to seriously question their partnership, they're all losing public support, Israel itself is collapsing internally. It's just the first month, nothing's certain, but as long as Palestine lives, Israel hasn't won.

I've said this before I'm gonna repeat it again, if you have never known peace you will never stop fighting. They must never stop fighting, yes lives are lost that is not a good this but it is for the greater good. As a black South African I will forever stand with their cause, they must not give up they must fight for their native land. We would be here, existing if our parents gave up their fight for liberation, yes SA is not the best far from it how ever it is better than it was.

This was a really tough video to get through for me. I understand the history, causes, and solutions between Palestine and Israel. I support the emancipation of Palestinians to have land and freedom from the oppressive government of Israel so they can both live together peacefully like they have done before in history. And even though all of actions from Hamas aren't defendable like when innocent people are killed, it's impossible to not see the reasons why a lot of these people fight the military. They are all sick of being humiliated and seen as less human by Israel and the world, and is resisting the only way they see possible. My view of Palestine fighters and freedom fighters lately have shifted, I can see and understand their side of life in Gaza. Being part Native American and knowing American history, there are so many similarities to Palestinians and the destruction of Native American tribes. Being Native I'm drawn to support freedom fighters who are facing the same horrible treatment Native Americans did and defending themselves the same as Natives did. ❤ 🇵🇸
