The man is not lying. 15 years on the ground 11 full time rigging I have welding and structural back ground also. Now I’m in a seat of a tower crane no more 2$ raises gimme my rate or find someone else and trust me ain’t nobody like us when we start from the bottom.

IATSE 720 Climbing high rigger, and IRATA/SPRAT Rope Access Technician here. Been a rock climber for 28 years. Once I found this profession I never looked back. Can without a doubt say its the coolest job I’ve ever had. I live and work In the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas Nevada. And work all over the U.S. The job comes with plenty of perks too!

Hey im just getting my qualifications so i can eventually get into it, so do u get to be in good locations alot? Like up high on buildings and stuff? Or can u be down on ground level alot aswell? Its why i want to do it because of how exciting it looks do u think i will like it considering thats what i am looking for?

I started off driving prime movers to construction sites. Became a rigger after that and then became a crawler crane operator. Keyword is upgrade. Planning to work on offshore cranes soon.

@vik that’s true when it comes to rig moves and stuff like that. I started out as an ironworker and moved up. Just keep at it. Get your NCCER advanced rigger certs and signalman certs it will go a long way to you getting a job.
