I got diagnosed with ADD 18 years ago as a teenage. Spent my whole life fighting ADD. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 9 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.

Can you help me with the reliable source 🙏. I'm 56 and have suffered for years with addiction, anxiety and severe ptsd, I got my panic attacks under control myself years ago and they have come back with a vengeance, I'm constantly trying to take full breaths but can't get the full satisfying breath out, it's absolutely crippling me, i live in Australia. I don't know much about these mushrooms. Really need a reliable source!! Can't wait to get them

100% agree I used to have Psychosis and paranoid thoughts like "people thinking about me talking about me etc. Very odd behavior after getting off Adderall from 7-16. Antidepressants at 18-29. 31 now. I took way to much, but took about 20g of Gold caps (Psilocybin containing mushroom) I analyzed my entire life. The emotions that came out helped me understand behavior etc more. Wont ever need to do it again because I'm happy and contempt forever, but I wish more people did this to alter their perception of reality. Would help with healing much trauma

I thought I was the dumbest kid in every class I had ever been in. Apart from science and art. Now people tell me I'm really smart and now at 30yrs of age I'm only just beginning to believe people and friends weren't joking. When I left school at 18 I was able to learn what ever I enjoyed, I did this through the internet and books, KZfaq helped aswell. I discovered by accident that if you have ADD you have a surprising ability to hyperfocus on any topic you find interesting. For example a friend of my parents Teaches in university to people who wish to become personal trainers in any area the choose. After a two hour conversation She asked me if I had studied in university. She was surprised which lead lead her curiosity based on my knowledge of everything to do with the human anatomy, nutrition and how to train. I even told her things she had not known. So don't be discouraged if you have ADD, you can learn anything that you really enjoy, your brain will absorb it all and faster than normal.

As a 64 year old ADD man, I can agree with this totally. I get almost OCD on subjects that fascinate me. Best wishes to you friend !

I was diagnosed with ADD 15 years ago as a teenager. But I never saw it as a disadvantage. For example when I enter a room I've seen everything, even the colour of the ceiling, missing the main subject cause there are a shitload of new impulses and everything is more interesting than the thing you have to do. You know 'normal' people don't have this, use it in your advantage, and focus exists if the subject is interesting enough.

Rick Green literally saved my life, and he has no idea who I am. I got diagnosed because of a video he did. Diagnosis changed my life and saved my career and my relationship as well as directly the life of someone else who I helped to get diagnosed and get the help they needed. If I ever meet this guy in person I'll probably quite inappropriately give him a hug and start crying. Partly because I have ADHD, and partly because I'm so damned grateful.

ADHD was a lightbulb moment. It was the realisation of it that made me cry for the first time in years because I finally understood myself. Now I'm trying to get a diagnosis and having to fight mental health people who are anti-diagnosis and belittle my attempts. Oh man!!! "You don't have ADHD, you just need to focus more!!"... That's the crux of the whole thing, he nailed it!! When I was young I couldn't imagine other kids seriously making more effort to foucus harder I could see some were simply brighter, no problem. But my mom and dad would say "you need to make more of an effort"... And I wanted to by it's hard when there si not one train-of-thoughts but countless ones an you keep jumping from one to another. I really felt the emotion at the end, by the way. Luckily my life went a bit smoother. My wife learnt to live with it, but she does prompt me to have a focus when it's needed. I have medication which I don't take every day but it does help.

I want so much to understand why my life has turned out so badly, compared to what I wanted. I'm a smart man. I did well in school all the way to Grade 13. I was at the top of my class in accounting in college. But I struggled to get through university, and graduated with just enough of an average to get an Honours BA degree. My memory sucks. The quality of my work sucked before the Covid shutdown. And from my earliest memories, I have felt like I am just a spectator in my own life.

john brace, I hope you will also research the natural ways to manage ADHD, because there are several, and drugs, while good for some, do come with side effects. I'm just realizing I probably have ADHD, and my life took a downward turn that led to a series of "regrets of a lifetime" that I can't undo now several months after I'd stopped exercising, and had no solid creative hobby (I used to play music which kept me going along stably and managing life with undiagnosed ADHD for years - I didn't know I had it,, but having a creative outlet helped me focus enough to manage life) and I turned to internet consumption and computer games. That's when things started going in circles and spiraling. Lack of exercise/not exercising with cardio and weights; (increases anxiety/doesn't alleviate it), not knowing about meditation, yoga, learning about and practicing mindfulness, and breathing exercises that all help with emotional regulation and impulsivity - teaching you to stop, think, and breathe before you act impulsive, plus the exercise keeps you calm, and that consumption over creation (consuming internet which is all too easy today, TV, or video games vs creating; playing music, doing photography, art, carpentry, engineering, basically anything that's creation, when done more than consumption, really helps you feel stable, positive, focused, and and on a steady track) shifts your focus and life into a good and calm and steady place. So I hope you will try some of these things if you aren't seeing results with meds. Doctors often tend to throw meds at people rather than try the natural approach first (in all cases, but many also don't understand much about ADHD). And I think the natural approach works, because I did it for years and managed life alright for years and this is with not even knowing I had ADHD, but knew that I was different and couldn't get a lot done that I wanted to. When I was exercising at a gym for just an hour a day or even walking an hour a day, eating healthfully (I forgot to add that one in) taking the proper vitamins (I'm mostly vegetarian so I need to supplement with B Vitamins and didn't for years which didn't help my feeling tired and unmotivated), and having an engaging, creative hobby where you create something, not consume something. Makes a huge difference in your life and mental state and ability to manage things and feel positive, so I hope you will try these natural ADHD managing methods! :)

I was shocked to see OCD lumped in with ADHD. I have screaming tics from intrusive thoughts and they seem to happen so randomly and then the OCD makes them run in a circle. I’m at my wits end and so is my family. I got a message from my cousin and it was an article about a kid with OCD who had very similar symptoms except for screaming, and the article didn’t go into any detail how but said “he stopped it himself”. Bullshit. Excuse my lingo. Now it seemed she was passing judgment on me and when I actually responded back with how life had been going, she didn’t seem engaged but only wanted to hint that I could fix it. I’ve had friends who tried to tell me how to fix my life who had no idea what they were talking about. One was a therapist who got three other ppl and assembled like the friggin Avengers on my front porch demanding answers and literally saying the words. “Because you don’t WANT to challenge yourself.” I had been going nonstop, people-pleasing, doing everything I could. I worked in retail, (disgusting btw) worked with kids at church, was dealing with family bullying and no answer I could give them was good enough to elicit anything but head shaking. Plus...my best friend and therapist who had assembled everyone knew I had been raped. I was DONE with humanity. When I didn’t do what they thought best, they cut me off. When I stopped telling my struggles to my best friend, bc she told everyone my business, she had a petition filed with the court to have me handcuffed and brought in for assessment. I realized I attract narcissistic personalities and now I’m VERY selective about who I let in my life. Disclaimer: I WAS suicidal but my friend only cared about her supply. My ocd was so bad that I once stayed in the shower for eleven hours. Therefore, I hated going out bc I had to come back and defunk. While in the shower, my mom came into the bathroom, cussed me out, told me I was ruining the house, called me names. I had the water turned off when I had soap in my eyes...meanwhile, the thoughts were driving me crazy and I was told that if she knew I would grow up to struggle like this, she never would have had me. At work ADHD and OCD made me appear incompetent. As a visual, think of going into a Gap and seeing lots of stacks of clothes, out of place and halfway folded SUPER NEATLY. And that’s bc I saw something that needed straightening, went to straighten it, had to help a customer or coworker and came back and saw a different stack that needed folding, completely forgetting about the others. I couldn’t take verbal instruction in even three steps. I asked a manager to write it down and he said, “just come find me”. Maybe it’s insecurity but sometimes I think that even the kids I taught thought I was incompetent. I truly felt completely WORTHLESS. Now, I have cut people out of my life that have no right to be here and have started a support page on Instagram for victims of narcissistic abuse. I’m disabled but hoping to come off of SSI in the future somehow. Not sure how...

Wow, so sorry you've been going through all that! I'm dyslexic/nvld with my adhd, but have just enough OCD-type tendencies to get an idea of what it's like, so my heart goes out to you, I hope things are turning better now that you have a little distance from all that negativity. The feelings of insecurity and incompetence are familiar to me, part of the "'Imposter Syndrome", that "chronic self-doubt and sense of intellectual fraudulence that override any feelings of success or external proof of one's competence." (i'd cite the wiki I got that from but lost it for now, doh..) But once you know what it is, there are ways you can counter it. There are tons of videos about it out there, like the one below... Rick and Patrick = heroes, lifesavers. I don't know why they don't have top medals from their government - some medal of freedom or whatever. It took real effort, real caring about others no matter what anyone thought of them to do what they did - come forward to the world about this. That program literally changed my life. KNOWING is power, knowledge is power. You can't fix it, but knowing the why or how of something gives you at least some power over it. Asking for help takes guts. Rick gave me great power. Fixed? No. And in my case, even some of the highest doses of things only do so much (diagnosed with severe ADHD by a neuro-psychologist (or however it's spelled). Severe. All involved said "I have NO doubt you have........" Couple it with what I've come to call the "Sheldon Cooper syndrome" where you have zero patience for those who can't keep up or who can't see what I see or know what I know (due to high IQ according to school psychologist) and you have a double-whammy. Even without ADHD, I'd have no social skills and would be impatient with those who can't figure something out. Add severe ADHD and you are at the end of your rope - then you see their program on PBS and suddenly............ now I know and have tools and can ask for help with things.

I am 50 at the end or this month and it's finally sunk in this is why the way I am...I am now who I own. I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow to get a referral to see a professional about it.

Man I’m just figuring out that I most likely have it. I’m excited but also pretty down about it. I can’t wait to try the meds but also worried other people will look at me differently. I’m excited that at work I’ll finally be able to remember my task or the measurements for the cad file that I need to change. I hate finishing peoples sentences or interrupting others. I hate going to my room to look for something and by the time I get there I forgot what I was getting. I love to tinker with electronics and 3d printing. I 3d printed an awesome bmw car shell and build the chassis and everything but it’s been two years almost and I still have a few finishing touches that I can’t get myself to finish. When I finally feel like I’m close to finishing a project I lose all interest and motivation :( . And man Amazon loves my impulsive spending

I got ADD,MDD,Bipolar depressive disorder. And a heart condition WPW life with mental problems is hard, but it makes us very unique. I can't have adderall or a stimulant to help with my ADD. My wpw won't allow it, so I try to stay motivated and happy and take my meds. Just remember it does get better.

I was told the same thing. You don’t have ADD it’s OCD and Anxiety! Because that’s what I was diagnosed with as a child. I struggled for 30 years and I’m gonna get therapy if it’s the last thing I do….

First, I've never heard him speak before...lol. Second, thanks, Rick for telling it like it is. Not just for you, but for me, too. Sadly, I too once thought 'ADHD? Is that a real thing?' Yeah. Yeah, it is.

You can find tests online, and go to Rick’s website to learn more. Watch more of these videos, and if they ring true, do what you can to shift your environment until you can get to a place in life where you can get an official diagnosis. Medication helps so much, but so do the strategies given by these resources: How to ADHD and Rick’s site.

And the skeptisizm never ends. Wheather its family members or people at work. You just have to get to the point where you have to give up with these people - even family members. You have to put yourself before them!

Seriously?? Really?? ADHD is ADD with the hyperactivity. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. If you have ADHD, you have ADD but you can have ADD without being so hyper. Might do a little research on it before critiquing........... Some schools of thought also say there are further sub-types of ADD.

I'm tired of reading about ADHD. Like seriously, ADD and ADHD have different symptoms but people confuse the 2 all the time. As somone who suffers from ADD symptoms I cannot find a video that talks about ADD and its treatment without mentioning ADHD and acting like they're the same thing!
