What I would add: Istaeli Bandage, Cool pack, Splint. As someone who hiked a lot but always tries to be back at the hotel room when it‘s dark my motto is: keep going. That‘s why I would put those items in your pack and I guess they would fit.

4:43 having a little ground cloth -even if it’s just a piece of silicone/naphtha scrap bedsheet or rolled Tyvek -is a serious difference maker. Reminds me of Les Stroud 20+ years ago wearing what looked almost like a repurposed floor mat from the back seat, hanging over his butt like a reversed apron, so that he had a dry place to sit in the Season 1 snow episodes of Survivorman. Speaking of which we gotta hand it to Les. Without him there’s be no bushcraft and survival genres on youtube. His selfie survival tactics literally created a genre 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I would say this is a good kit. Have you thought about the grayl geopress with the steel nesting cup? You can avoid having to make a fire each time to boil water but with the cup still have that option. Also a small first aid kit would be ideal. Also a good baseplate compass would be ideal. but you do have a nice kit!

Added in a small First aid kit. You just made a light go off in my head about the wipes as well. I will be tossing in a few of those. I actually have a bag of these tiny "add water towels". They're about the size of a quarter and when you add the water they expand into a biodegradable towel. Definitely need to remember that when I get home as I'm about to do overnighters with this haversack and my "heavy-duty haversack" I just put out a video on last night. You're right........ A bivy or a thermal reactor liner would probably be a good lightweight addition to sleep in, extra clothes or rain cover next go astray either. Here in Australia, a FAK is equivalent to carrying bear spray in certain areas, snakes and spiders are everywhere.

@@awayinthewilderness4319 I just bought a Jerven Fjellduken Hunter for my day pack but it’s probably too big to your purposes. Typically people carry SOL escapes, or snugpak sf bivys. 2 Thick bin liners 55 gallon can be great too, one for going in, one for stuffing as a mattress.

Love the idea of a haversack but I need to balance a load due to shoulder issues. Loved how everything was compact and well thought out, especially the waxed canvas pouches. The only thing I think is missing is a first aid kit and maybe a poncho of some kind in case of rain or inclement weather (unless the shelter was also a poncho, haven't seen the other video yet). Just subscribed.

Thanks for watching! First aid kit has been added in since this video. I do have a good poncho, but it's quite a bit heavier than the T60 shelter. What's tough about putting together these minimal/lightweight kits is choosing what to leave out and what to add. You almost have to sacrifice in one area or another. Thanks for watching and for the recommendation! 👍

Uh, this haversack kit is intended for day hikes! You will not be in a combat zone! Just my opinion….I’m not criticizing, I just feel that’s way too much trauma gear for a day hike. On my day hikes I carry a SWAT-T, small z-fold quick clot, two pair nitrile gloves, 4 inch IBD, a Laerdal CPR mask and a small boo boo kit. After many hikes, I have only used the boo boo kit a few times for minor injuries. I also carry a 3 inch ACE wrap for strains/ sprains, etc. In Addition, i also carry a medication pack with basic emergency meds. Just my two cents! Thanks!

That's a well thought out "Wannabe a Bushcrafter kit" ! All that gear looks brand new , your bottle has never seen fire nor have the orange stakes been driven into the ground. Has the Mora ever been out of the sheath ? Is this an advertisement for Pathfinder gear ? Get out there and do the dirt work and actually use the gear.

You might have missed when I said some of that gear in that haversack is mainly for emergency purposes. My prior video I did use some of it in a simple overnight video. Including the red stakes getting driven into the ground and the nesting cup going in the fire. I definitely would like to get more dirt time in though. Kinda hard sometimes with a big family and other responsibilities and obligations. Have a haversack trip planned at some point in the near future. I'll be putting some more of these items to use. Take care.

Nice kit and video! Well done sir! I would add a small trauma/FAK/boo boo kit with ACE elastic wrap. Also whistle/ signal mirror. I would add a few more food items also as well as a small fishing kit. I would ditch the Mylar blanket and add a SOL Heatsheet to replace the Mylar. You have a new sub also! Keep the vids coming!

Thanks for watching and for the recommendations! In the process of moving at the moment and also busy with work. Hoping to get an overnight video up as soon as we get settled in the new place. Thanks for the sub! 👍✌️
