Be sure to check out my new channel @🇮🇹✨julieinitaly
Authentic Italy, Delivered to Your Doorstep! 🏡🍝
Links to Flea Markets: www.selency.co.uk and www.etsy.com
I've put a lot of thought into this new channel, @julieinitaly and decided now is the perfect time to take the plunge. My @AmericanViscountess KZfaq channel has seen incredible growth since its inception, now boasting over 213k subscribers. Our "Castles, Manors, and Stately Homes" content is also licensed by Little Dot Studios www.littledotstudios.com and is featured on their various KZfaq and FAST channels, such as @RealRoyalty (with 1.2 million subscribers), @ChronicleMedieval - @AbodeLDS (interior design and renovation), and more. Thank you all for being part of this journey! 🙏🏻
Given the popularity of my Little Italian House renovation vlogs on the @AmericanViscountess channel-some of which have surpassed 1 million views-it made sense to launch a dedicated channel, @julieinitaly Thank you for your continued support! 🎉
At the launch of @julieinitaly I'll be uploading archive vlogs from the past three years to help build the channel. Starting in July 2024, you'll get to enjoy fresh and exciting content. The kitchen renovation videos will continue to be uploaded on @AmericanViscountess and eventually on @julieinitaly It may seem a bit confusing, but rest assured, you'll get a healthy dose of Italy on both channels until the end of 2024 when we fully transition. Phew, and thank you! 🥳
Please subscribe to @julieinitaly - it costs nothing and helps me grow the channel. 🙏🏻❤️📈

A few shelves were my first thought too, but you can search for a cute small china cabinet to pop into the nook as well

You did such an amazing job not only having a vision, but being able to tweak it as necessary. I love finding all second hand, either antique or vintage. But to pull it all together in a cohesive and beautiful way. Absolute kudos to you. You’ve done an amazing job and you should be so dang proud of yourself. A beautiful vision, come to fruition.

Hello from America 🇺🇸 I just found your channel and you remind me of myself. I am 51 years old and dreamed my whole life to visit Italy 🇮🇹. I got really sick where I almost lost my life not too long ago. I just came back from vacationing in Rome , Pisa, Naples, Sorrento Pompeii. I got to take a beautiful cruise and spend time there finally. I wanted to cry when I got to Italy. I loved it. It was just weird that your channel popped up in my recommended. I can’t wait to see all your videos. If anything ever happened to my husband I’d be like you living in Italy 🇮🇹💕

It all looks great. You may have already designed the living room nook, but a vintage or antique open bookcase painted in a complimentary green would be beautiful and draw the eye to such a unique feature of the room. I hope you continue to go flea market shopping after the decorating is complete and take us along! I remember the guest bedroom and was so excited that you kept the headboards original as well as the bath! It's wonderful to see your children get involved too!

How about putting an antique drop leaf desk in the cubby? Something like a secretary desk with open legs so you can still see the terracotta floor tile. You could also add a simple chair that could be pushed into the desk when not in use and then pull it out when needed for extra company.

Hi from Florida! Love the stairs. Idea for sitting room nook: shelving for books, games, etc. I would wallpaper it & use rough hewn boards, maybe salvaged? Put a rechargeable light(s). I like the kitchen plans & I agree w/Luke about covering over the exposed cutouts in the walls, & expose just those that are larger areas. For the little nook w/the archway, use it for cookbooks, cutting boards & the like. If there is a ledge under the little window, you may like terracotta pots filled with fresh herbs😊 nice work!

Regarding the alcove, as you have the pull out bed in that room have you thought about where bedding, duvet, pillows etc would go during the day when you have guests using that room to sleep? My suggestion would be to have some sort of blanket box or storage cupboard in the alcove to hide/store the bedding away when not in use. You could also then place some shelves above for books and games etc. The villa is beautiful and you have done a wonderful job.

One of the best things we have experienced in furnishing our little Italian home is the artwork. We have found hand signed and verified original oils of the Tuscan countryside. And honestly they are a steal. Also found our all time favorite Mercator dell’usato in Tuscany. We also went to the one you went to Julie where you couldn’t find the entrance and yes, it was lovely. Also found an amazing place for lunch right around the corner. So much fun!

Julie talking about her surprise bonus room before she finds the surprise basement is peak accidental foreshadowing! It would be interesting if Julie could find out more about the history of the building, I get a feeling that the building has been reconfigured and redivided over its existence, especially the way the stairs are. Julie has said that the entrance next to them was the main entrance, yet there isn't much space there, and the stairs are awkward in how they flow into the living space there, it makes me feel like they used to be closed off and that it was a direct entrance to upstairs, maybe at one point the upstairs was a small one bedroom apartment.

Your kitchen ideas are great. I would try putting some rustic wooden shelves in the large open "ugly" stone area in the Kitchen- maybe have someone clean out the bricks and odd bits that are pushed in there, and replace with stone. That way you could collect interesting Italian glass storage containers for the shelves (if it's deep enough). Maybe worth thinking about. Maybe on the open stone recesses just remove the really odd bits and keep the main shape- they are so cool. Oh yes, in the living room- you could put a small chest in the recess there, and put small TV on top. edit- or one of those huge antique glass wine containers with led lights inside, perhaps. It would be so comfortable to lay on the daybed and watch a movie on a rainy day! Great home, good job!

I am excited to see the kitchen reveal. Yes, cover up the walls, all the stone is distracting. Love the plans for the flooring, so fitting for this home. Don't care for the open cabinet design. Cabinets give interest to a room. Open cabinets say I cut corners, looks unfinished. Everyone looks on wondering why there aren't doors on the cabinets. Shelves on the wall are nice.

Cover up all the stone in the kitchen except for one feature wall ( a small one). The nook in the loungeroom could be inspired by the way the traditional Japanese houses used nooks to display a stand-out piece of pottery and flower arrangement.

When I lived in Spain I had the same kind of alcove, and I found an antique, 13th century Alhambra style water jar on a stand. Here in Italy we have same kind of water jars, from every period till early 20th century. The difference between the olive and water jars that the water ones are more "filigree" so fit a bit more to tiny places and for me they look more artistic. You also can find Moroccan style jars, they are even more colourful.

Very nice reveal and the stairs look beautiful. On your cubbyhole you could either do a bookshelf insert and put your treasures on those or push your chair back in the corner and decorate the wall if you’re sitting in the chair to the right of it. Now if you wanted a TV you could mount it above the cubbyhole and cover it with a picture frame. 😊
