The reason why people told you to pay attention to the background ponies is because some of them stood out so much that the fandom turned them into full characters by making whole animations based of them. Those fan-favorites are: *Derpy* - A grey pegasus with a bubble-cutie mark. She's known for her cross-eyed expressions *Lyra* - A mint green unicorn. She can be sometimes seen sitting and acting like a human, so in the fandom she's known as a pony obsessed with discovering humans *Bon Bon* - A beige earth pony who always seems to hang out with Lyra. There are many times where she actually has a speaking role, she always has a different ways which made her stand out *Octavia* - The grey earth pony you could see in this episode who played the cello at the galla. She's associated with classical music and often paired up in the fandom with *Vinyl Scratch/DJ Pon-3* - A white unicorn with blue mane and pink glasses who's associated with techno-music and beats. Many people even made Octavia and Vinyl roommates and played on how different their choices of music are. There's a few more that stand out, but those are the fan-favorites. After a while, the show itself realized that the fandom cared for these background characters and started giving them a bit more personality, so keep paying attention to the background to get a bit familiar with them.

Don't worry about the background ponies too much. People are overly attached to them because the show likes to pull things from the fandom and put them into the show such as names that we made for them or character traits. Just enjoy the episodes. There's just a shit ton of fan created lore out there and honestly, unless you plan to delve into it, it's just not really worth worrying about noticing all the little nuances and nods to the fandom they like to do later on.

I've always thought Twilight and Spike had a mother/son, big sister/little brother relationship. Especially after it was revealed that Twilight hatched Spike. And I absolutely love it. They're adorable together.

Sweet, more pony fun today! "The Cutie Mark Chronicles" is an old favorite of mine from this season(as well as episodes 25 and 26). About Spike, I like him. He may not be the sharpest quill sometimes but, he's still a fun character. Seeing Pinkie go nutsy koo-koo was creepy but, knowing that Fluttershy can be scary(by going mad) when she wants to says a lot!😐 That's one season down, and things are gonna heat up in S2!

I liked the first episode....it was a bit convenient, but I liked how the rainboom bound the Mane 6 together and was responsible for giving them their cutie marks. It plays into the whole "friendship is magic" theme. The second episode....I felt like all the drama could have been easily avoided had Twilight only told Spike the truth from the get-go....that he's a wonderful assistant and friend, but that she needed someone to help her AT NIGHT while he was asleep and that's why Owloycious joined them as her junior assistant. Instead, she says "this is my new assistant...she and the other ponies just shower praise on the owl and Spike gets jealous and insecure causing him to run away before he learned the truth.

I don't know which episodes of season 2 of MLP you've been told to react to, but every single one of the first five are amazing for different reasons. First there's the two-part season premiere. Then, some absolutely crazy s#%! happens in the third episode, which also changes something about the formula of the show. The fourth episode reintroduces an important character who hasn't been seen since near the very beginning of the series, and the fifth episode is very, very cute.

Darn I wish I'd been watching the channel earlier so I could have dropped the 'interesting' theories that came out with these early episodes. Like for example the reason Scoots is so obsessed with Rainbow Dash isn't just because she can't fly, but also she wants her as a surrogate mother/big sister because she is an orphan. Then there is the part with Applejack wondering what Big Mac and Granny Smith were doing on on the farm and nothing said about her own parents. Leading people to believe they were dead as well. That also leads on to a question as to where Apple Bloom came from if they were already dead while Applejack was a kid. This birthed the concept that Apple Bloom is actually Applejack's child that she had while still a teenager. The family not wanting a scandal thus play them off as siblings and have never revealed the truth. Oh and how perspective of you to pick up on the birth of cereal killer and cannibal split personality Pinkamena. A fan fav that hacks up ponies to put into cupcakes and keeps their cutie marks in folders like a stamp collector. The most famous victim of such treatment being Rainbow Dash.
