I don't believe it's possible to dodge a blue shell shroomless with the halfpipe. Shortcat made some shorts about this, but basically, using a mushroom doesn't actually get you out of the radius of the blue shell explosion, it just makes you invincible from blue shells that land right as you activate it, and other sources of boost don't give you this effect.

Fun fact about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe stats and why Inside Drift feels so strange. In this game there were supposed to be 2 types of Traction: Off-Road and On-Road. The Off-Road Traction is the Traction stat that is also shown in the game and jt determines how much you slip on slippery tracks (and it also determines your max speed on slippery tracks but it's pretty negligible). The name "Off-Road" is kinda misleading because vehicle with different Off-Road Traction behave the same way on actual Off-Road (that according to game's internal code it's just a slippery track called "DIRT" and its values don't change with levels unlike the values for the other slippery tracks (SAND and ICE). The code for the conversion tables for Off-Road Traction are pretty much copy-pasted from Mario Kart 7 Off-Road stat... with values changed of course. The other type of Traction is On-Road Traction that SHOULD determine how much you slip on regular track when you start a Drift. Every character and vehicle part is ready to make this stat work (they all have different values of this stat) but this stat doesn't work at all because all the values in its conversion table are set to 0.75 regardless of the level, meaning that every combo slips the same way on regular track. Yes, all vehicles do always slip in this game, including Inside Drift Bikes, that's why they have that awkward start making them feel "Hybrid". This stat is ported from Mario Kart 7 as well, and it was called "Drift". Yes, you've heard me out correctly: Mario Kart 8 was supposed to have a "Drift stat" (On-Road Traction), but it's not used at all: it's just forgotten junk code... SAD.

As an inside drift main, I would understand putting any of the ID Bikes one tier below the other frames with similar stats (Yoshi and Comet one tier below Teddy Buggy, for example). Despite the perks, the drawbacks for ID is usually too much for racers who normally run OD.

speed based combos are underrated. with them you have to play a more defensive playstyle, and using your mushrooms to recover after a hit and making a huge breakaway into first place when the opportunity is there. they excel at holding 1st place. i also think inside drift works really well with speed builds since one advantage inside drift does have over outside drift is that drifting doesn't slow you down, and you can see players behind you better. power items are also way better on higher speed stat!

I used to use fem villager+city tripper for ultimate cute combo with S tier stats but eventually I switched to princess+scooty. The Mini-turbo just feels too good.

I think part of why the karts still feel clunky is cause your still using rollers with them. for example for the 500 sl roadster it actually feels kinda nice with the slim/crimson wheels. aka some wheels work better with different frames (sometimes the character selected also effect the feeling of jank)

The Mach 8 has very high anti gravity speed so it had a big advantage in tracks like Dragon Driftway

I switched from City Tripper to Standard Bike/Flame Rider because CT just didn’t have enough speed.

The mach 8 has the same stats as the ink striker (except for the invincibility stat) and the miis will have the same stats depending on the weight. Lightwieght is Baby Mario, Midwieght is Mario, and heavy weight is Wario.

I play using the jet bike. I chose it years ago, not knowing the tiers or popular online vehicles. I have gotten used to it. It has great speed but you always gotta look ahead and anticipate drifts early. Hitting walls and getting hit by items seem to punish this vehicle more than most.

First of all congrats on 500K!! Secondly, I use inside/hybrid drift a lot in Mario Kart 8. I use Sport Bike + Rollers + Rosalina. The Jet Bike is unplayable even when I am very used to the inside drifting of MK8. It just feels weird, clunky, and different from all the rest. G tier. Worst vehicle in the game by a mile.
