My Master 1 Galaxy-Eyes Photon Deck | Combos, Tips, and Guides to counter the meta!

I feel satisfied reaching Master 1 with Galaxy-Eyes Photon deck for the first time. For the first 3 Master 1s, I reached them with 3 different Blue-Eyes versions. With the new support coming earlier this month, reaching Master 1 with Galaxy Photon becomes more possible than before, since they allow the deck to play through some interuption(s).
The deck prefers going 1st, to do combos and make a strong board. The usual board can consist of 1 monster negate, 1 spell negate, and 1 quick destroy, alongside some other cards, such as handtraps/staples. Then, the deck focuses to OTK on your second turn (turn 3 of the game). Despite all that, the deck is very capable of going 2nd and OTK, even with only its own pure engine. Still, you need to know how meta decks work and what are their chokepoints, since this will be important for you to know what to counter and help you win your games.
However, the deck can struggle hard against some handtraps, like Maxx C, Droll, and Shifter, or GY floodgate cards (like Dimensional Fissure, Necrovalley, etc), so dont be surprised when that happens.

I had tried the blind 2nd version of the deck, but I feel going 1st is better, since doing that (go 2nd) ignores Galaxy Hundred's strength, which is to see what you are playing against, prepare yourself on what to counter, and banish key monsters as well. Besides, the deck sometimes combos a little too much to play as a go 2nd deck. Would it be true to say that one of it's biggest strengths is that it really flexes going both first and second really well? Seems like you go first and you set up a couple negates, a pop, and maybe an unaffected monster. Go second and you have one of the most reliable OTK's in the game.

Galaxy eyes is one of if not my favorite deck. I played it in the xyz festival and did pretty well. The gamesi lost is because of my error or not knowing match up. Your videoes has helped me understanding combos

Absolutely love this. The 200 iq plays and the Analysis into why you made all the plays you, it just benefits all into being better players especially me who really wanted the new support from PHHY to be good and it turns out to just be so...damn...good. i had to buy the rest of what i need. Only problem I had was changing out what felt like half the deck due to Knight and Brave really not being worth it anymore. Would kill to have you in a little private video call and just theory craft and pick your brain behind the masterful way you've built the deck and your sheer knowledge. A true King

I picked this deck up for the Legend Anthology Acceleration event, and it did pretty well! I threw in a Galaxy Cleric to set up in the gy, so for followup turns I could make Solflare to add back Summoner, then summoning Summoner brings back Cleric for its Avarice effect. then from there I make Galaxy Photon Dragon and go into my plays

@@beenjamminbunny9977 I guess you cannot double your c62, but c62 still has its unaffected effect as long as it has GEPD as its material. Besides, you still have other Galaxy-Eyes XYZ to destroy cards and they have 3k+ attacks, so I guess you should still be fine when that happens.

I tried the deck a few ways, I definitely like hyper, and I think it pairs nicely with a single copy of sanctuary. Think of it this way, it unbricks gedp and that's even sweeter if you managed to draw afterglow by accident. And it even combos with hyper as being tribute fodder! And obviously it can be used for our 1 link summon. It's variety of uses, I think are huge waste to not be using. Plus you can search it

I have never think of using cipher x to extend combo. Usually its my last resort if i failed to end the game with no62 . Very nice vid. Does x effect still protect your monster on the next turn ?

It protects your monsters until the end of the opponent's turn - so if you use it going first, they can't target your monsters on their turn.

@@amritlohia8240 But important to note, it only protects monsters that were on the field when it was activated. A really dumb OCG ruling that unfortunately made it to master duel, despite the card being rather clear that it's supposed to be nebulous and not only applying to currently on the field. Either a really stupid balance ruling that never got errata'd, or Cipher X's english translation has always been wrong and never corrected.

TCG ruling protects all your Light monsters from targetting until the end of the next turn. However, Master Duel seems to follow OCG ruling, where Cipher X only protects Light monsters you control WHEN you activate its effect. For example on my duel against Runick Naturia, when my opp could still target and negate no 38, when I had activated Cipher X in the previous turn.

I am actually happy to see that the plays I've been cooking up look like yours! You're a beast never thought to use hyper galaxy. Though have you tried running photon sanctuary at 1? If you opt out of searching hyper you can use it to instead keep cipher x on the field along with 38 and 90 on your turn 1 plays by being able to link summon using the tokens. Furthermore if he makes it to the next round you can resserect 38 if they die, and if they don't you can turn him into a full armor photon dragon for additional removal on your turn.

After the new support, I dont think the deck needs Photon Sanctuary, since it's only good for Link Solflare/summon GEPD easier and the new supports make the deck more XYZ oriented. Hyper Galaxy wasnt in the deck before. It was Talent, but it didnt help me go 1st/2nd, so I replaced it with Hyper. If I compare Hyper/Sanctuary, Hyper seems better, because it can give you an extra interruption if you go first. Sanctuary may not be used if you still have Cipher X, since your field is too full of monsters (like in the first duel). Still, your point of saving Cipher X for next turn is pretty legit.

I can definitely say that you usually have room tho, I often don't get an extra 8 star out of my galaxy photon dragons but maybe that's just me and my bad habits lol

Love the video! I just built this deck and I'm learning how to use it. Question though, what do I do if I lose coin toss and go second vs Purrely? I did the combos but they still managed to get Noir out and I lost. Started with Vanisher, Wizard, Jumper, Ash, Ogre and Called By in hand.

Use Ghost Ogre on the gacha spell, and Ash is bad against Purrely, but you can try to use it to chain block or Purrely xyz can attach it to itself. If you can draw droplet, you can use it to negate Noir once its material is lower than 5 (no more unaffected). You can bet to summon Photon Blast (hope he doesnt read it) and then go straight to 62 and c62, which will be too late for him to bounce.

In the third duel couldn’t u have gone with an endboard of GPD, Blast dragon, solflare, lord and 38? Activate expedition to SS Afterglow, make level 4 then detach it with GPD to add vanisher, then make the GEPD u summon with afterglow effect level 4, SS vanisher, xyz into blast dragon, SS the GEPD u added with vanished, link off Soldier and emperor into solflare, add back afterglow, xyz into lord then trance into 38?

GPD can only change others' level to 4 or 8 once per turn, same as it's search effect.

@@LightDragon-DuelEnjoyer9990I’m sayin instead of changing soldier to level 4, use expedition to SS Afterglow, then use summoner to change it to level 4, detach afterglow for GPD search (vanisher for blast dragon play), and then use GPD to make the GEPD from afterglow effect level 4, then SS vanisher, add GEPD, xyz into Blast dragon, SS GEPD, link off soldier (it’s still on board now) and Emperor into solflare, add back the afterglow u detached, xyz into Lord, then Trance with the Emperor in the GY u linked off

Why don't you use starliege photon blast? It summons from hand and protects against targets and destructions A lot of effects can simply be ignored with a starliege and galaxy photon on the field

Different meta. I think this was on Purrely meta. Imagine you make Photon Blast and GPD, then opp summons Zeus. For current meta, I think making both Photon Blast and GPD is the better option tho (if you check my latest video)

It's pretty good. It can help you extend your combo, since it can summon itself as lv 4 or 8 and help your R4 or 8 XYZ summon.

This deck prefers to go 1st, and in general, Thrust is better for go 2nd deck. So, I wouldnt play it in this deck. If you want to update it against Kashtira, you can replace Ogre+Droplets with 3 Imperms/Book of Moons.

I’ve seen a KZfaqr in Master combining Kaiju with Galaxy Eyes to counter players putting their monsters in DEF position. Would you recommend? Or nah

Kaiju prevents you from using Trance, which is important imo, so I dont think combining Kaiju with the deck is good. Besides, the deck can summon many strong XYZs, which you can use to attack.

Can you explain why Jumper top search priority is Galaxy Hundred? If jumper activated, meaning Jumper is already sent to the grave, so the only target for extender is Emperor, and I think Trance has higher priority in this case?

The search depends on the situation, but mostly you will send jumper to GY via Hundred, or after you use normal summon (Like jumper + vanisher , or wizard/soldier + vanisher). Thus, you need the 2nd normal summon that Emperor provides. Again, it depends on situation, since there may be times when you need to use Jumper's eff to add Trance to summon GPD, and this knowledge on situation can depend on your experience with the deck.

What way can I get these cards? Is there a certain secret pack you would recommend us open? Or the structure deck etc?

There are Galaxy Photon secret pack, as well as the Galactic Evolution selection pack which consist of some new Galaxy Photon cards. For structure, you only need to buy Cipher structure deck once.

What do you think it's more worth it, adding one Goddess in the place of one of the two copies of the link Dragon in the extra deck, or adding two copies of Kaiju in the place of one copie of C++ and one other card? I'm having big trouble with Dragonlink and Purrely.

2nd solflare is only needed if you cant OTK on your 2nd turn (deck's goal is to set up negates, then OTK on your 2nd turn/3rd turn of the game). If you want to replace it, maybe replace it with some extra deck which is strong on its own. dragon link and purrely is weak against droll, so maybe you can replace some staples with it. Also, droplet is strong against them (you just need to wait Noir to have lower than 5 materials to use it)

Swap Ogre and Droplet with Imperm/Book of Moon. These 2 cards are good going 1st/2nd against Kashtira.

Is adding 3 max c good when you're a go first deck? Wouldn't you wanna have only 2 to have a good chance of having it but not so much of a chance that it bricks your hand going 1st.

You have to balance the deck to go first/second, since the coin toss is sometimes not favorable. Besides, I feel the rest of the engines are already consistent enough.

Galaxy Rebirth? Galaxy Zero is decent for comeback option, so it's kinda good, tho I dont think it's super necessary.

Therion King Regulus? I dont think it's needed, and the deck most likely will need to use Galaxy Trance, which locks you into only summoning Galaxy/Photon, so Regulus wont be summoned in this case.

as a Galaxy-Eyes player for YEARS i can say that deck is just a facade, merely running pure handtraps with a few of the actual deck, with a CORE Galaxy-Eyes deck you can end up with numbers 38 and 90 and also GPD and SPBD turn 1 even if ashed, no cards in what i run would ever mean a brick and could do the same or more against most decks, i have defeated kash, SwSo, Labyrinth and Traptrix with ease without needing that ungodly amount of HTs

You learn something new everyday. LIke Noir is not uneffected by Neo Galaxy Eyes effect cause it effects the player and not Noir. Detached 7 materials and had a 8k dmg dragon that could attack 7 times and all his face up spell cards was negated.
