1. the car was going downhill 2. your car was tuned to 800bhp 3. CarAndDriver recorded 2.8 seconds in the standard M5 which has 200nm less torque, and only 592bhp compared to 603bhp

I can't overstate how amazing it is you can buy a comfortable sedan with that kind of acceleration... and there are several options available. (Few look as good as this one... that paint is perfect.)

Nice job! The E63 has always been a sleeper car for lot's of people until they hear the thunder! Now wait until U tune it and squeeze another 100 HP or so! Maybe someday you will run in with a Dodge Demon lol

Good point! I've driven E63S months ago and I was surprised how stiff the suspension is even in sport mode. C63S is more comfortable when in comfort mode but lacks little bit of stiffness when in full race mode. That can be easily fixed with wider tires or new springs. Anyone agree?

+Amir look at the down of the gages the M5 is using Launch Control and when you put the launch control the car is on sport plus until the launch control is off the car return to its setting which is comfort and efficient

Jet X Audi has the rs7 which is still brutal, if they remake the rs7 for 2018-2019, make it lighter, with 620hp which is very possible with just a tune, it will murder both e63 and m5.......ok ok not murder them because they are all super fast, but the weight of the current rs7 is the disadvantage but I still feel the rs7 looks way more aggressive and brutal.

Nice. Have done a couple race starts in my E63S so far, and they do feel quick. But I have to say I'm surprised that you got sub 3 second numbers given what other testers are reporting. I'm assuming this was with 91 octane and it was obviously on unimproved pavement. I've never used a Vbox. Any chance there are configuration settings that might have gotten whack?

Mercedes should not have shoved those dual screens and fancy new MBUX into EVERY model in the line up. They should have left the tech/design hierarchy intact like they did previously, and allow things to SLOWLY trickle down to lesser models. I'd be a little peeved if my $140k E63S (or worse $200k S65) shared so much visually with a $40K A class.

+Saqib a tenth of a second is nothing to brag about especially when the difference in acceleration is entirely negligible because without a timer you would never know the difference. That difference can come down to driver reaction time and even the tiniest of factors. And in the real world having a better interior is far better than being a tenth of a second faster. They are both equally impressive super saloons.

If that e63 comes with run flats, that will be the main reason it’s harsh, even in comfort mode. I really suggest getting some great summer tires and get rid of run flat tires, side walls are so hard in order for the tire to retain its structure Incase of an impact to the tire, need a softer compound tire and the ride will be 75% softer and way more comfortable. My f10 m5 had run flats, also my Srt jeep had run flats, got rid of those and rides way better! Especially the srt jeep with those run flats, it use to bounce around like crazy and very harsh.

That trans on the E63s is so smooth yet brutal.. that partly explains why Mercedes continues to dominate formula 1... Always love the E 63 and always love the m5.. idk I think I’d take the e63s..so many dope features

You did it downhill and you probably made sure to have a very small amount of fuel in the tank... salt, salt just because the M5 is faster than your E63s...

The amount of fuel is visible. It's a little above half full, about 60%. Look after 13:45 . It's the horizontal yellow line below the speed and the "AMG" logo.

Marc 09 No, it's actually going downhill. In the main camera we can see that the road it's going down, and there's no fish eye effect in this camera.

According to two recent German reviews, the E63 S AMG and the new M5 have basically the same straight line performance from 0-100 kph and 0-200 kph, basically no difference. Just saying. So the M5 is not slow but this doesn't change the fact that it looks outdated in the interior and sounds like crap (already heard two cars...I live in Bavaria).

im not sure how quick the boost builds when it holds rpm in launch control, but you dont hold it there for that long so I wonder if its even getting to full boost before launching. In other words you might be able to go a little quicker by keeping the revs held for another second or two :)

In what way .. BMW does not even have a super car or hyper car .. your "new" 8 series is just a 6 series just like the 4 series is just a coupe 3 series. BMW is also a year and a few months behind merc with the M5

I haven't driven the new M5, but I did drive the last gen (my neighbors, before he sold it for a 2018 Porsche GTS). It didn't feel as connected to the road as the E63S I test drove (lol the dealer let me whip it even though it was WAYYYY out of my budget). Just the feeling you got through the steering, the weight transfer, the SOUND...everything made me feel more confident and conncected to the road by a pretty huge margin. I imagine the new one is better, sure, but i don't think it would give me the visceral feeling the E63S did, I felt immediately confident in it in a way few cars have made me feel. Now my neighbors 2018 GTS, THAT is a driver's car lol. Nothing I have driven, including a Ferrari 430 gave me the connection to the road that thing gave me
