My Milk Jug Yellow Jacket Trap

How I made milk jug yellow jacket traps. Easy and simple.
TIP: Make sure the tabs you have cut are pushed inward enough to make a hole that is easy for the yellow jackets to find and climb into.
Caution: Wait until after dark when it is cool outside and yellow jacket activity has diminished to empty your trap. I recommend placing it in the freezer for a half hour to make sure all are dead before emptying.

Sequim, WA is in the "Rain Shadow" of the Olympic Mountains. We only get 16 inches per year, compared to 36 in Seattle. It is the driest place in Western Washington. We dry out pretty good during August and September. We don't water the grass much during the summer. Costs too much to try and keep it green. It comes back to green when the Fall rains return.

Years ago my dad bought a wasp trap from the store. A common transparent yellow one. It came with an attractant but it wasn't effective. I tried again a year later with orange flavored tang. Hundreds of dead wasps and yellow jackets over the summer. There were a couple bees but their numbers were so low that it cannot be compared. I didn't notice any mud daubers. Not sure what they like but sweet drinks must not be it. Or they just weren't around at the time. Not sure which. Hope this helps.

I can't wait to try this. The ground bees are nasty this year. Just do me one favor. NEVER post a vid again of you cutting anything in the direction of your body. Just a heads up for ppl who shouldn't handle sharp object anyway. LOL

Not if you use the right bait... the bait offered here attracts Hornets and wasps.. bees aren't even interested in it
