The heat is making the car a half second slower for sure. Try to record a 0-60 at night and don’t worry about the numbers man the car was and always will be slow compared to the other sports cars that are running 12s stock nowadays. Only way for the car to be really quick is boost on E85 and then you’re talking 11s and 12s in the 1/4 mile. I can see how much you enjoy this badass car on your channel and I certainly live vicariously through your content. I’m sure when a tune comes out you’ll be able to optimize the extra airflow and the car will run better.

In regards to you saying the engine is temperamental and will easily grenade, especially the boosted ones… definitely not true for the vast majority. But ESPECIALLY the Fa24. That engine was designed to actually make and hold wayyyyy more power than it’s making with the stock calibration. Just keep up with proper maintenance and get all your fluids etc up to temp. Send it, you’ll be fine.

You threw a bunch of parts at the car with no tuning. The header likely killed your torque. Several dyno tests have shown an untuned header loses power on a 22. Once its tuned it should be much better. Right now a stock car would whoop you though.
@Texas_Road_Warrior
@Texas_Road_Warrior Жыл бұрын
That’s not right… the problem with the header is they’re smaller than the oem primary tubes… and headers NEVER kill torque unless they’re short which is usually the case with UEL… if you want to go fast UEL shouldn’t be in your list 🤣

@@mrporsche4236 Smaller than stock is never better. You may gain a little low end but sacrifice top end power. Considering a BRZ is slow and needs all the high end power it can get, you would be a fool to reduce your max flow potential especially if you plan to add more mods and boost.

It's all about the launch: any extra speed you get in that first half second has the biggest impact on elapsed time. Learn to dump the clutch without damaging the clutch or drive shaft and it's all good. Saw another suggestion of 3K rpm then dump - not too high, not too low, just right in the middle there somewhere.

Gotta 2022 WRX and I get the same thing 2nd gear taps out at 57mph @ 6000 rpm! I just got back from 0-60 and 1/4 mile runs and was just talking about the exact same thing. That extra shift costs time just to get that 3 mph. If I could rev to just 6500 it'd be no problem. My best run was 5.4 sec 0-60 and 13.6 1/4 mile using Dragy as well. For the 0-60 the additional shift to 3rd probably adds around .2 or .3 IMO.

An exhaust that large on a NA 4banger and no tune is not helping you, that setup would be more favorable for a forced induction. And you changed the suspension I think I heard you say, that can definitely effect the cars ability to launch from a dead stop, just because its new with a brand name does not mean its better than the original.

@@Xdmfan02 First time? You'll realize how much of a money pit you're about to have if you keep abusing it. I mean destroying it. When I got my Camaro I believed the hype of damn an LS3 it must be built to run. NO, it has more horsepower than the drivetrain can handle. I got it at 50k miles, replaced the bushings to prevent wheel hop. Destroyed 2 axles and the 2-piece factory driveshaft within 4 months, took it to shop for the first axle, and it broke 2 months later, replaced the 2nd one my self and it held up for 2 months and then the driveshafts center carrier bearing exploded. I ran it like it was a Nascar every moment I stepped inside it "ONLY ON THE WEEKENDS* and I still destroyed the parts over and over. When I see those *stock* supercharge videos and they're dogging it, I know by experience that they're replacing parts left and right all the time, mainly Axles and possibly a diff sooner or later. I had the Camaro for 6 months and dumped 3k into it to keep it on the road. By the 7th month, keep in mind 50k miles and mint when I got it. 7th month the trans started leaking, I was done with chevy and done with the high horsepower scene. I did not want to spend 10k+ a year just to drive it how I wanted, but if you do you'll be paying big bucks. I have a few buddies that have an 800whp drag car and every weekend they run it, they have to do a full transmission rebuild the weekend after. It's MONEY to play. You get into replacing tires all the time, replacing parts, paying $250-$300 for a track day and before you know it, it's consumed you and is all you do. That's why every single old person you hear say (you keep doing that and it isn't going to last long) it's damn true, very, very true. These youtubers who are big names, they are replacing axles like clockwork every 2-3 months and don't talk about it, doing transmission rebuilds once a year, replacing diffs once a year and the whole 9 just to make sure it's ready to go. Getting into the scene, car dudes are pissing money away nonstop for nothing. You want adrenaline for cheap? Get a Hayabusa and call it a day until it claims the ultimate price of your life. Porsche guys run into these issues, just as much as we do. It's a well known thing of needing deep pockets, those Italian and Germans just cost more to play. You blow a Lamborghini engine? Bingo 45k sir, thanks have a good day. LOL and it happens, I've seen it.
@floored3078
@floored3078 2 жыл бұрын
@@Xdmfan02 Trust me when I say, The little burnouts and the little adrenaline runs are definitely not worth the money it's about to cost you. You want adrenaline? Go skydive and you'll be good for 3-6 months until you want to do it again, and it costs $100 a head. Wait until they clock you going 95 in the 60 and hand you that $500 ticket, boy is that fun. Wait until you mess up and overcorrect or under correct and you total a $30,000 car. That is so damn fun. To be good, and to get good. You have to learn a cars limits and that's the truth if you want to really be good, and to learn those limits is to push it past what it can do and get bit once. You think Ken block or any of the big names haven't destroyed cars to get where they are? Vaughn Jr did all the time, You see Nascar? when they wreck like that it's $200,000 burned. These videos are all fun and games until the stuff you don't see happens. The tickets, The trips to jail, the license points and the totaled cars. That's why when people started rallying they'd use beat up cars from craigslist haha, they knew they were about to destroy it just to get their name out there and prayed to get a sponsor to help with the repairs of the cheap parts. I mean status aside, it's cheaper to get a theme park yearly pass and have a near heart attack whenever you feel like it.

with that setup, I am assuming you wanted the most performance you could get without losing the BRZ driver experience. IMO, after being in a couple modified brz...procharged with conservative boost gives you all the power you want and you do not lose the driver experience. these 2.4L can take much more of a pounding than the older 2.0...but the gear box really only safe up to 350. so with that procharger, a conservative tune will give you a safe and much faster brz that still has the NA experience since it tends to keep the curve very similar, just higher. as far as why the times are off, launch may be it, I think they like to be launched at stock at 3-3.5. but my guess would be the lack of restriction. Your back end is able to breathe better than the engine can. Believe it or not, adding a CAT might help if you stay NA, but my bet is it can be solved with some dyno tuning. Personally, with that 3inch catless and custom headers(amazing btw), i again urge you to look into getting it procharged. It wont whistle as much as something like a TS supercharger, will hold natural power curve orientations well and just seems to mesh with these so well. If you are unsure in any way, seek out other brz owners who have done a procharger, befriend them and arrange to meet up...you will be sold. I sure as shit was. The only thing I am unsure of is if those headers make a difference...surely no twin scrolls on unequal headers right...

I'm guessing you have slowed yourself down by putting bigger, wider tyres on it. Wide tyres don't necessarily give you more grip. The contact patch of your tyre to the road stays exactly the same size no matter what size tyre you put on. It is tyre pressure vs vehicle weight that changes the contact patch size. Wider tyres only changes the shape of the contact patch. in a lightweight low power vehicle like the brz adding larger, wider tyres can actually affect rotational weight for the engine to have to spin all that extra tyre just to get you moving.

If it’s auto then that makes sense but if it’s manual, maybe the gearing is different? These gears are pretty short which is why it does a decent 0-60 stock. At least by someone who can actually drive the car well unlike myself😂

Lots of bolts on are for show/pride. They are not necessarily successful at giving more power. That can only be achieved with doing a back to back comparison on a dyno to see what works and what doesn't. Understand that the manufacturers of today's performance cars actually work hard to extract all they can out of an engine "safely". They have to compete against other manufacturers and droping .2 seconds off a 0-60 time can result in 10,000 additional units sold. So, there is tons of motivation and they have the tech and equipment to figure out what works and what doesn't. So, unless you get a tune which sometimes puts your engine at risk, it can be very hard to extract more performance out of a stock performance car.
@great159
@great159 Жыл бұрын
3in exhaust piping is WAY too big for any NA setup, that's for a boosted setup. You're losing a lot of performance even with a tune. 2.25-2.5in is more than enough for a NA setup even with headers trust me🤓💯

Are you sure the wheels are lighter? The stock wheels are really pretty light for their width. Is the suspension softer? That could hurt too. By the way, manufacturers 0-60 is only 6.1, and those times are NOT from a complete stop. I read once manufacturers are aloud 4 foot rolls on their "0-60 times". Car and driver had a professional driver hit 5.4. Your 6.5 run was not actually that bad.

Too much outside temp. And you seem to be just throttling away from idle, you are not really dumping the clutch?. Ok it can be painful to dump the clutch, but it gives much better results. On a turbo 2.0 FWD, the best is obtained between 2800-3000 rpm dump. Ona RWD with street tyres, between 3000-3500 rpm usually does it, 4000 rpm if you have semislick tyres. And also, fat exhaust and headers without tune are probably making you lose power. In another video, a GR86 was losing almost 10 whp due to the ULHeaders without tune comparing with stock. Note: it is known that you get the best times when you get that bit of wheelspin from the line, not too much, just a bit. If no wheelspin at all from the line, then you can do better

@Ben Lovrien does your timer use the cars reported speed or a GPS speed? Also I believe the small elevation will hurt your power as well. Sorry but I beg to differ if you ever plan on boosting this car in the first place your going to need a stand alone ecu since no Cobb option for boosting. You could buy a stand alone eco tomorrow and get a hks turbo kit and have, probably one of the first boosted gr86/brz in the states and ur channel would blow up... it sounded like I was hating but it comes from love bro . THAT would be full bolt on, and you would actually be able to tune your car. Just saying
@BenLovrien
@BenLovrien 2 жыл бұрын
That’s true, that’s true. But a stand alone ECU setup is insanely expensive and not worth it given the connections I have to boost the car later on. I have contact with a company already who can help me boost it as soon as the tuning is out. We plan to be the first regardless but yeah you’re right, I could go do all that now if I had the cash but I don’t wanna spend it on that. On track cash wise to buy a turbo kit once tuning comes out possibly at the end of this year. Right in time for boost weather in the desert haha.

@@BenLovrien That is a fair point. I'm currently saving for a decent down payment so I can afford monthly payments, hopefully I can get the GR by the end of the year so I definitely feel you on dealing with the expenses.
