For the allergic reaction, I would consider fabric softener. I had used fabric softener for years, but ended up with an allergic reaction after a surgical procedure. I became swollen and red so much that I was hospitalized for a week. Even now if I’m mending someone else’s clothes that have fabric softener on them, I have to be cautious, not touch my face, and scrub my hands with soap and water. 💙
