My mother and her friend really wanted to try Malaysian food - it was the first thing they mentioned when we unexpectedly showed up, back in Canada after 3 years of travelling.
Our videos must've inspired them to push their culinary boundaries - because they aren't usually they kind of people to try international foods.
Did they like Malaysian food? It was their first time trying nasi lemak, rendang, char kway teow and more! Check our vlog to find out!
Malaysian food is our cuisine in the world... after traveling 30 countries we have decided it's the most delicious! What do you think..? Will our parents and their friends enjoy their first time trying Malaysian food?
TIMESTAMPS:
00:00 - Back in Canada & in search of nasi lemak
3:04 - 900m away for 20 years and we never knew about this restaurant
8:07 - First time trying rendang & nasi lemak (best food in the world)
11:43 - Only part my mom didn't like
16:07 - Ice kachang in 10 degree weather? lol
19:12 - Final review (star count) of each Malaysian dish

I'm a Malaysian living in Canada and I'm new to your channel but I'm liking it so far. There's a Malaysian restaurant simply called Restoran Malaysia in Richmond Hill, Markham if you want to give it a try. It's quite authentic. I go there when I'm missing Malaysian food.

11:21 In Malaysia, the egg with nasi lemak can be full boiled, or mata kerbau (leleh or full cooked) , or thin fried egg, or dadar (with veg) or egg cake or even scrambled egg depend on the restaurant or the chef. Most will be boiled egg as easiest to prepare.

Boiled egg, bilis, peanuts, cucumber and sambal are the basic condiments serve with nasi lemak - i.e. nasi lemak biasa, fried egg, fried chicken etc, are the add on, when you get them at the stalls or restaurant

My Favourite is also Rendang. FYI, Rendang has many varieties. Rendang Serai is the best which most cooked in Johore,, Malaysia and Singapore. Nasi Lemak and Rendang is best cooked by Malays but Char Kway Teow is best by Chinese. IMO.

So nice to see you having so much fun with food. Your mom and her friend were so excited trying different food. They were honest to say that you opened the door for them to try new food. A little sambal will surely kickstart their tastebuds to a different level. Well done, folks 👍

Hi Steve and Ivana and hello there Diane and Marnie 👋 Woww , I am so excited too like your mom and friend. It’s so easy to look for Asian food in Canada , awesome 👏🏻I love Singapore , it’s where I was born 😍 Singapore-Malaysia are about the same in terms of food except for the currency. Nasi lemak , char kuew teow , satay and rendang are the specialties and typical authentic food 😋 hope Diane and Marnie could handle the spiciness 😅 you should recommend chicken rice which is delicious and non-spicy 😋 I’m quite impressed with the restaurant because they have all kinds of menus , amazing 👍🏻🙏🏻 actually we don’t use chilli that much for cooking rendang , the spicy after taste might be from the ginger , galangal , lemongrass all mixed up 😅 Oo they even have ‘ais kacang’ for dessert 👏🏻👏🏻 nice one guys , love watching the introduction of Asian food to your mom and her friend , glad that they’re willing to try and love it 👍🏻🥰😘 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
