One of the biggest impacts and changes in my life has been starting my day in prayer and meditation. This provides me with strength and guidance for my day as well as peace that God is in control.

This is a great idea. I usually get up and open shades through the house, turn up heat and snuggle back in bed until the chill is gone. I would check IG on phone, etc. I will replace that with prayer and meditation. many blessings~

How long did it take for you to stop the sugar craving? I don't think I'm strong enough to do that (even though I gave up smoking after 25 years, cold turkey!). No sugar in my coffee/tea sounds impossible to me.

@@fionafrazer8820 You can do it Fiona! I was a severe and hopeless sugar addict, but was finally able to conquer the beast with keto. Search Pinterest for keto dessert recipes, and you'll see an incredible amount of options. Cheesecake & fat bombs are a good place to start. Then, once the sugar cravings start, you have something to go to. Keto sweeteners are stevia (l like the Walmart liquid version in green bottle) and erythritol (Swerve brand name.) There are other options as well, but those are my two favorites. A little of each together has a good synergistic effect. I usually just use a small amount of the stevia in coffee or tea.

Making my lunch before I go to work has been really impactful. I make a big salad- and it’s really boosted my daily nutrient intake- not to mention the money savings. A bonus perk is- that’s my activity while I’m waiting for my sunscreen to set before I put my makeup on. Win win! 🙂

I actually make my lunch for the next day when I get home from work. I literally come in, change, and make my lunch. That way I don't feel like it's hanging over my head and I don't forget! And I don't have to get up earlier to allow time for it.

Hi Erin, I have been your huge follower all this time. There's not a single thing I would like you to change. Honestly your videos have educated me not only about fashion but thousand other little things mostly your kindness and real talks, they are sooo brave, honest and warm. You are such a wonderful human being. God bless you and your family 😊 Oh the one thing I never miss to do in the morning is calling my parents. They are getting old in a different country. The least I can do from here is giving them my full attention while talking over phone. You know, trying to listen every bit of whatever they wants to tell😊. They are just too precious for me to compromise 👨‍👩‍👧

I've been doing Keto since mid-Jan and I feel great! I've lost 17 lbs - but its not just the weight, its the new energy, and my gut feels great. I no longer feel terrible after eating. Thank-you for sharing your morning tips. I've been reading on my commute in to work (I used to play games on my phone) and my brain feels more alert by the time I get to work.

Bullet proof coffee is a total thing for me. Have been doing for over a year now. I also use intermittent fasting and try to only eat during an 8 -9 hour window. I use collagen in my coffee and monk fruit sweetener. There are flavored collagens out there too that can help add a sweetness if you like. I use LAIRD original creamer in my coffee too and blend it with my battery powered aero latte I purchased on amazon. I am 47 in August. I have no more sore knees. I have energy for all of my tasks. I workout at home in the mornings. I meditate and make the bed as well. I feel pretty accomplished before I even go to work.... lol. I advise anyone who is curious to do research and try a lower carb no sugar lifestyle. I have had great results. Thanks Erin for sharing!!

"Fasting! I stop eating at 7:00 pm and don't eat again until 9:30 or 10:00 the next morning. On top of that, I skip eating entirely one day a week. It's not as hard as I thought it would be, and I can see improvements in my skin, sleep and weight control. Yay! Something that actually works and saves money! "A lot of doctors are now recommending differing fasting strategies (for instance, fasting before and immediately after chemo treatments vastly improves results and reduces side effects in many kinds of cancer). Read Dr. Fung's Guide to Fasting. It helps. Love, love, love your content - rabid fan, Linda

I open up my bed to let it air. Preferably with the window open. And I make it at lunch time if I’m home. I’m Scottish but it’s a Scandinavian/ Northern European custom. It’s especially important during the menopause.. all that sweat. Yuk!! Lol. Then you have a nice freshly aired dry bed before you make it! Bliss!

I also like to air our bed when we were doing our breakfast & bathroom business, then we'll make the bed. It's not an European custom, coz I'm not European and I'm not living in Europe... I think menopause or not, it's just logistic 😉

Love the top 3 list. I set my phone alarm to segment my morning tasks. I allow 1 hour to "chill" drinking non bullet proof coffee and watching videos, (like this one!) but then must pick up the dishes, empty the dryer, and pull together my work outfit once my hour is over. I have an alarm also set when to leave for work. Thanks for this video...very helpful!

Timing your activities is a brilliant strategy. Like you, I vastly underestimated how long a task would take....partly because I would not count multi-tasks. For instance I wouldn't count the time it took to stop at the grocery store on my way home from work because I wasn't "grocery shopping", I was just "picking up a couple things". I didn't count the time it took to do the laundry because the machines were doing the work while I was cooking or cleaning. Well they weren't gathering, sorting, folding and putting clothes away and.that took time..my time. I've gotten better but this tip will help even more. I also like the 3 item list..much more realistic than mine. Thanks for the inspiration! ❤

This was such a good video. It reminded me of how much life has slowed down as I have gotten older. Once those kids are grown everything is so much easier to accomplish. Indeed I loved those years but these years are much easier. Now I never schedule anything before lunch. I love easing into the day, a real luxury for a retired school teacher. I say "NO" when I want to without feeling bad about it. I watch what I eat and walk every afternoon . I have given up coffee and sugar and carbs. Eating lots of fruit, veggies and meat. Most important I visit the grandkids often. They keep me young and happy.

Good morning Erin. I have been thinking about putting the lid on my bedside water because I am concerned about my water being exposed to the air (dust) all night. I am also gong to put lemon in the water and letting it steep all night. Making your bed is a gift to yourself. Top-level self care. Mentally and emotionally, a clean warm bed invites relaxation at the end of the day. I’ve not heard of bullet coffee. Mmmmm! Looking forward to trying it. I use my planner to choice 5 top projects for the week and then 3 tasks each day to move those projects forward. Keeps me clear about what unplanned tasks are doable without taking me off my agenda. Love your channel and your credo “looking and being your best”.

Great tips! I trained myself to not use any sweet on my tea and coffee, it is just like training yourself to like dark chocolate. I love sweets but I use my "sweet budgeted calories" on anything but drinks. I loved the checking the phone/email later and the 3 priority things list. I will add, do the list the night before, in that way you also get a better night of sleep knowing that you have a game plan for next day. ;)

I also make my bed every day. And I started for the same reason as you - "at least I made my bed". When I started I was a stay at home mom to two little ones and I felt like I never accomplished anything but "at least I made my bed". Also there is a book called "Eat That Frog" that talks about getting the task you hate the most done first so the rest of the day feels like a breeze. So it's a real thing!

First thing I do each day is make my bed. And I agree it makes a big difference in my day to see it has been made. I always make sure the kitchen is clean before I go to bed at night too. That helps me wind down in the evening and it feels good to enter a clean kitchen in the morning as opposed to having dirty dishes piled up that need cleaning before any meals can be prepared. Great video!

A great video! So funny, you and I share a similar type of hubby. I make these huge Sunday lists that include EVERYTHING and then by 9:30 in the evening I feel unsuccessful because I only completed a few of the tasks. We ladies load so much on our daily lists...So much to do and so little time. Great advice! I will prioritize today. But I must say, I start every Saturday and Sunday a.m. with my coffee at the front window. I watch the world go by in busy Toronto, sip on my coffee, catch up on your videos and THEN i'm ready to get to work. My guys know not to bother me during my Mom time! Have a great Sunday and thanks for the advice once again xo

Hi Erin and yes, I liked this video. It’s funny I was sitting here drinking my water and drinking my bulletproof coffee while you were talking about your routine. I just recently decided to try Keto and am learning the program. After spending years and years, probably decades of only low and no fat, this is a huge change for me. Last year I had lost a lot of weight but then my body just adapted and I gained seven back (I’m past menopause) and I’ve been able to drop 2.5 pounds. I’m a big to-do list person and I make mine out the night before, I love crossing things off my list. I also have an app of daily affirmations, and I read something positive about me to start my day. Take care!

Hi Erin. I wish you success on Keto. I’ve been doing it for almost 2 years. I’ve lost half of myself. Best, most sustainable, diet I’ve ever undertaken. It’s a huge paradigm shift. I’m 61 and still have more weight to lose so I’m tweaking it as I go. Check Pinterest for Noatmeal recipes - it’s my favourite meal just now. I like the "to do list" tip...That's a really good idea. I LOVE my morning bulletproof coffee! (mine is with MCT oil, Collagen peptides, and half & half) Like you, I have my first meal at noon. One thing I take at about 11:00 am is PGX Daily. It's a tasteless fiber that mixes with water; it lowers the glycemic index for healthy blood sugar levels & reduces appetite-- has really helped me to shed menopausal belly fat!

Like you, I have a tendency to underestimate how much time it will take for any given task, and to spread myself way too thin. I end up feeling frustrated and resentful. I have learned to implement some of these tips that you are talking about. I wake up to a glass of water, I take the dog out, and then while she eats her breakfast, I do yoga, have my bullet proof coffee. I use 1tbsp. Kerrygold butter, 1tbsp of MCT oil, 1 scoop of collagen , a few drops of caramel flavored stevia and that holds me until lunch. I MUST make my bed everyday (lifelong habit), otherwise I feel like I have done NOTHING lol. I am trying to get used to prioritizing my top three tasks for the day, having a little trouble forming that habit. Don't know why really. Fear of success, perhaps:). Useful information and good reminders to take care of ourselves first. Thanks for sharing.

Good sound advice. I have always had a morning routine until recently it changed because I changed jobs. So, I'm a little out of sorts. Your video was a great reminder and a few really helpful things I can use to get back on track. Thanks Erin!!!

I have a similar morning routine, water first thing always! I stretch my legs while praying & saying affirmations before getting out of bed then do a quick meditation if I have time. The 3 priority to do list is very effective.

Great advice! Limiting the to do list is something I have learned as well and find so helpful. After my 2nd child, I cut back to 4 days at work but would try to do everything on my day off to the point I was running around at the end of the day with 4 half finished tasks leaving me feeling unaccomplished. I also read an article that reframed self care as not only manicures and massages but also lunch prep so that you could eat healthy all week and feel better and less stressed about meals 😊

Jen Moore Brandstetter Hello Jen- I’ve been a SAHM for ten years. I have two kids in elementary school. I’m thinking about going back to work but thinking about the morning routine seriously scares me? How do you get everyone out the door on time and looking presentable?

Love this!!! I'm going to look into your coffee drink as that is something that I think I'd like. Things I do... Apple Cider Vinegar - 2T with 1/3C water and a bit of stevia (this keeps the inflammation down from my arthritis - yes, I'm told it's a myth, but it doesn't hurt you and has been life changing for me). Green tea. I use the Maxi-Climber for exercise, it's compact, easy and brainless in the AM... plus the added bonus is that it doesn't stress my joints the way running did.

Holding ourselves accountable is important at any age isn't it?! Love the list. The bed making is such a simple thing that makes a cool statement for the start of the day. I am trying to cut way down on the phone time. If it isn't helping me or my plans then it has to be cut out or cut down.

Erin, as you can tell by my silly name, I definitely approve of you giving keto a try!!! It's worked very well for me for 3.5 years now, and I sincerely believe it's optimal, in some version, for most people. I'm obsessed with health and wellness, and have wanted to start a channel for a long time now. Keto fixes a lot of things, but unfortunately, it hasn't cured me of procrastination or being intimidated by technology. My 3 teenagers said they would help me this summer....so we'll see. I'm going to start with your "glass of cold water by the bed" tonight. Also, really like "get the worst item on the list done first." Another pearl I've been trying to incorporate lately is: Instead of thinking of tomorrow as starting when you wake up, reframe it so that tomorrow starts tonight. So going to bed a little early, or doing little things that will help the next day start off well. Simple idea, but connecting the evening with the next day, instead of just the end of the day, has been a novel concept to me. And making the bed always helps me feel better too.
