I have a few of these. I also own a bunch of Japanese films. I think the first Japanese film that I saw while growing up was "Ran," which might be strange to you. I know that Akira Kurosawa isn't nearly as big in Japan as he is in the rest of the world, but that movie and "Seven Samurai" shaped a lot of my sensibilities of film from a young age.

Nice! I started recently to buy Blu-rays, even if I had a BD player for a long time. Upscaled DVDs looked good on it. I even have Superbit DVDs and HD-DVDs. I have 2 Bourne movies on HD-DVD! I have a hard time watching Eagle eye, too many mind-boggling events one after another... lol

what is the difference between Blue Ray and Dvd? how is one better than the other? do all of them still have the problem of incompatibility of British DVD/European properties and American properties [ you cannot play a brit or german dvd easily on a hard drive computer that is "programmed" for American DVD rules.

Oh I love Collateral too ♡ By the way the popularity of Blu Ray was short lived, I wonder if you regret your decision, I bought maybe 3 or 4 blu Ray until streaming became more accessible, what you say is true, once you go one step up, you dont look down, but once you go to streaming or files you never wanna touch a physical format ever again...

@KouheisPeanutGallery
@KouheisPeanutGallery 2 жыл бұрын
It's only that I like western (mostly Hollywood though) movies more simply because (I personally think) Japanese movies/dramas look cheap (due to lower budgets, which they cannot help about) and the casts' acting look unrealistic.

Sometimes you gotta dig- look for indie movies and animation that isn’t stupid Disney, and you can usually find a diamond in the rough
@nilsy2095
@nilsy2095 5 жыл бұрын
phostime They rarely do anything daring or original because they can’t afford to. It’s always the same story and characters rearranged, always the most genres mixed into one movie as to attract the most people for the most money. They did the same thing to Pixar after they bought them out, and turned it into a sequel factory. They make cute things but when you actually try watching different stuff you look back and realize Disney is way overrated. Personally, I’m way more into what Sony did with Into the Spiderverse (actually having FUN with animation) or most things Laika Studios does. Or anything Chris Miller and Phil Lord direct. That’s just for American stuff overall...
@nilsy2095
@nilsy2095 5 жыл бұрын
phostime I live in the USA but I am literally an animator myself, I’ve made an effort to watch everything I can to learn my craft. Disney is one of the largest corporations in the world, they are not like other animation companies. Their animation studio is literally built on taking public domain properties and then buying out politicians so that their own stuff can not be touched for hundreds of years. They do the same story arcs, art styles, and characters dozens of times and make billions of dollars because they know accessibility is easy and low risk. Most of their movies are now built around their toy market as well. This is why they keep making Cars movies even when no one likes them. They are buying up every big company they can so they can have a monopoly on entertainment. I can go on. Don’t get me wrong, I like some of their movies. I grew up on them. But no, they are not the best. They are just the most well known and the easiest to access.

To me, personally, good movies strive for originality or an artistic challenge in one sense or another. I don’t get that with Disney. That’s me, I’m not knocking you or anything 😕
