What are your favorite Mac apps you have installed?

In the Mac Terminal you can use the command “caffeinate” and it will keep your Mac awake. You can break out of it when finished rendering or what have you and not have to change a bunch of setting and keep from need an additional app to handle this function. Hope this helps.

I really don't see the value in TextSniper when CleanshotX itself has the exact same feature: just click the icon in the menu bar and select OCR, it will show a similar rectangular selection tool for anything on the screen, select and it will be automatically copied as text.

Love the list, except I've been a die hard Alfred user for years now. Raycast is fine don't get me wrong, but I've been accustomed to Alfred's key bindings and various workflows for so long that switching is just not worth the effort yet. I would also highly recommend the app Dropover. Being able to have a "shelf" where I can place pretty much anything has become an integral part of my workflows and I think you would probably get some use out of it as well!

Better Touch Tool includes better snap tool and has a ton more functionality. I use it to map ctrl+screen brightness keys to control the keyboard backlight brightness without having to go into control center along with a ton of app specific trackpad gestures to control the apps. For example, four finger tap to middle click in all the web browsers, four finger click on a finder window resizes and moves the window to the size and location I want on the screen. You can even have gestures do different things when you are using a magic trackpad or the built in trackpad. I also mapped one of my unused keys to be a dedicated (forward) delete key. It also has an iphone app to control your mac with your iphone. It even has Shortcuts integration and actions in Shortcuts to make it more useful. Its the first thing I install on a mac when setting it up and import my all my settings.

Some apps I use: - Rectangle (for windows snapping) - Shareful (add some extra options to the share menu like 'save to downloads', 'open in', etc ... - DropOver (I don't even use drag and drop without it) - Parallels Desktop (run Windows 11 on Mac with some integration between both, and runs everything I use pretty well) - Loopback (I can create virtual audio devices from apps to use their audio in other apps) And I'll make a suggestion, u can also make a new video about Siri Shortcuts u use, I have some useful tips to share 😅😅

I stopped using TextSniper because CleanShot X can now do the same thing for OCR.

Lungo works well for keeping my laptop awake and both it and Cleanshot are available with a Setapp subscription

There is no life on Mac without Keyboard Maestro and Alfred.

You can caffeinate from raycast and you can get rid of amphetamine, it also has support for windows management (you can set the shortcuts)

I’m not sure if it’s intentional on your part to show it, but you can hide that Scarlett icon on your desktop. If you double click on it, you can run an installer that, after, will turn off the storage within the Scarlett. The storage is only there as a way to give you the user manual and give you the Focusrite controller software. Not only will the icon be hidden, but you won’t need to eject your Scarlett anymore when you want to unplug it from your computer. Other than that, great video! Lots of useful apps here - and the production quality is excellent too.

Love your videos. I noticed that you're using Safari. Is that your primary/daily browser? It's the one thing that i constantly (and I mean constantly) struggle with daily on my Mac, iPad and iPhone. I like a lot of different browsers for a lot of different reasons, but in the end I prefer Safari for its deep integration (but not much more). Do you ever find yourself getting friction with macOS Safari or is it working for what you need it for?

Instead of amphetamine, you can use the terminal command “caffeinate -d”. To end, hit ctrl + c

A good alternative for Amphetamine is Lungo. I use it from the Setapp subscription and it does the exact same thing (while being a bit friendlier with the naming). I can only recommend it.

Might be helpful to remember “amphetamine” is just Adderall , which is NOT the same as methamphetamine (they’re more chemically different from each other than water and hydrogen peroxide, which is a BIG difference). Adderall is more commonly known for its use to help manage ADHD, but it was originally created to treat narcolepsy, hence the name for the app.

Caffeine is minimal and good alternate to Amphetamine

Yoink is a one of the first apps I install on a new mac

There's a caffeinate feature/extension in raycast that might replace amphetamine if you like it

I just use CaldiGit Docking Station Utility

Definitely a few here I will be adding to my setup. Some additions: I use Yoink and Pastebot all the time

Amphetamine for downloading files. PasteNow as a clipboard manager. Bettertouchtool is a great app to make shortcut for everything, for example I made copy and paste on side buttons on my mouse. Hiddenbar for extending/folding menubar icons. Clocker - world clocks in menubar.

I use owly instead of Amphetamine

I have a new M2 MacBook Air and if I can help it, I won't clutter and bloat it with 3rd party apps like I did with my Windows laptops.

Surprisingly, you should have mentioned the Keyboard Maestro app. It replaced at least half of your "next-level apps".

Can you do a video on on large mail attachments for sending with you iCloud account. I have noticed that Apple gives a really long link that looks strange and Google just does a single link. Is there a way around this because I would like to be only Apple because my mail platform is Apples default mail @apple

ALL of these apps are useless if you understand how macOS works and become used to it. It seems that you don't.

Cleanshot already supports OCR copy, and I've set it to ⌘ + Shift + 2 (I also used text sniper before)
