Hi Diana, it is a big investment, but such a wonderful machine though. I have had a bit of a play, cut out some shirts to sew and I have a big to make in a heavy drill fabric so that will be a good test for it. Hopefully I can get the other one fixed properly and have it for my granddaughter to use and classes. The KZfaq video by Megan from sew and Tell is over an hour long, but very informative, a real class on using it, it got me over the edge to purchase it. Sorting out your room, that is a great deal of work, I am now looking at where I can have more shelving, I have a very large room but always seem to need more space. Have great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

Hi Ally, it was the auto tension that tipped it over the line for me, the Juki doesn’t seem to have auto tension. I had read a great deal about both machines and watched KZfaq videos on both, I think the Babylock is the next best thing to a full industrial overlocker. If you watch Megan from Sew and Tell Australia she often talks about the Acclaim, when I was at Frocktails I was talking to Megan and she explained the auto tension in detail so it really sent me in that direction. If my Janome, which is less than 12 months old had not been difficult since I smashed it I would not have upgraded, it had become so unreliable, not the machines fault but my fault for allowing it to slam down into the cabinet, I will be sending it to Janome to see if they can repair it properly as if it can be repaired it will be a great machine. Overlockers do last for years and years, usually. My granddaughter Phoebe is six and can use my sewing machine under supervision, so if it can be repaired it would’ve great for her to learn on. I had a Janome for 20 years then I had mums Janome for 10 years, so if all goes well they last a long time, I will be really careful when cleaning this one as that is how mine slammed into the bottom of the cabinet, with all the doors open, it bent everything.
