Gas is a good option, a friend of mine has a big tree business and he got all bandit chippers biggest being the 21xp, that’s diesel but all the new ones he’s buying are gas. Easier to maintain and don’t have to worry about emmisions giving you problems during emergency storm cleanup. Congrats on the purchase!

New chipper looks great. Be sure your ground man understands the dangers of ropes near the feed chute and how quickly the rope can wrap the chipper drum. August Hunicke has a impressive hydraulic screw log splitter quick attach that easily splits logs with the mini skid steer to keep the chipper processing larger logs.

I like the fact that it is yours Tim. Man, many many congratulations to you sir for being the go getter that you are. Today I saw a business that said" because of the shortage of labor, they will not operate on Monday and Tuesdays." Here is a man that is looking for work and invested tons of money to work and isn't afraid of work. Can someone tell me what is wrong that picture? I certainly don't think it is because there is a shortage of people.

Had a gas engine chipper like this one, sold it. On hot days it would vapor-lock. The stupid little plastic fuel line fittings would loosen up after a couple of years and allow air in the lines. Replaced all of the fuel lines with Napa Vapor Gaurd and went to automotive aftermarket AN fittings which solved the air leak problem. Diesel is way more reliable.

Is there a spare tire in case a piece of rebar in a yard eats a tire? Probably safer to hazard tape off the wood chipper so no untrained people get near it. Lasco might work as a cone splitter, more than 5 different models for a 5 ton mini-excavator. Might find a safer kindling splitter than Hunter was using last wood season, to run alongside the chipper.

What a machine. I bet that thing will be a hog. Cool thing is you know all about replacing teeth, hydraulics, etc. So, maintenance on this machine won't be much of a challenge. It will be interesting to see how long a set of teeth last before needing flipped or sharpened or replaced. You never hear much on the maintenance aspect of these things and how much is involved and how often. I have considered getting a small chipper but I think for how often I would use it, I might be as far off to rent one for a week to clear fence rows and field edges.

Tim, with the way you are buying equipment, are you expecting your father to retire soon? I know you said something about that a year or two ago and the situation was unclear on what would happen when he does. Do you think you still want to run logs with your brothers if and when you father goes out? or is this stuff where you want to go after then? or is this more your side gig to fill your down days? how are your kids and wife, haven't seen you much with them here lately and not that I need to know, just hope everyone is doing well.

how does this big guy do on fuel being gas only down fall i see is every thing else is diesel you have on your jobs but then in if they have this chipper doing well on fuel and on a good sized tank you should be trouble free as for the 15 vs the 18 inch chipper i bet you could take 1 of each size and they will run pretty dang close to each other
