Get a topper! I have an 18’ ram 2500 and I think it looks great. Can’t beat the security, weather protection and not having to worry about stuff blowing out of bed. I have the ARE Z series and upgraded to the remote lock and unlock that uses your factory truck key fob. It’s awesome.

Hey Bobby, I wouldn’t do the kennel in the back, I’d go with a topper. It’s safer and puts less stress on your dogs. We actually lost a 2yr old chocolate lab from riding in the kennel in the back of the truck. He was having some kind of allergic reaction so we drove him home from the coast to see our vet and he passed that morning from hemorrhaging out in his brain. My dad is a vet and the only thing he could conclude is that the allergic reaction and the stress from riding in the back pushed him over the edge. Anyways, do what you want, just wanted to share with you the lessons we have learned.

Decoys Unlimited decoy was self made decoy with mold & polystyrene. Made 84 mallards back in 76 & 77. Have 80 plus Ringnecks I made with my son in 97/98.

I use RuffLand Kennels and I’m happy with it. Not cheap but not terribly expensive. Also check out SPS swamp runner kits, you can repurpose that motor with a new long tail kit and save money over buying an outboard and they’ll take you anywhere. I have one with a 6.5hp on my 12 foot jon boat and run 18mph top speed 10-12 cruising with a full hunting load.

I get that I'm a little late to the party, but you should look into those bed drawer boxes. They are waterproof, have somewhere near a ton weight capacity, and has plenty room for gear, guns, ammo and anything else. So you could do that, and get that kennel so you can leave it topper-less and still have your gear protected. Just a thought

Get a topper for your truck but don't put it on until the weather is cold. Summer months I like a truck with no topper. Winter months it protects Freddy from the cold elements.

my guess is $ 250.00 if you go with a Johnson go with a 9.9 that way if you want a little bigger motor you can put a 15 hp. carb. on it then you have a 15 hp. motor that is suppose to be the only different in them two motor is the carb. The decoy`s look real good for there age it shows they were taken care of .

Hey. I think that drain plug is where you need a 3/8" plumbing plug fitting with threads. I had a very old Herters Hudson Bay duck boat that had a drain like that. That boat you bought really looks like a Carsten. I have a pintail. That's a canvasback and you got one hell of a deal. Look up a new one for shits n giggles. I think you paid 800 bucks.

That black decoy was probably a black duck and not a coot. A coot has a beak rather than a bill, if I remember correctly. When I was in high school back in the early 50’s, hunting ducks on Mobile bay I had mallard paper mache decoys that I paid $6.00 a dozen for, but that was big money for a teenager in those days.My uncle had 6 or 8 burlap sacks of machine carved hand painted wooden decoys he and my dad hunted over in the 1930’s. Wish I still had them today, or just one for sentimental reasons. I do have my uncle’s Model 12 Winchester 12 gauge that was made in 1927. 32” full choke and 28” improved cylinder barrels. Sadly I have gotten to old and physically challenged to hunt anymore. Enjoy the hunts, pigeons are tough, like doves. Ducks are tougher, they can simply haul ass, especially with a following wind!😊

Them gunner kennels are almost indestructible, seen someone roll a truck with one in the back and it only had a few scratches.

They make really nice long shaft kits. My dad and I bout one for our John boat same size as the one you have and it will take us through anything

Many of those decoys are from the 1970 s There are some hard plastic Victor decoys they were bad about cracking on the bottom in ice. There look like some Arrowducks made in st louis they came in plastic and before that paper mâché with tar like material inside on the bottom. There were also steel weights like the first one you showed that I think were Orvis.. I have 3 or 4 dozen decoys similar to those that got replaced years ago but are not really worth even shipping but people will buy them at flea markets etc for around $15.
