I decided to upgrade my Capella Aircraft into a proper bush plane. First added some Horsepower with Hal Stockmans Big bore kit. It bumped my 80hp Rotax to 110 HP. Then added some big bush tires! We went flying and landed at my house strip. Where I went swimming with the bush plane.
I say stoked way too many times also.

@@JonasMarcinko Strut length versus tire size versus braking power. Fore/aft strut flexibility. CG differences with and without the cowling. Drag with and without cowling. Weight and drag with new tires. Calculate tipping torque with the new tires with their current arm. Adjust brakes and struts as necessary. Maybe consider not doing soft/off-field landings until you've finished an extremely comprehensive test flight. If you know that a field is occasionally flooded, consider not landing in at at all. Especially during peak flood irrigation season. You can calculate these things ahead of time. They can help you anticipate things like faster stalls on approach, a downward pitching moment on touchdown, and so much more. I appreciate that it's experimental, and not certified and understand that you're experienced with these things, but I feel like there was some overt recklessness on display here.

Jonas, I know most of us, or at least me, are nobody to you, but as an aviator fellow I feel extremely compelled to tell you that flying is fun but it must be respected. We all make mistake and learn from them but asking for problems is different. It is not ok to fly without engine cowling, having people walking around a spinning propeller or having the muffler fell upon start-up. I think the message here is pretty clear from a lot of people: none of us wants to read an NTSB report in the future, so please if you want us to keep following you change your mentality and use some common sense. We should all promote safety first as it will allow us to do what we like for longer time. Thank you for taking the time to read.

Matteo Bertolo...thank you for your message of wisdom in a non-condescending way to Jonas. I have always enjoyed his channel. I am no pilot, but do love flying and I get sick to my stomach when I hear of someone who crashed and lost their lives. Your points are well taken and I hope others aspiring pilots will watch the video and read these comments....some entirely appropriate and others are snarky and mean. Thanks Matteo!

My father has towed banners for 30 years now. Flying J-3's and J-5's his whole career that do not have engine cowlings. Theres nothing wrong with flying without an engine cowling. As a private pilot working on my commercial I do agree with everything else you have said. Jonas seems like a great guy but he needs a confidence check, I would hate to see him injured or worse. I would enjoy his videos just the same if he played more on the safe side.

Two beautiful souls sitting on a log making a lot of people excited about a beautiful relationship building to come to this. I'm 77 and took delivery of the first B52H in the early 60's. Been around a lot of airplanes. I can tell you what I see here is either a problem or one person screaming. May God bless you both.

Thank you for not taking Silvija with you. The exhaust pipe falls off???? Really???? This is tolerable if you have a hot rod... but there is a reason that airworthiness is huge. Tim McCoy here wife's account My problems : the landing gear is way too flimsy. Get something stronger rigged up . This will bite in mud, water, heavy grass. The Vertical stab/rudder. Has anyone spun one? Having been a near Tomahawk casualty, I would look into that. Also, look at.time in a Pitts they have some landing characteristics that would teach stick discipline. Heck aerobatics never hurt either. l say this as a CFI commercial pilot with about 11,000 hrs in many different types. Silvija is amazing like my wife work as hard as you can to grow old together. The only thing that I haven't seen in the comments that I'll add is that I think you need to remind Sylvija to stay a bit further back from the prop disc... I'm not sure if it was the camera playing tricks but it seems like she stepped within it (or at least way too close to it) right after you cut the engine when the exhaust fell off. Also, as a fellow aviator, I recommend you read and seriously reflect on the other comments here - I'd have some kind but concerned words for you if I was a hangar neighbor and I witnessed the contents of this video first-hand. In aviation, there are three types of lessons: the ones you learn the easy way (learning from other pilots / mechanics with more experience than you), the hard way (by hitting your / the airplane's limits and coming close to or actually bending metal), or the solemn way (via NTSB reports). I love your videos, and I hope I get to continue watching them for a long time to come. Stay safe.

I fly gliders so this may not translate but I suspect when you transition from final to roundout the additional load on the wings causes them to stall. I would think more airspeed on final would solve this issue. Whatever the solution is get it figured out. The ground is hard, don't want to crash into it.

You need to reduce your ft/min on landing. Slamming it on WILL damage it. Stop trying to STOL it on, and just aim to be smooth 😂

Hi Jonas, it would be awsome to see you and Mike Patey collaborate on a new more stable landing gear. Just take a look at the gear setup he has on Scrappy. Wouldn't hurt for him to take a look at the motor mount system you built. Maybe Mike could help you build in a parachute like he put on Scrappy. Something tells me you may need it someday.

Morggin Mike Patey meticulously engineers everything he does. Something we all can learn from and admire.

I’d like to see how you fix the sink rate problem. I have a J6 Karatoo does the same thing, very hard not to bounce it in.

Well Jonas I have been getting the Harry's shaving blades for over a year now so I can't help you there but great video tho, you sure seem to be pushing the limits lately. Even had a deer in the headlights look on your face a couple times in this video....lol You are making Silvija awfully nervous too, you don't want to turn her gray too fast now.....lol Thanks for the adventure!!! ;-)

I’m sorry, that Capella is a death trap. I have a bad feeling about that plane. I hope it gets sold! It has multiple issues and isn’t forgiving. Sell!
