Join me as I create a short tour of my latest vehicle purchase, a beautiful 1 owner 2005 FXT with the rare 5 speed manual transmission and EJ255 engine.

my 04 fozzy xt has all sti suspennsion, aig block, tuned to 350hp runs on 93 pump gas. i love my subie. smokes porsches on the highway

Hey sorry kind of a late comment, the FXT actually should be making about 14-16 psi of boost on the Cobb stage 1 map with the stock turbo. When I got my XT, it would only hit 5-6 psi as well, but I found the previous owner had removed the restrictor pill that goes from the wastegate to the boost controller. This pill limits the vacuum flow through the line which allows the wastegate to stay closed longer, and therefore generate more boost. Super clean car and I’m glad to see people taking such good care of them!

Yes! I had exactly the same issue with mine and now that it has the pill in the wastegate line it is making 10psi.

D25 heads are on the 06+FXT because of the added air pump for emissions same as the wrx and 07+ legacy gt.

I love that we both have 2005 Subarus now! Also I love the momo wheel combo you put on it. I love the wood too obviously but that plain black momo is probably my second favorite wheel of all time. Excited to see what you end up doing with the Foz!

Wicked car man, I have a 06 xt in the same colour. With the right mods and regular maintenance they can be awesome fun with plenty of reliability!

Hell yeah! I already have an IAG oil pickup to solve one of the issues with these but I’m looking into a cylinder 4 cooling mod and a few other things for long term. Always 3000 mile oil changes with synthetic and high quality premium gas

Nice I have an 04 XT 5 speed that was 1 owner from Arizona. Completely rust free and was bone stock when I got it. Did the TSK3 snout repair kit/throwout bearing, upgraded clutch, group N transmission mount, whiteline trans crossmember bushings, whiteline shift linkage, and better brakes

Cool car man, I just pick up an 06 forester xt limited manual black leather package in June for my son here in Florida. Car came from the north senior driven like most are. Bone stock and runs great. Mild rust underneath but not too bad. It was definitely taken care us the best they could. Subaru just put a timing belt on it. 169k on the car.. so fun to drive! Probably leaving the motor alone just exhaust, coils and rims.. your looks great man.

@sunset. I hope so we are new to the subie life for sure. I’m a Toyota guy. Me and my son have enjoyed learning the car. Kinda nervous still. Can you share any helpful quick tips to help with the car’s longevity?

Nice FXT$… Funny how we are attracted to “unreliable” machines… My 2008 FXT$ has had me questioning my sanity at some points…Similar bolt-ons to what you displayed plus forged internals…The 5spd got real noisy around 200K, upgraded to the 6spd, that was a chunk of cash… best money spent was on the WRX steering rack around the same time/mileage frame. Heads a new cam around 250k miles, stuck in the shop forever due ECU issues, got it out, drove for week and turbo started acting up… Too smart to keep throwing time and money at this thing but just too stupid to sell, it is just so much fun to drive…

From what I’ve heard, these can actually hold up pretty well as long as you don’t beat on them too terribly much and keep up on the maintenance. Oh and a good tune is absolutely necessary for any mods otherwise you’re asking for trouble

@@sunsetsubaru9304 I may drive a little harder than the average bear, but it is a whole lotta fun! Just cannot beat the utility of the damn thing, easy to get in and out of, space for friends if any are crazy enough to get in the car with you… room for the Costco grocery run and maybe swing by Lowes if you fold the seats down… AWD drive sure footed goodness paired to a turbo manual, for a daily driver not much else out there ticks the boxes the way this thing does… Evidently there are only so many times you can flash the ECU, so be extra careful with that, super hard to find part
