In today's video we talk about a windshield replacement that went really bad in a hurry. The Land Rover Defender is a vehicle that has a more square stature because of this, collecting rocks and other road debris can happy pretty easily. Learn from our experience in this video on what went wrong when we needed our Windshield replaced.

Define unreliable. Does it have lots of lights and beeps that notify something may be wrong? Yes, that’s what those lights and beeps are meant to do. Does it still drive perfectly even when those lights and beeps happen? In my experience, yes. No, my experience so far is that it is not unreliable.

16,000 miles on my Defender 110 P300 S, zero issues…and I off road it a lot.

Subaru, Jeep, Kia FB owners groups all reporting this same windshield cracking problem. But replacement cost could be higher for LR and it definitely took longer time for the parts to come in.

I had to replace mine with safelite, double-checked with my dealer and the windshield does not require calibration. That is why safelite doesn't have the software to do it because it is not needed. Also the gravel noise has something to do with the door seal and they can inject silicone into it and that makes the problem go away...temporarily.

The gravel noise went away 100 percent. It was clearly coming from windshield top edge on ours. When our windshield was removed, the safety systems would not even turn on (lane keep assist, crash avoidance ....). The dealership said they were having issues having the system recognize the lines on the road. I think a big part of the issue is no one knows 100 percent where some of the new model quirk issues are coming from. I have read and heard a lot of folks that try different things for what sounds like similar issues.

I actually went through this very thing with Safelite and my '22 X-Dynamic HSE. I actually lost my passenger side A-Pillar on the highway. After months of trying to get them to fix it, and a formal complaint with my states AG office, they finally figured it out. I was able to get the factory glass installed on mine though. I was told aftermarket was not available for my car. Coincidentally I had two friends who simultaneously had their windshields replaced on their cars at Safelite, and they also had a nightmare story. My friends Mercedes needed extensive repairs after.

years ago, with an LR4 that needed a rock chip windshield replacement, I didn't go with Safelite but with the local company that does those repairs for my LR dealership. man, those OEM heated windshields with the embedded wires are pricey. :)

Glad I avoid safelite and picked a local dealership for the replacement. Will report back on how it goes. BTW, there is a class action law suite going with LR for 20-22 defender windshield issue.

Nice video and a sadly increasingly common story of so called professionals being incompetent! Well done for forcing them to pay for the damage. Absolute disgrace they originally claimed it wasn’t them. The manager of that shop should be fired!

Wow What a hassle. Extremely poor form and service from Safelite. Unfortunately when u give your vehicle to anybody, u need to thoroughly check that they haven’t damaged it in some way ! It is very disappointing that many manufacturers, not just LR, are currently not able to supply commonly needed spare parts, such as a new OEM windscreen in a timely fashion… Looking forward to the LR Experience Video. 👍

It's a lemon. I just saw another story where the power steering went out after only 150 miles from new. Then it did it again after it was fixed. Then at 10,000 miles all the coolant lines needed replaced. Yes, Land Rovers are unreliable but it's amazing how KZfaqrs normalize this crap for fear of being blacklisted.

hi guys! thank you for your video! I am using defender 2022 in southern California and going move to Minnesota and have concern about wipers system in winter time, mostly about sprinklers whit is spraying on wipers directly! what is your experience ? thank you!

Thanks for checking in. I believe you are asking about the wipers and how they function in the winter. The Defender design is not awesome. The spray trickles out versus spraying out. It works, there are just better designs out there. The issue with MN is all the grime that cakes the windshield. You use lots of washer fluid!

@@dudarenkochannel not a huge fan of the Minneapolis store. More so because of the ownership of that dealership. Richfield is the other one. Great service folks there.

The video is mirror imaged, annoying. Otherwise a helpful video. My Defender 110SE is 9 months old, 10K miles, no issues. I haven't broken the windshield yet. So is the lesson to just do the OEM with the dealer? What has Safelite had to say about all the lies,? They damaged the car and tried to hide it, you caught them and they still lied about it. Have you reported this to the DA?

They paid to fix everything! Yes it is mirrored. Working on trying to figure out new mics that have directional sound.

So Land R America is not able to replace a windshield. Definitely the priories are just to sell the vehicle but not to help the existing customer

@@PerformanceOnWheels The most annoying thing is that this Defender is so cool. :) Just that fact makes me angry at Toyota or Honda for making boring cars. Although I like Passport a lot, but it’s not available in Japan ;(

Sounds like everyone with a LR should first research how to take the trim off and then explain it to any after market garage how to do it properly. Do NOT expect people to have expertise in these vehicles. Most have probably never touched or seen a Defender.
